This is Zelda at rock bottom. Such a horrible game in every possible way. Not fun by yourself and not fun with friends.
Triforce heroes was worse....
This was back when retarded nintendo had no idea what to do with the series so they threw in every shitty gimmick possible.
Toon Link got a lot of games, didn't he?
>>737471174Only 2 good ones
>>737470847This is my defense when some retard tries to tell me that "the best Zelda game was released when you were 12 years old".
>>737470847You're actually stupid.FSA is peak Zelda, its all dungeons and puzzle, no fluff, no bullshit 1-2 hours slog through intro cutscenes and areas, its nothing but the good shit, the stuff that is actually enjoyable about Zelda.
Yeah, things were weird there for Zelda in the 2000s.>2001 - Oracle of Ages/Seasons>2002 - LttP GBA/Four Swords>2003 - Wind Waker>2004 - Four Swords Adventures>2005 - Minish Cap>2006 - Twilight Princess>2007 - Phantom Hourglass>2009 - Spirit TracksOutside of two major console releases, it was just a bunch of random shit. Is Twilight Princess remembered so fondly because of the weird shit released immediately before and after it?
>>737471381I remember twilight princess because it has the hottest Zelda
>>737470847>play this with friends recently >4 cords, 4 GBAs>one of the GBAs needs a new battery>dies mid game>figure its like Crystal Chronicles and he can just tap back in with our back up/wait>the fucking game quits to title>lose all progress on the village puzzle levelYep its pretty shit and probably the only Zelda game I wont even complete
>>737471381Don't forget the Tingle spinoff series.
>>737470847I got hard stuck on one level of this game as a kid, I could not for the life of me figure out what I had to do to progress. That's really the only reason I have a negative impression of it, I didn't think it was that bad otherwise. I should try replaying it to see if I can finish it, I don't know if I was just a retarded kid or what. I finished all the other 2D Zeldas back then though.
>>737471381>fantastic two games>good, if flawed re-release of one of the best games of the series on a portable series>solid console title>interesting gimmick title>original GBA title even if it was kind of mid compared to other games>solid console title>solid handheld title hamstrung by control method>okay yeah Spirit Tracks kinda sucks"Random shit" my ass, 2000-2010 delivered solid titles every 2 years or so
>>737471494I can't believe they actually localized Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Yeah Europe only, but still.
>>737470847Nah it's fine. I'm probably the only person ITT still with a physical copy. It's just ABLW but with the Four Sword gimmick instead of the portrait one and a Mario style world board.
>>737471381I mean other than FSA and Spirit Tracks, those are all pretty solid games. But yes, I think the identity of the series did have a bit of an identity crisis, with a split between the cartoony Toon Link games, and the darker, more realistic fantasy of ALTTP/OOT/TP, and I do think a big part of TP's appeal is that it leaned heavily into the latter. There are a lot who prefer that style for Zelda, even to this day there are people upset that BOTW went somewhere in between and we never got a game in the style of the Wii U tech demo. Admittedly I'm one of them, I like Wind Waker too and some of the other games in its style, but Ocarina and TP just hit different.
>>737471381>We used to get 1 B+ (at minimum) game per year.>Now we have to wait 6 years to get a B- at best.
I put FSA at rock bottom among the mainline Zeldas but not because the game itself is bad. It's actually fine once you get it going, but the problem is getting it going. Nintendo had the absolute audacity to expect people to buy 3 GBAs and 3 link cables, and then have you sit 3 of your friends down with that setup for an entire game. It was cute as a side mode in the GBA port of ALttP, but if they wanted to make a leap to consoles then they needed to just let 4 people play on the same screen with a goddamn controller. That would solve literally everything wrong with it and it would be recognized as probably a mid tier Zelda for it.
>>737470847I liked it with friends, though Tri Force Heroes is a better iteration of its ideas. A lot more of the puzzles in Tri Force Heroes feel better designed for co-op, while FSA just kind of drops a lot of bullshit on the screen to up the difficulty for four people. Either way, I miss when games had co-op campaigns like this as opposed to the modern friendslop genre. I'm running out of good games to play with my friend group.
>>737471174Why is Minish Cap missing?
OP is the dumbest motherfucker imaginable, FSA is scaled for proper singleplayer. TFH is not. FSA has the best Kakariko Village level in the entire franchise too.
>>737472620>FSA has the best Kakariko Village level in the entire franchise too.Yeah because it's literally a level/dungeon instead of just a village hub.
>Not playing Four Swords Adventure with five TVs, five gamecubes, and four link cablesIt was the closest thing Nintendo had to a LAN party.
>>737471381>good games appear so seldomly today that a list of solid to decent games is "weird stuff"kek
>>737471009You say that and the most recent Zelda games they've released have been a Zelda mousou and TOTK. They're still at the same fucking shit, it's just that Nintendo can moonwalk into money, even when their ideas/games are shit, like 80% of the time.
>>737472620>FSA is scaled for proper singleplayer, TFH is notyes that's exactly the problem, I have no idea how nintendo expects you to drag your friends through these huge levels with some pretty obtuse puzzles where you can constantly fuck each other overI don't know what's wrong with designing your multiplayer game around multiplayer first?yes TFH sucks in singleplayer but is amazing if you have friendsFSA is a slog to get through either way, but even less fun in multiplayeralso this game was basically a precursor to the wii U, where you had to sometimes look down on your GBA screen for no good reason
>>737471174wtf is tetra's trackers?
>>737470847are you fucking retarded? this game is a blast to play with friends if you can get a setup goingwhenever i play this with friends we always have a fun timei really hope they do somesort of port that has online play someday
>>737474875The main problem I have with it is Shadow Battle is one-life only, which is super lame for a chaotic deathmatch mode. It's really fun, but it'd be even more fun with like a timed mode instead of winner-take-all every time.
>>737474963yeah versus is also a shitton of fun, so many different ways to fuck over your opponents
>>737474610Japan-exclusive minigame that was in Four Swords Adventures. I think the reason was because Tetra was voiced and would give you instructions on the TV screen, and I think they didn't want to translate and higher a voice actress to read the lines.
>>737470923FPBP, TFH is what happens when you don't try to make a multiplayer Zelda title, but half-ass a singleplayer game with multiplayer because the game people want is in dev hell.>>737471941Make that two.
>>737471494rosy rupeeland is pretty shit when you think about itthe core barter mechanic is literally just guessworkthere are no tells or anything to tip you off, so you either savescum or keep a list from gamefaqsand you HAVE to ask the optimal price or you basically just softlocked your save as there's no way to keep the tower up just by selling items
>>737470847>not fun with friendsThe PvP mode with friends is probably the most fun I've had with the series.
>>737476084Tanabe is so bad at game design. Wish he got booted off sooner but Japanese seniority wins out.
>>737471381Zelda fans used to be so spoiledNow we have breath of the wild and breath of the wild- full priced glorified dlc edition
>>737476921Hey now, we also have Breath of the Wild: Musou edition and Breath of the Wild: Musou edition 2
>>737477278Cant wait for breath of the infinite warfare
