Anything that restricts the player from engaging in the core systems like spring (can't shoot/melee/nade) or the abilities hurts the game and exists entirely to appeal to a wider more casual audience and proves that either the developer doesn't care or they literally have zero idea of why their game was good to begin with. I tend to lean towards the later and it's pretty obvious that is true considering the kinda filth Bungie made after they shit the bed with Reach. The campaign was fun tho I guess so long as you ignore the regression in core gameplay.

the sad thing is this is probably the best thing for halo at this point. they already demonstrated they cant give us a good main line game, and they cant do anything worthwhile with the plot. looking at the remake of halo 2 (the second remake of the same game) even that looks thrown together and like something soulless from half a decade ago. even prior employees have mentioned this.so the only thing they can do at this point is to make spin off games which are just gameplay and not something to take seriously and something that has little to no effect on the universe. if its fun good if it sucks it doesnt matter. i can take it or leave it. most of the fun ive had with halo for a long time (when i play it) is the firefight mode with strangers fucking around. or just playing the old multiplayer mode. if they just give us something simple where its a revised version of firefight and just something to have fun with, i will give it a chance. (if it looks good) but im not giving them a dollar until i see what they made. i havent bought a halo game since halo 4.i still play the old ones though. i enjoy playing odst firefight with people and i can see something with potential there where you drop down in the pods and have to improvise and think on your feet.
