What are some more 3d games that have large interconnected interiors like RE trilogy or DeS and DS1? Must be pre-PS4 or indie.

Also MGS 2 with the Tanker and Big Shell. Less so in later ones because those mostly take place outdoors.

Ah, if you're fine with just singular locations, rather than multiple big locations, then sure.

Also, definitely need to bring up both System Shock 1-2 and Bioshock 1-2.

Ninja Gaiden Black
Pretty every chapter after 3 have you explore the city more and more, where you explore underground locations of the city and you unlock more doors that you weren't able to open

>large interconnected
MGS1 is as much of a corridor as FFX. There is no interconnection, hack Kojumbo just makes you backtrack the corridor three times.

off topic, these games are practically straight lines

A lot of the levels in Tomb Raider 3 are big sandboxes that loop back around in on each other. It makes the game's design very unique compared to the other games in the series. Tomb Raider 4 tried to expand the interconnections even further with backtracking through semi open world hub levels and puzzles that require you to travel to completely different locations but it was poorly designed in TR4 IMO.

But you would probably have to play Tomb Raider 1 and 2 first to "level up" with the difficulty curve to be able to beat TR3's improved levels because the trilogy is designed to be played one after the other, the challenge keeps increasing with every game

Alone in the Dark Trilogy
Realms of the Haunting, this one being special because is what Mikami envisioned RE1 to be if the shitty PS1 hardware supported that engine.
