I want to get an understanding of /v/'s actual playing habits, if such exist at allSo be honest anon, what types of games do you typically enjoy? Specifically which one did you last play and when?
I'm mostly an SP + co-op player.I've not been super excited of any sort of game release in years. The industry' been in a steep decline for the past 20 years.Doesn't mean I wouldn't keep finding something new to enjoy every passing year, but I mostly stick to older classics, both my favorites and titles I may have missed back in the day.Deep Rock Galactic has been me and my bros' go-to hanging out game for 7 years now, but even that we play less than we used to.
>>737416273Fighting games. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R mostly. Played it yesterday.
>>737416273i'm a wage slave with a steam deckso i mostly zone out playing balatro, poker night, or the occasional round of tf2 when i get home from work
>>737416273Nothing but SnowrunnerHit 2000 hours recently
I keep myself excited for games with great indies and I laugh in the face of losers who think indie is a genre or corporation or something and that they're al the same and thus have given up on it and refuse to see how many great options we have despite constantly complaining that there's nothing to play
>>737416578Would you recommend the steam deck? I'd like a handheld for the comfyness of it but I play mostly pc games, some of which aren't on steam, and emulate the occasional sega or nintender from various different consoles, so i never brought myself to buy a specific console since there would only be like 1 game i wanna play on itIs the steam deck easily used as a portable PC you can modify? Or is it basically just steam?
>>737416273I watch game rec channels, grab whatever draws my attention and throw them on the 'log, which I've recently consolidated and been treating it as a "plan-to-play-soon" list as opposed to an endless void of shit I'm never actually gonna get to. Recently played through Gunstar Heroes and loved it, now I'm playing Magical Pop'n.
>>737416668>Is the steam deck easily used as a portable PC you can modify? Or is it basically just steam?Yes, for this use case I'd recommend a dock for mouse and keyboard in the desktop mode to setup your non-steam gamesI play Simpsons Hit and Run, The Sims 2 (Ultimate Collection, NOT the 2025 re-release), reTHAWed on it added as non-steam gamesFor this, I also highly recommend the Decky loader with the plugin called 'SteamGridDB' which will allow you to assign proper artwork to non-steam games

>>737416668>>737416846although i will add, if you're trying to do gamepass or anything games requires anti-cheat Steam OS doesn't support then maybe check out one of the Windows handhelds instead...
