11 is stupidly designed where the Double Gear system makes the game comically easy, and choosing not to use it makes it super hard. Mega Man games are usually somewhere inbetween.

Start with 5. It's pretty easy among the classic MM games but it's still a reasonable challenge.
4 is also a good entry point for the series because it's where the design really started solidifying.
