EU just put out a statement in response to Stop Killing games saying that they are seeing if game companies are violating current law instead of needing to pass new laws.
This at first sounds good for game companies but actually it's far worse. If the EU decides current laws is the way to go that means all GAAS companies can get sued retroactively for shutting down games in the past.
Based EU about to sue Sony for shutting down concord and Ubisoft for the crew
>>
That is not what SKG is about. Concord was free and you cant buy it, you cannot own concord
>>
What is it about SKG that makes people seethe? It feels like it's not just paid shills, but what could a regular man possibly have against receiving more rights and protections?
>>
>>737414883
>Concord was free
It cost $40
>>
>>737414827
>all GAAS companies can get sued retroactively for shutting down games in the past
Will never happen
>>
>>737414827
>Hurts GAYS games
>Hurts their retard social messaging please forgive me for being white studios
>Hurts obnoxious European competitive gamers with their constant salt and retarded bullshit they're always spamming
This may be a retarded idea that only passive retards who have never written a line of netcode in their lives could support, but it sure is going to be funny.
The hehpill really is something else.
>>
>>737414827
Somehow I feel like this isn’t going to affect companies like EA, Ubisoft or Epic, but will affect Steam somehow lol. Get ready for Steam to get even worse
>>
>>737414827
>they are seeing if game companies are violating current law instead of needing to pass new laws.
So the laws werent being enforced

>>737414902
Same shit as with nuclear, fearmongering shills got into their minds.
>>
>>737414883
>Concord was free and you cant buy it, you cannot own concord
Concord was $40 and physical copies exist that you can still to this day install onto your PS5 and boot up. They will only go to the title screen but they do boot.
>>
>>737414827
>could be addressed through better enforcement or adaption of existing rules
in other words: the EU commission does not intend to take any action
>duration of supply
SKG doesn't demand that games get sold indefinitely
got a link to the statement? or did you pull it out of your ass?
>>
>>737415112
>other words: the EU commission does not intend to take any action
Opposite. It would mean immediate action can be taken instead of having to wait
>>
>>737414827
I wish they would retroactively force games to be available. It's bullshit you can't buy something like Driveclub any more.
>>
>>737414992
To be fair, Steam should be regulated as well. Because at the moment, your "ownership" and accessibility of your gaming library wholly depeds on Gabe's whim and that logically shouldn't be the case.
>>
>>737414827

>>
>they are seeing if game companies are violating current law instead of needing to pass new laws
You won't do shit, goy-cattle.

>#YWDSGC
>>
>>737415160
Bruh Steam’s gonna fucking die if they actually have to uphold a sense of ownership for players.
>>
>>737414992
It's probably not going to fuck all the random companies that pop up and shit out GaaS' all that hard either
If a random studio like the highguard studio makes a game and then shut it down what's the EU gonna do about it? The studio closes down there's nothing left to sue, and the smaller the studio is the less it makes sense to do
>>
>>737415212
Steam is going to die eventually at some point and then your library will get fucked anyway. So it's better to have some countermeasures against it.
>>
>>737415145
it means the EU commission thinks you should take it through courts using the existing law
the EU commission won't do anything
>>
>>737415258
We already have one, it is called goldberg
>>
>>737414902
It's incredibly simple, you're just too far gone in class war and "you're defending muh EVIL corporations" to actually think beyond your tribal retardation.
Honest people don't want their "rights" to come at the expense of mutual consent or slavery. You're enforcing unpaid labor by the devs for your whims despite agreeing to the ToS, the terms under which the company agreed to vend you the service.
This is the exact same bullshit as if the devs:
>"updated the ToS" for something you're already using
>Also never at any point remembered to put a clause in the old ToS saying they'd update it later
>You must now make a new account to play
>By the way it's your responsibility to fix the user side scripting if you want to keep playing our game despite us claiming to offer service still
>Also if you don't continue playing we will sue you because we lobbied for a new law allowing that. You have to keep paying to play until we say the game is "done" even though the agreement we had in the previous ToS let you just cancel any time

You'd be flabbergasted by what filthy niggers they were. But since it's "consumer rights" and "for the gamers" you loudly demand, just like a gay pride parade, that people congratulate you for being filthy niggers "for your benefit too bro I'm on your side".
You're not on my side, you're a filthy nigger demanding praise for being corrupt and anti-consent for the "correct" (Marxist) side and as per usual pretending it's "for everyone's good".
I'd love to see more games preserved.
I hate that anyone who uses your methods and doublethink for anything, let alone something relatively trivial, isn't hung.
>>
>>737414827
Based, I hope they fuck up the Korean MMO devs hard. They always release shovelware that they shut down a year later.
>>
>>737415275
Jeet babel media like shill
>>
>>737415275
Just like apple chargers
Or batteries
Or right to repair
Or car parts
Sure thing
>>
>>737414827
It didn't take too much for ubislop to implement an offline mode to the crew 2. Yes it's shitty, but it lets you play the game whenever you want even if the servers will be closed. And it can be done to ANY game. Only the greedy publishers who want you to constantly buy their next product would be against this.
>>
>>737415351
those were all new regulations
>>
>>737415216
Fines and arrests for non compliance in case of entry in EU for responsible persons.
>>
>>737414827
>can still buy physical books, movies, and songs from decades ago with relatively minimal effort
>can hardly find a physical game from previous gen after a few years into the current gen
>hell, can hardly find certain games mere weeks/months after release
Gaming is both simultaneously the biggest entertainment industry in the world by a wide margin while also being a bitch to actually find shit to buy.
>>
>>737415289
post nose
>>
>>737415413
SKG is going to be the newest
>>
>>737414902
I've talked to people that hate right to repair because they think it means they'll be forced to fix things themselves.
>>
>>737415507
reminder that gamestop regularly destroys physical games and other things that they fail to sell
>>
>>737415413
So what's stopping them from adding more regulations in this case?
Stricter enforcement or adaptation of existing rules is just easier than hastily adding new shit. Especially since it could fuck over faggots retroactively, unlike any new regulation.
>>
>>737415292
they'll just skip releasing in europe
>>
>>737415632
Probably what will happen but I will worry about it once they release a game worth playing.
>>
>>737415632
First of all, they won't, because Europe is a GARGANTUAN market (where else would they sell it? To Africa?)

Why are SKG trannies like this? Just read your own FAQ you d*scord tranny r*dditor.

>concord
Sony gave out refunds for Concord when they pulled the plug.
>>
>>737415690
Most their mmos are worth playing, especially on initial release, korea problem is that they ruin decent games with extreme overmonetization.
>>
>>737415632
They won't. Game devs are cucks who are more than happy to bend over and spread cheeks for the EU and make gaming worse as a whole in result. They're the reason why the casinos were removed in Pokemon and Dragon Quest. If devs/publishers actually had a spine they would just make a separate cucked version of the game for EU and allow the rest of the world enjoy an uncensored product.

contrarianism
>>

Not for gachas or korean mmos.
>>
>>737415002
Sony offered refunds for Concord so it wouldn't fall under the SKG initiative, clearly a special case though.
>>
>>737415606
>So what's stopping them from adding more regulations in this case?
corruption
>>
>>737415764
But you don't understand, releasing server software after the game goes EOS costs billions, they can't afford that, better to skip that market altogether
>>
What the difference between "eu" and third reich? I guess fascism really is euroshit nature. People of earth really should put an end to it
>>
>>737415847
Cope and seethe.
>>
>>737415871
The same corruption that stopped other billion dollar industries from fucking people over?
>>
>>737415810
Only one that I have found worth playing was Lineage II
Everything else was always showing an alpha version that looks 20 years ahead of the competition, releasing it too late if at all and it ends up being as interesting as a wet fart.
Maybe TERA was ok as well but like you said it was eventually ruined.
>>
>>737415916
No, read, you retarded nigger. If they're able to properly enforce existing laws to fix the same issue, they can absolutely "retroactively" fuck over companies. You know, since the laws already exist, and companies would be breaking them. SKG has absolutely fuckall to do with it.
>>
>>737415996
You're gonna have to buy the license again for the classic rerelase of your ubishit mmo in 2030.

EU's corruption manifests in different ways, just look at how many EU countries are used for tax avoidance
>>
>>737416121
NTA but what point are you trying to make?
>>
>>737416152
The point is the EU turns a blind eye to it's own corruption while trying to regulate others external to them.
>>
>>737416225
and how does that stop them from introducing more regulation, like they've successfully done before?
>>
>>737415843

Nah fuck off, corporations don't deserve the same "rights" as an individual because so many of these fucking niggers get big and throw their weight around with coercive practices, forced arbitration, etc. They get extra perks too like tax writeoffs and "better" representation through corporate lobbying. They can offshore labor to other countries with no penalty.
If IP laws weren't retarded and we returned to the original revolutionary American IP law this wouldn't be a problem, but we are like 150 years in to extended corporate lobbying at this point and all the "regulations" benefit big business that can swing their dick as opposed to the small business or individual. But you don't complain about the past regulation, and you REEEEE over one possible law benefiting the little guy instead.

Why are euros such commies?

It's because as well meaning as it is for consumer laws, giving more power to EU, which is already behind a lot of the Age Verification shit we see, it just going to give government control over video game corporations and they'll start to expand regulations until it means no tits, boobs, no gore, no "unsafe" content that the government doesn't approve of.

Watch it happen. Just watch it.

the US didn't need big regulations for that, only fiery but mostly peaceful organic protests
