Your starter weapons are very unimpressive. The pistol is a pistol and you stop using it as soon as you can. The shotgun and acid gun are more of complementary weapons since the former is short-ranged and the latter is a DoT, though the acid gun does do good work. It's not until you're past the refund window that you get the tommy gun, which'll be your workhorse weapon, that the game finally starts to feel good. The game also takes four whole levels to give you access to the upgrade station despite you potentially having a ton of collected upgrade components already, there's more bosses per hour in the first few hours than the rest of the game (partly because of a terrible joke) and the boss design in the game sucks, and too much of the game is blatantly cut content. It doesn't magically become a great game and there are still a lot of things that drag it down, but it does become a passable shooter rather than a mediocre one.

I checked out this game on Youtube and the style on everything is just swell except the writing which was less than swell. The voice is just wrong and needed more chandlerisms. The aesthetic is cuter than lace pants but the very basic modern voice belonged like a tarantula on a slice of angel food.
