Platformers age very well. The original Zelda is shit, but Mario 3 is just as fun as any great game today.
this is the last good mario game
>>737411767For every Super Mario, there's one Dr Jekyll & Mr Hide. Also, OG Zelda is a great adventure game. Sad that you got filtered.
>>737411767Why do worldkeks fight above their weight with this game?
>>737411767I grew up playing the NES version and loved it to death. Years later I remember getting and playing the GBA version and feeling disappointed and didn't understand why. I think maybe it was just the shitty sound chip and colors the GBA version had or something. All I know is I played through the GBA version once and never touched it again. I also never realized how short the stages were. I remember playing SMB3 for hours on end on the NES.
What you are really saying, OP, is that the Platformer genre is stagnated for 3 decades and the adventure genre has advanced beyond the stars relative to it.
>>737414190The GBA version is the best one actually. It comes with 50 new levels
>>737411767Good games never age.
>>737414229>It comes with 50 new levelsThat you had to buy a 40$ add-on + cards to unlock. I remember trying to buy one of those e-reader bullshit device back in the day and being pissed they never went down in price. Yeah there was emulation and hacking but for normal folks this was the only option. e-reader just wasn't worth the price for the small few games that used it. You could have bought a gameshark or action replay for that price and get more out of games than a shitty card scanning device.
Mario 3 has aged horribly though, the controls are clunky, the game is ugly due to the weird color palette and constant tile flicker on the edge of the screen.
Crazy that the best side scrolling platformer in the genre was made in 1988 and embarrassing that hardly anyone knows who made it.
>>737411767>The original Zelda is shitskill issue
>>737415737You can't see the tile flicker if you play it on correct hardware or if you set your emulator up correctly. You're also insane. It controls impeccably.

>>737415776No skill needed in trying every wall in a game, it's a matter of having tolerance for shit-tier game design.
>>737415824>No skill needed in trying every wall in a gameyou're not required to bomb every wall. You just need to bomb one wall and burn one tree
>>737415824NTA but yeah there's some real bullshit player expectations in that game.People complain about the stuff you have to do in Castlevania 2 - well it's no worse than the absolutely ridiculous shit you have to do in Zelda 1.
>>737415903>well it's no worse than the absolutely ridiculous shit you have to do in Zelda 1.like?
>>737415882TO burn that tree you have to go around burning every tree in the game, hoping there might be something hidden underneath it. And you're not given any clues that there even might be.There are also 2 parts where you have to take an arbitrary pre-set path through an area or you get stuck in an infinite loop. There's also a part in dungeon 5 that can result in you being soft locked and having to hit the reset button if you run out of bombs (and the game goes out of its way to make you run out of bombs by filling the room right before the one where you can get stuck, full of dinosaurs who can only be killed by making them eat bombs.)It's real "dick move" game design.
>>737415749>hardly anyone knows who made it.To be fair it doesn't even have a staff roll.
>>737411767Zelda 1 is still great.Mario 3 is still great.OP is a faggot.
