I think Deadlock will be decently popular and have a larger competitive scene than most games, but I don't think it will reach the same heights that Dota and Counterstrike have. It's too hard to spectate and there's no way to solve that without turning Deadlock into a completely different game or somehow convincing everybody that they would rather watch some sort of curated replay instead of a live broadcast.

The geometry of the map is designed to block sightlines, which makes for horrific warding spots. On top of that, shit moves too quickly for ward spots to be useful, probably why they show when a camp has been cleared on the map vs DOTA 2 where you need to pierce the fog of war to see that info.

It will probably make valve a shitload of money and have a decent enough playerbase but i dont think it will reach dota2 or cs2 numbers.the players for this will probably only play deadlock much like dota2 players only play dota2.put a decent amount of hours into it but they nerfed the only character I really liked playing into the ground and the matchmaking is fucking terrible so I'll wait for a full release. will come back every time they have big updates.
