Why is this game so fucking boring? My friend convinced me to buy it after he spent 150 hours in it. After trying it for 2 hours, I'm tapped out. What is the allure here?
It's an autism simulator. You need to have a very specific type of autism to enjoy games like this.
>>737345601I don't get it. Back in the day I spent a ton of time playing minecraft. I could pick it up today and still have fun. This though? Can't do it. I get overwhelmed just looking at pictures of some of these users' factories.
>>737345601And I'm not even averse to automation games. I played opus magnum and little big workshop and had fun with them. What am I missing?
It's 20 times slower to make shit in that than in Factorio. Just play that
Satisfactory is the autistic version of Factorio.
>>737345990I'd probably like it. It's not like I'm in the market for an automation game. My friend just wanted me to pick it up to play with him but I don't have the heart to tell him I hate it. I was hoping maybe you guys might know the secret to having fun in it.
dyson sphere is a good balance between factorio and satisfactory
>>737345531have you tried getting high first?
>>737346029Bitch please. You program in Factorio.
>>737346029satisfactory is for the enjoyment of building in 3d, it's nowhere near as complex as factorio. satisfactory is far more 'chill' as the young people say.
>>737346182Bro, if I'm already overwhelmed, what do you think I'd be if I was high? Really it just makes me want to play no man's sky or subnautica and I was never a huge fan of those in the first place.
>>737345601It's just Factorio but it takes absolutely fucking forever to do anything because the map is about 50x the size it should be, given your movement speed. It's kind of cool to see a bunch of conveyors bringing in materials from super far away to one giant central hub of industry, but actually getting to that point is so insanely time-consuming for no good reason.
>>737346431It does feel really grindy in the beginning. Another problem is the menus. Using a controller feels clunky to me. I think maybe with a better ui, I might not hate it so much. Also, am I missing the ability to stop crafting when you reach a certain number of items? Or do you have to manually stop it when you get the right amount?
>>737346029No, Satisfactory is the normalfag version of factorio>unlimited resources>combat is stupid as fuck>le handcrafted map made with le love and le passion>female character (still faceless but booba)>quirky chungus AI>not so quirky chungus AIThe only thing Satisfactory does correctly is 3D and Scale.
>>737346431The slow pace, high level of fiddling, and tedium are not bugs, they're features The game is zen garden, something designed to be slowly plucked away at for a very long time. The target audience is people who have fun building stuff that looks good even though there's no mechanical benefit. If you want something with meaty game mechanics and challenge, play Factorio.
>>737346625>quirky chungus AI Yeah, the opening left a really bad taste in my mouth. It didn't give me a sense of wonder at all.
>>737346713>If you want something with meaty game mechanics and challenge, play Factorio.Oh god no. This is too complex for me as it is. I guess I'm just not the target audience for it.
>>737346239Are you me?
>>737346239>>737346334>>737346625Wrong. Satisfactory is the autistic version of factorio. It's basically the same as Minecraft: You place blocks in a 3d world in a very repetitive fashion. They even tried to tone down the autism by making it so your machines just vertically upgrade using upgrades.Factorio, it removes a ton of the autistic bloat (doing repetitive things). Everything you do "repetitively" can be streamlined and automated. Everything you do is usually novel to that game.
>>737346182This, Satisfactory is fucking amazing stoned. Specially if you dont mind a bit of spaghetti and just clipping shit through things. Visually, its probably one of the best games for visuals while high, along with shit like Cyberpunk and modded Skyrim.
>>737347429Always kinda fun to look at other people's independent designs as they learn the game. Before the 'you have to bus/city block' cartel gets to you. Snake of labs is pretty funny.
>>7373455312 hours is nothing. The fun from automation games comes from setting up a factory like it's one big, open ended puzzle. Having said that, by virtue of being an FPS game, it makes moving around and placing structures (even moving between structures can be janky because you bump and get stuck in shit all the time) makes the experience far more frustrating and tedious than it needs to. Factorio is a more "perfect" game in that regard. Also the way conveyor belts work (Factorio can carry two resources at once, Satisfactory only one) and the fact that belts connect directly to structures instead of arms that carry shit into buildings makes Satisfactory more linear/restrictive.I won't pretend I'm any good at these games, but those are some of the problems that immediately stuck out for me on the surface. I'm also interested in trying Dyson Sphere Program next and see how it stacks to those games.
>>737345531I found it satisfying being able to make a well oiled machine and creating long transport tubes between areas.I can't imagine playing it alone though, that seems like tedium up dee ace.
