Recently i played for the first time Sin and Punishment for the N64 and then the sequel, Sin & Punishment Star Succesor for the Wii.I really enjoyed the N64 game, it is excellent, reminds me a lot to Starfox 64, one of my favorite games of all time. Meanwhile the Wii game, while still good, couldn't reach the highs of the N64 original in my view. Initially i was wondering why and then i think i found out the reason. In the original N64 game your character can only move either left or right while also double jumping and rolling, meanwhile on the Wii game you can move all around the screen because the characters can float (and rolls), this esentially turns the game from a sort of on rails shooter to a Shmup game, and that greatly changes the feel of the game to me, making me feel less involved with dodging of bullets do to the greater freedom of movements. it is interesting how a small change can make a big difference and even more interesting how in theory, this change for the Wii version makes it even closer to StarFox 64 yet it wasn't as enjoyable, so i guess i have another mystery at hand.
I wish the Wii lived a little longer so we'd have more on-rails shooters.
>>737365385Least it got plenty of light gun arcade ports of rather solid quality.
>>737365385>>737366657with a hacked Wii if you put sega genesis and snes emulators you can play super scope and sega menacer games with your wiimote and that's rad.
>>737366915I actually never thought of doing that and my Wii has been cfw'd for the longest time, huh.
>>737365385The Wii lived too long as it was, developers just wanted to make mini game shit over using the tech effectively. They saw a good way of implementing a pointer and went "holy shit! Perfect for a whack a mole mini game" above all else for some reason.
>>737367116try it dude, i played Yoshi Safari there the other day and it was pretty fun. I also tried Snatcher using the Wiimote as the Konami justifier
>>737365228I feel the same way. You do accumulate points for being on the ground, so there is a incentive to play that way, but I don't think most people would care enough.
what the fug was even the plot of the first game?
>>737371789I have a copy pasta for this. Written by another anon:part 1There are two cosmic factions, Inner Space and Outer Space, they are at war with each other. Inner Space creates and uses "Earths" to farm a species that seems to make up the bulk of their military; humans. When and how humans are recruited from Earths is unknown and there are a large quantity of Earths, at least over a dozen. An Outer Space agent infiltrates an earth in order to create a powerful human weapon to use against Inner Space. The agent is called Achi.Introducing outer space blood into an earth lifeforms causes mutations. At some point Achi also mixes her blood with a man named Brad, presumably to create the aforementioned human weapon however Brad betrays her and runs off with the blood to experiment on it.This earth is facing a food shortage crisis however at some point Achi's blood is mixed with some local wildfire (it's unknown to me whether Brad or Achi was behind this) in order to create a new type of creature that produces a lot of edible matter, one that the Japanese government begins to promptly farm. These creatures begin to go berserk and are henceforth referred to as "Ruffians".They start to take over Japan. An external army (led by Brad) is sent in to help clean up the Ruffian situation but while occupying Japan they apparently treat the citizens poorly and a resistance movement is formed against the external army. This resistance movement is led by none other than Achi.At some point Achi comes across a fatally wounded Saki who she shares her blood with, reviving him. Over time however, almost th entire resistance is wiped out, leaving only Saki, Achi and a woman named Airan. They try to secure an escape transport out of their current location and launch an assault on an external army base. This base is under the command of one of Brad's subordinates who he has shared his (and Achi's) blood with, giving them extraordinary powers.
>>737371789>>737372092part 2Once the base is compromised by Saki and co. Airan and Achi board the escape transport however both Saki and Brad's subordinate are caught in a flood of blood that overtakes the city(???). The Achi blood inside both of them awakens and they both transform into massive Ruffians who do battle. Saki is the victor but has apparently lost his mind by transforming and starts attacking the escape transport Achi and Airan are on. Achi teleports the two of them away into the main headquarters of the external army, a battleship. From inside the ship Airan battles her way to the control from where the two of them confront Brad and another of his subordinates who has already transformed into a small rabbit-like ruffian. Brad, afraid of the possibility of losing his mind after transforming and not being able to transform back never does so and is defeated by Airan. Achi and Airan then go about trying to help Ruffian Saki recover and the only way to do so is for Airan to shoot Saki in the head. She refuses so Achi then shows her a vision of the future in which Saki and ruffians takes over the world and her and Saki's child, Isa, exists. Not wanting her child to live in a dystopia she shoots Saki. After doing so Ruffian Saki is knocked unconscious. Achi cuts open his ches tand throws Airan inside him. This wakes him back up and allows him to recover his mind. Apparently only by fusing two loved ones can a Ruffian human remain in control of themselves. Achi then tries to get him to obey her but he teleports out of there. He's able to transform back into a human, mostly, and he and Airan wash up on a beach ad fight off some ruffians. Airan gets kidnapped by Achi though and demands Saki obey her. Saki says he'll protect the earth so she says fine and transforms into a copy of the earth and attempts to replace the current one by destroying the original. Saki and Airan fuse back into Ruffian form and fight off Achi's Earth mimic.
Instead of typing this extremely gay lore text wall you should post your 1cc, surely you didn't bulldoze through this sub-hour long game with continues then write up all this stupid shit
>>737371789>>737372092>>737372139part 3Isa has been recruited by the Inner Space military and, having inherited Achi's blood from Saki, is a very strong combatant. He's sent to an Earth where an Outer Space agent has been located to kill them. He travels there and finds the agent who has taken the form of a young girl and has apparently lost their memory. This agent is Achi and whether or not she has actually lost her memory or this is just a ruse to get Isa on her side after failing to do so with Saki is unknown.Isa decides this girl (who has named herself Kachi) isn't a threat and doesn't fulfill the mission. Outer Space higher-ups don't take this lightly and send an entire army after the two of them, the Nebulox. Isa and Kachi try to evade the Nebulox and escape the earth they're on but are unable to do so. Isa realizes they need to take them head on and recalls something his mother told him, that to awaken his powers he needs to find someone he loves. He and Kachi fuse to transform into a ruffian and wipe out the Nebulox for good. They are now free and their future is unknown.
>>737372139it's cool that Isa is all grown up in Star Successor
