Flickstick is for people who navigate by an internal compass, the kind who will instantly know where to go when Google Maps tells them to head west.
Splatoon-style horizontal pan is for everyone else. Put it on high sensitivity and assign to buttons, you'll have an entire extra stick to twiddle.
