Vidya has hit the same issue the music industry has where it's so corporatized in the AAA market that people are losing interest. Every once in a while you'll get a decent game out of them but the budgets are too high to be risky and creative anymore which is why you keep getting the same genres with a different coat of paint or one gimmick. Its why Indies and lower budget AA games are blowing up because that's what AAA vidya used to be.
