>>737361109How do you solve this issue?I've been thinking about adding a couple of side quests that actually strengthen the final boss instead of feeding you exp/gear. You know, like they deceive you and the shibbledibble you're supposed to deliver to totally not a minion actually doubles the final boss' health, speeds him up, or gives him regen. Long running consequences of your choices. So that you can either be a complete dumbass that falls for every single trick quest, or you are smart enough to see through the trick and end up with an easier fight. Or, you do them on purpose to power the final guy up just for the challenge.

>>737363676I think the only satisfactory solution is optional level scaling. Because as cool as your idea sounds, it wouldn't have quite the intended effect on me because an easy final boss isn't really a reward for me, it's a negative. So if I see through the trick I don't get to use that to my benefit because that would make the game less fun, so it has the same end result.Maybe if you change it from an easier fight stats-wise to giving me a weapon that improves my stats? So say final boss uses poison and if I have the weapon equipped I'm completely immune to poison despite no other item having 100% poison negation in the game, or maybe the weapon even turns the poison ticks into healing ticks? That would feel rewarding, even if it makes the fight easier. The final boss just dying without me having to use my brain at all like most RPGs if you do the sidequests is just boring. It is common place, though, I wouldn't hold it against your game in particular.

>>737363676In Tales of Vesperia, a sidequest involves finding ancient evil super weapons that get stronger based on the amount of enemies you kill with them and stockpiling them all in your back pocket so they don't fall into the wrong hands. If you collect them all, the final boss notices and steals them from your pocket after you beat his second phase in order to get a third phase that cucks you if you were greedy enough to rely on the ancient evil super weapons instead of using normal equipment.
>>737361142maybe Urchild in EO2. There was no need for high risk strategies like with the story final boss because my team was invulnerable the entire fight thanks to the curatives from the bonus level.
>>737361137fpbpby design because normalfags would chimp out if they actually had to use most JRPG skill development and battle systems to their limit to see the end of the story
>>737362063There's a credit roll at the end of what's essentially Chapter 1 (after doing 3 prologues) of the first Wild Arms.
>>737361109Grim Dawn- a hidden box boss is one of the hardest in the gameER- practically everyone knows about Melania so that's self explanatoryDragon Age: Origins- the mountain dragon boss is entirely optional, and will kick your teeth in if you're not prepared for it. Same for the witch in the swamp if you do the snide bitch's companion side quest.Nioh 2- Against all comers side mission is a boss rush and wave attack set where you fight beefed up versions of the games bosses.Skyrim- the Ebon Warrior can only be fought when you hit lvl 81 and has gear that makes him incredibly hard to fight if you haven't been cheesing the fuck out of the games crafting systems. So maybe not this one.
>>737362063It depends on the game. One of my favourites of recent times has 3 different credit rolls, and while it's fair to stop at any of them I would argue the truly optional stuff only starts after the third credits.

>>737361142Unfinished Hearts 3, people forget how much of a turd this game was because they memory-holed this
>>737361142Picrel is even more egregious because the penultimate boss is more difficult than the final boss which is more difficult than the secret boss. The worst part is that neither Death or The Forgotten One are the best or coolest bosses in the game. They just have a lot of health.
>>737372141There was quite a bit of side content and bosses but honestly the game was so bad I skipped most of it. It's also had way too floaty combat and because of that besides yoroza all of the super bosses are easily cheesed

>>737373224It's only kino if beating him is just him getting bored and rewarding you for surviving long enough.
>>737361109Why is this a problem? The final boss should be reasonably beatable as long as you understand the game's mechanics. It's the last boss in the main campaign, any player that sticks with the game to get to that point should be able to beat them. But if it's an optional boss you BETTER be ready to go into it because you're choosing to fight them.
