The entire reason why Sequel was promising was that we could get the last 3 NES games in a consistent style as the Genesis. Now it's going to be splintered with a great 4 entry, and a bloated 5 entry that might never come out, and a 6 entry that will definitely never come out. 7's sprites are also gigantic and are affecting boss fights and level designs. You could already see that take effect in the Napalm man video they showed off where everything is cramped. This is just extra development time wasted on making 2 versions of the same game rather than just making 5 and 6 off the base of 4.

Mega Man style character controller isn't so compelx that it's impressive enough on its own. It's an incredibly basic game, and for the amount of supposed talent behind it, its a massive let down. MM10 Hard Mode is the best game in the series, alters enemy behavior and gives bosses extra attacks and has really devious enemy placement changes. It's the gold standard for how to do a hard mode without just turning enemies into damage sponges.I am an expert on this subject.
>>737473393I like a lot of the features in 9 and 10, I just think they were retreading old ground. MM1-6 are very abstract in what's good about Mega Man. His sprite is a bit goofy for example and his threats don't seem like threats and more akin to saturday morning cartoon shenanigans, but they're more polished/playable than a lot of other NES games of that era so they're absolutely worth playing. Mega Man 7 is the first game that ever made me truly think Mega Man was genuinely "cool", at least until the X series also did it. 8 took it back to being goofy ass shit again and honestly looked worse to me despite the fact that the Saturn/PS1 technically can do more than a SNES.
