Just finished my first playthrough of Armored Core 6. Gotta say, that was fucking amazing, and I kind of regret not playing this on release. I had to go back to my old steam replay that year to figure out what the hell I was doing instead of this, and it turned out I was playing Cyberpunk in preparation for Phantom Liberty. Man, that release window was kind of packed wasn't it?
Amazing game, going right into NG+. Definitely wanna stick around and get those other endings.
Did anyone else let From down and miss this on release? I really hope it sold well, because I would love to see From revisit this in the future whenever they're ready. I saw a thread for this earlier last week, so it makes me wonder if anyone else is going back to it, or if it has just kept a dedicated following.
If you have any screenshots, share your ACs and build advice, because I really kept the same build for a majority of the game after I found a playstyle I liked.

Used this set up for most of the game, only swapping from the base pistols to these when I unlocked them. I fucking came when I saw that Raven uses the Pilebunker and Songbirds just like me. Perfect for a mirror match.

First build after swapping out all of the default parts. Was going for a jack of all trade's build and didn't really know what I was going for besides having a melee to capitalize on stun windows. This build saw the least amount of playtime, but I learned a lot of what not to do in it.

Second build was a full Schinder save the arms. This is the one where I really figured out that I wanted to lean into zipping around up close and really getting as much damage as I could in that stun window. The dual pistols had surprisingly high stun build up, and were really ammo efficient, so I really never saw a need to swap off of these weapons save for that pistol upgrade later.

And this finally led me to what I would settle on for the rest of the game. I found that I needed a bit more bulk, and ended up ditching the reverse joint legs. I really liked the jump height and how agile they were, but I found myself getting clipped anyways and needed that extra defense.
This set up stayed largely the same until after the Raven fight, where I made the aesthetic changes found in the first picture, of upping the red on my lights, and adding the wing decals to the back. Purely aesthetic, but I loved that story beat so much that it only felt right to lean into it.

Damn, I guess no one here really cares about AC6 rn. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>
AC6 was indeed awesome, glad you enjoyed it anon.

I have the filter to put Armored Core to the top and love this game but this board has a gachaslop infestation and AC6 hasn’t had DLC or anything new in over two years. I was optimistic about a new AC game at TGA but what we got just wasn’t the one I was hoping for.

It really was just an amazing experience start to finish. That first fight with Balteus will stick with me forever. Ayre's introduction through that fight, the fight with Balteus itself, and god, the song "Contact with you" playing for that fight just made such an impression on me.
Just saw that my local comic shop got some AC model kits in today. If this isn't a sign, idk what is. I'm gonna pick up Raven and 621 later and have a ball building them and keeping them on the shelf.
>>
>>737451507
Yeah, Balteus was a pretty good first proper boss since I won't count the helicopter.
>>
>>737452298
Yeah, everything before it was kinda on training wheels. Balteus was a real fight without any gimmicks though. Just you and him locked in an arena together with no cover.

It’s a great game, but frankly talking about it during it’s prime was more exhausting than anything. Especially all the “die hard” ac fans acting like the series that completely changed its formula twice before and did it a third time is suddenly not Armored Core anymore. I’m convinced more of them are upset they didn’t get AC turned into a content farm goldmine like Souls games are and had morons repeat it verbatim.

Anyway, certianly lot of stuff to be improved on and I hope a direct sequel or expansion title is soon. Have it lean on more dense level design and less open areas along with more tactical gameplay from 5th Gen.
>>
This game was wild. Honestly, it was my GOTY. Some of the fights got REALLY sweaty. Online multiplayer is cursed though.

Well I'll be honest here and say that 6 is my first AC game. With how much I've enjoyed it though, it does have me looking at going back and playing the rest of the series. Maybe its better that I wasn't there at release then, because I could totally see myself getting turned out of trying the older titles if I heard that kind of elitism over them. Makes them seem more intimidating than they probably are.
I can see what you mean with the level design though. I think my favorite level was the sunken city. sticking low and weaving between the densely packed sky scrapers was a lot of fun. Especially in Rusty's arena fight, that one was a blast, and the stage played a huge factor in that for me.
>>737452950
I had a lot of trouble with most of the quad leg arena fights, or just fights with quad legs in story missions. They're air superiority and tendency to carpet bomb shit got me clipped a lot, and I would end up taking too much damage by the time I caught up to them and got a stun proper.
I don't think I'll ever entertain the thought of playing online though desu. I feel like I'd just have a bad time getting outmaneuvered and stomped. More power to those that enjoy it, but I don't think its for me.

If you got to an ending once, just know that there's new shit that unlocks after beating the game including NG+ missions. I wouldn't worry too much about what to do on the second playthrough, just make different choices to get on a different route. Some of the missions from after beating the game are great to the point it makes sense to beat the game 3 times to see them all.

stagger bar and ricochet were ass mechanics tho
>>
>>737453357
Stagger was fine, it just helps melee weapons out by letting you create an opening to go in.

as you said you kinda missed the window. it's nice you're rediscovering mechakino though.
>>
>>737453357
I would rather not see either, but they helped make different weapons useful at different times.
>>
>>737453357
Like I said, definitely faults, but base ACV’s mechanics certianly had ass decisions about them which VD tried to fix and mostly did a good job at. AC4 1.0 might have earned Miyazaki’s head on a spike if that happened nowadays. But AC6 having its own ass mechanics and decisions doesn’t mean it’s now “Armored Souls”. Especially when if it was it probably would have sold better and liked more by the general populace. It just very blatant it needs its title sequel like it’s For Answer or Verdict Day.

Yeah I took a lap, then went straight into NG+. Just took down the Strider again. Took that alternate route in the mission with the Red Guns. Fighting them that early in the story was crazy, and a really interesting turn of events. It was a dick move to turn on them like that, and they understandably took it personally. Sorry about that Iguazu, bro just can't ever win. Lots of fun though, really looking forward to seeing how other events get shaken up later.

Both of you being in kill range of a pilebunker makes this clip even cooler than it already is, holy shit.
Well, Raven is anyways. I gotta wonder if a fully charged pile would rip through your HP even if you aren't staggered.

Back when it released it was the first game in a while that I 100%. There are a few criticisms I have still, but it is still the best newer mecha game by a mile. Best part besides the action is how it tells a compelling story without you ever seeing a face of a person. I hope they make a sequel eventually.

I know what you mean. I felt such a wave of awe and pride when I saw Rusty show back up to help you. I really thought he'd hate me after we were set up to kill each other, but him shedding the Corp, his old AC, and his change of emblem were all just such a perfect reveal. I was just so proud to see him come around.
And on the inverse of this, making the hard call to turn on Carla after she takes on the sole responsibility of her and Walter's mission to burn the coral, after having JUST pulled you out of the muck when you were at your lowest. That was genuinely a hard call to make, and it really hurt to see her pushed back into a corner there. God damn, what a great fucking game.
>>
I really wish the game had a co-op mode. Like the mod is fun. But I prefer playing this on deck.

it's funny how a game whose characters are either robots or png icons on a chat room has more characterization than the entirely of the souls franchise
>>
>>737455163
Hot damn, I never even thought about playing this on the deck. How does it run?
And I get what you mean. I've been talking with a friend about it during my playthrough and he ended up picking it back up as well. I'd love to tackle a mission with him, but the only multiplayer we have is versus, and there's no way I'd step foot in the ring with him.
How's the quality of that co-op mod? Any jank?

Even the one off characters who will just show up in one mission to jump you ooze personality. I actually pogfaced when I heard Jamieson Price's delivery as Rokumonsen.
