I get the parallel between Hugh/Diana and Higgins/Eight in that Hugh encourages Diana to be herself so she grows into a good person while Higgins only saw Eight as a tool so she never properly develops her own identity, yet the story simply treats her as a villain for the most parts and then pulls a WELP CAN'T FIX EVERYONE in the end and she just dies.

The ending almost got me but the game did a pretty poor job at establishing a close bond between the two. It also doesn't help that around halfway through the game they do the trope of LETS GO TO THE BEACH which is an automatic death flag. I still had fun with the game but Opus made me cry a lot more.
I haven't played this game but I've read enough spoilers. She's gonna die at that beach too right? No chargey electric floor.

I have no desire to clean up the postgame stuff. This games combat never evolved and came off as tedious mostly. i really liked the demo but i expected capcom to expand a bit more on the hacking. the end boss had some really fun hacking gimmick with having to play frogger through the lanes but the rest of the game had nothing.

>>737411928I liked it and it actually caught me off guard. the whole game is pretty lighthearted, not trying to be some 2deep4u, emotional sony moviegame experience, aside from a few moments and the writing is your typical anime or RE style stuff, a little generic and predictable. so I was sure we would get a simple happy ending. but it made me appreciate their relationship even more and gave the post game a bit of a melancholic touch

She carries all of the rage and resentment Higgins had at the end. Eight going full extinction mode is just a projection of doctor's own trauma. Diana is the one that evolves past her programming with Hugh's help, Eight remains a tool until the end. That's why she babbles about Diana being "ruined".
