I feel that when you make an entire product out of a tech demo, it's no longer a demo, it's a showcase. Plenty of gimmicks and new shiny features have done wonders for a game, even if you can feel what it's trying to show off.

So called tech demos are usually better-than-average games anyway.For instance Mafia 1 is more interesting and sovl even though it was mostly a tech demo, while Mafia 2 and 3 are just ubislop clones.
