There was literally no point to these. It's not like Madden where I understand why people buy them yearly even if it's not my cup of tea, but I NEVER understood buying Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Organizing and then playing the actual sport of football (or more likely touch football because you don't have the equipment) is a lot harder to do than getting good at guitar.

in b4

>NOOOOO! I CAN'T GET GOOD AT GUITAR! YOU SHOULD GET GOOD AT FOOTBALL!!1

No, you, YOU, right now, could buy a guitar and learn it and get good at it. Or drums. Or bass, or any of the other instruments these games recreated. There's no need for some weird simulacrum of it.
>>
a copy of guitar hero with the peripheral was like $100. takes probably a few hours of playing to start beating expert level songs. compare this to how expensive and time consuming learning guitar is.
>>
You can learn basic chords in like 30 minutes and you can practice basic strumming patterns in an hour.
>>
you don't understand the purpose of video games
>>
>>737478361
Yes I do. The most football I can do IRL is play catch with my son
>>
You graduated... right, anon?
>>
>>737478215
Guitar Hero and Rock Band weren't ever meant to be serious substitutes for actually learning to play instruments, just like DDR and all its clones weren't meant to be a substitute for learning how to dance.
Guitar Hero was a serious of games that used music as an excuse to give you a more complex dexterity challenge by way of a skeuomorphic guitar themed controller. Which got expanded by Rock Band into a near-identical bass themed controller, a drumkit themed controller, and a really shitty Karaoke scoring system just to round it out and give your clumsy ass third wheel friends a way to participate.
>>
>>737478215
The point is to have fun, or are you implying that there is no point for games like DDR, Bemani, Elite Beat Agents or Just Dance?
>>
>>737478579
>just like DDR and all its clones weren't meant to be a substitute for learning how to dance.

DDR unironically teaches you more about dancing than Guitar Hero teaches you anything about guitars.
>>
>>737478215
>I hate fun
hey op, go fuck yourself
>>
>>737478606
Guitar Hero doesn't really teach you shit about guitars since it's reduced to 5 buttons but playing Pro Drums in Rock Band made playing normal drums feel very normal.
>>
>>737478606
Hopping around like a retard on the spot, synchronized to the attack of arbitrarily selected instrument sounds isn't dancing. In the same way that pressing five buttons and flicking a lever in time with the attack of each guitar note isn't translatable to playing guitar.

These games broadened my musical horizons and introduced me to many fantastic musicians during my teenage years. I also had some fun times with friends playing them back when I could tolerate such things as other people's company. I remember them fondly.

>Hopping around like a retard on the spot, synchronized to the attack of arbitrarily selected instrument sounds isn't dancing.

1. Dancing isn't an art, it's about moving your body to the beat (and sometimes you don't even have to do that)
2. You have to be willing to get up there and kinda/sorta embarrass yourself

That's a good starting point for dancing actually.

That's because the Rock Band drumkit was already basically a stripped down, awkwardly arranged, electronic trainer kit. Adding the extra cymbal inputs just added what it was missing, and the note highway notation could work just like piano roll notation does for piano learners.
>>
>>737478709
>>737478943
Yeah I read reviews saying Rock Band drumming was as close to the real thing as just real drumming. I hope some gamers managed to escape and do something with it.
>>
>>737478808
there was a part in the dio documentary where he talks about how guitar hero singlehandedly revived his career
>>
>>737478215
They're party games. Also I would say starting a band is way harder than getting a real life sports game going.
>>
>>737478818
>Martial Arts exist.
>The anon becomes confused and hurts itself in confusion.
Art refers honing a skill to an aesthetic beauty through learning and mastery. Most people lamented the death of knighthood and the feeling of being special for mastering the blade as a form art going out of style due to early firearms came around. You don't know English language if you miss this important point because you are a zoomer nigger from non western country. (India isn't western, get ran over by a train.)
>>
playing the guitar unironically sucks

fuck those calluses and fuck having to grow out your nails for it
>>
>>737479289
Unc on the timeline coping hard about wasting his fucking life on guitar hero (lmao)
>>
>>737479325
Never coped, you should rope. You are subhuman Dhalit Benchod.

It's a hobby in and of itself
>>
>>737479302
There's guitar picks for the fingers that act as nails, you can always apply moisturizing cream every now and then and calluses don't get too bothersome.
>>737479359
League of Legends/DotA do however?
>>
>>737479441
>There's guitar picks for the fingers that act as nails
Let's be honest those are a clumsy solution and barely work.
>>
>Kinect (2010)
>Wii U (2012)
>Guitar Hero Live (2015)
Is the age of video game accessories over? VR and driving/flying doesn't really count, they're their own thing or older than videogames themselves. They're not new, and it doesn't seem like anyone is going to make something like guitar hero ever again, a game that depends on an accessory that cant be used on other types of games.
>>
that's why I only play YARG on edrums only lmao it's the next logical step
>>
>>737480747
they need to add hi hat pedal
>>
>>737480823
and which input would that be in those games?
>>
>>737478215
So when you see someone playing DDR do you assume they're doing it to try and get better at dancing?
>>
>>737479302
It's true. I briefly took some lessons as a kid. Thought I was doing it wrong at first but the instructor was just like "Oh yeah, playing guitar hurts for the first few months".
I did not finish the classes.

My older brother was an excellent guitarist. One time I watched him get mad because he was fucking up a song on guitar hero and I laughed so he went and got his guitar and stood there in his bathrobe and just played the actual song on his real guitar perfectly while the track kept playing on the TV making that thunking noise when you miss a note.
>>
>>737478454
I bought the steam version of this and it literally doesn’t work. Otherwise I’ve been mostly practicing guitar via YouTube and other apps.
>>
>>737478215
>There's no need for some weird simulacrum of it.
There is no need for any kind of videogame so this argument doesn't matter. I agree with everything else though.
>>
>>737478398
Your son not letting himself be caught by you for fear of being raped again is not a sport.

I won, Guitar Queeros and Cock Banders lost.
>>
I don't care about learning guitar anyway

I just want that drop tuning of nu metal riffs and I'm done I play them like percussion more than like some virtuoso wanking some phallic object anyway
>>

You're an actual fucking moron.
>>
>>737484794
When you're 30+, who you getting to play football with you?
>>
>>737478215
I don't wanna play guitar, I wanna play guitar hero

You didn't get the live version, right Anon?
Also it doesn't work without the official cable, unless you swap a .dll file.
>>
>>737478454
I learned how to play guitar from Rocksmith.
>>
>>737478215
meme, just play the real guitar
>>
Guitar Hero made my fingers less retarded so I was able to play real guitar eventually. I also discovered some of my favorite bands through GH/RB.
>>
OP is right. There's no point in playing GH or Rock Band when Gitadora exists.
>>
>>737478215
I used to play these games with my dad and friends. They're not that deep, just fun.
>>
>>737482051
