'83 launches in 3 hours. Did the beta really kill all the hype?
>>
>>737482087
Price?
>>
>>737482087
How big are the servers?
Does it have tanks?
Does it have jets?
>>
>>737482750
40v40. No player controlled jets. Yes tanks
>>
>>737482591
iirc $30, regional
>>
>>737482087
>Can't preorder
>No price given
>No idea about server browser/general functionality at launch
>3 maps only
I mean I have been waiting for this since 2019, but it's like they purposefully want to kill the game.
>>737482750
Tanks are shown in gameplay. T63-B for soviets I know is one of them. Actually looked pretty decent, though they have will take like 5+ RPG shots to destroy which might fuck up the balance.
>Jets
No. Although helicopters as important as they where for theme in rising storm, fucking sucked most of the time. They looked cool through. I don't think we will ever see worthwhile functional jets again in anything but a pure military autism simulator. Still we are getting white phosphorus artillery strikes which i am excited for since the napalm strikes in rising storm Vietnam where perfect.
>>
>>737484243
>>3 maps only
Seriously?
>>
>>737484436
Yes and 2 game modes. Which is fine since I only ever played territories 95% of the time and the campaign mode in rising storm Vietnam to get the different "endings" that changed history. Since this game is entirely fictional they won't even have that.
>>
>>737484672
This shit is going to be DOA
>>
>>737482087
It was unbelievably bad
No way they can accumulate enought people even for a few servers
>>
>>737484243
Battlefield had jets
>>
>>737482087
RS2 was my favorite multiplayer game of all time but I have heard literally nothing about this other than the reveal trailer years ago and didn't even know it was releasing soon
>>
>>737485727
I hope not since battlefield 6 was absolute ass and there is currently nothing in the less casual then call of duty but not as autistic as hell let loose/arma category of military large scale squad shooters.
>>
>>737485882
I said we would never see them again, not that they never existed, saar.
>>
>>737485907
We need somthing like battlefield combined with foxhole or planetside 2z or any other persistent war game.
>>
>>737482087
What hype?
>>
Kinda surprised to see this game released. I thought it was going to be vaporware.
>>
The 2nd beta was ok
>>
>>737485894
it's no longer the same dev and plays completely different to RS2. Cheap asset flip. They had an open beta and it sucked.
>>
>>737484243
>though they have will take like 5+ RPG shots to destroy
oh cool its the Squad tranny devs then
>full simulation autism for infantry
>but arcade mode for vehicles because I like to get easy kills haha chaingun go brrrrrrt :)
>also we will delist your server permanently if you don't ban instantly anyone being sexist or transphobe :3
>>
>>737487095
Why are you bringing up squad? That game is shit.
>>
>>737486734
They changed it since the open beta
>>
Answer me this: How lethal are the guns. 1 shot (body, center mass) = 1 kill?
>>
>>737487858
pretty much yeah
>>
>>737487875
>pretty much yeah
With 5.56?
>>
>>737487961
I don't remember, I always double tapped.
>>
>>737487858
>Insurgency
They pulled a fast one with the sequel and kept changing the game modes every 2 weeks until it became unbalanced and twitch shooter slop.
>>
>>737482087
I played the beta and lost all interest
>but they fixed it
Well I was never in the beta with those fixes and I'm not paying for this game
>>
I'm waiting for this shit to release and an hour ago it said it would be out in less then an hour.
>>
Out now
>>
>>737490565
lol no one cares. Game is DOA.
>>
>>737482087
Huh, shouldn't I have gotten an email about it
>>
I'll take the risk and grab it but only because it's cheap
Wait are there Australian servers? my internet has been even worse than usual lately, or at least some good singapore servers (I am roughly equal between the east coast and singapore
>>
>>737482087
I'm gonna wait for the steam reviews
>>
roadmap just released
https://steamcommunity.com/games/1059220/announcements/detail/492723157169341085?snr=2___
>>
>>737491246
they launched without progression, cosmetic customization, and a tutorial? lol
>>
>>737491861
Launching with no progression is fine, but what is giga cancer is launch with progression and then reseting everybodies progress when you overhaul progression like I had with starship troopers: extermination while killed my enthusiasm to play much more, weirdly though I had one friend who somehow kept his progress, nobody else I knew did

Why play '83 when I can play Reforger? Developers are pretty retarded
>>
>>737491861
>Progression
Zoom zoom
>>
>>737482087
The fact that the devs had to be told by the community to add boxed free aim to their Rising Storm successor doesn't bode well for the rest of the game.
>>
>>737490920
ah there is is, I got it 27 minutes ago, just took a bit
>>
How is it? The nextfest demo was one of the worst fps I've ever played. Is it improved at all?
>>
>>737492204
Because Arma is nothing like rising storm which this game is a sequel too?
>>
>>737492480
And they only added it as an op-in option, you can still play without it which just gives people who wanted it a disadvantage anyway.
>>
>>737482750
It has tanks and jeeps. No helicopters or jets. It's 40v40 (probably because UE5 can't handle anything more than that, and is already a technical mess as it is).
>>
>>737491861
>expanded battle chatter
They didn't complete recording the voices
>commander ability
>new vehicle class
Didn't even implement core game mechanics that the map design should revolve around. 40v40 is also too small to have mutiple apc on top of jeeps and tanks imo
Also
>basic server management in community request
>bipod jank that never get fixed in past games
>no dolphin dive

>>737492204
Different scale/subgenre. Reforger copied Squad and has logi busy work and brushwrecking issue. This is supposed to be ro/rs successor with focused on refined gunplay and movement. Except they have no money, talent or original idea to save them from being DOA
>>
>>737492567
I never used this shit in rising storm desu. It's no wonder they only added it in to please autists.
>>
>>737492834
>Dolphin dive
Please tell me this is bait
>>
>>737482087
What killed it for me was that bullshit limited time to play.
Can't think of a dumber approach, maybe a paid access.
>>
>>737491246
>early access
>$30
>only 3 maps
>only 3 more maps currently planned by "full release"
>UE5 slop
>all those missing basic features
>currently only 400 people playing

Jesus Christ. Show this to the retards crying about Marathon still to explain what an actual flop looks like. This game and the devs are so cooked.

Are you Indian?
>>
>>737493164
The game has no price displayed, which is available on games you can preorder. Until it releases an hour ago there was no way to tell. Are you a dev trying to shill? The game is looking DOA.
>>
>>737493074
>400 people playing
It's been out for one hour. Give it till the weekend.
>>
>>737482087
Absolutely. It was genuinely awful. No way I'm spending a cent on this until they prove to me that they actually made it good and fixed/changed everything. Frankly though, I think the devs and game will be shut down in a few weeks. This early access launch is a move of sheer desperation because they need money. It's not ready and it isn't going to sell well enough to keep their doors open or finish this abortion.
>>
>>737482087
Does this game have levelling to get to the commander, like on rising storm Vietnam? If it has no level 30 commander unlock at EA, it's fucking worthless, because you need experienced players only in that role.
>>
>>737493504
>Looks awful
Really. I'm looking at a stream of the gameplay and it looks great.
>>
>>737493327
Games that aren't botting their playercounts like Crimtroon Desert always peak between noon and 5 PM central on launch day. Whatever this ends this afternoon at is where it stays.
>>
>>737493519

>>

You mean the game that sold 5 million copies and is singleplayer only. Are you a fucking retard?
>>
>>737493660
Are you saying there is no control over artillery strikes on launch? That is like half the game!
>>
>>737493696
It was the name they chose 7 years ago after they made Rising Storm Vietnam.
>>
>>737493757
The people making this game do not understand RO2/RS2 and failed utterly at making a successor to them. It's not the same people or company and it shows.
>>
>>737493878
It's the same people who made Rising Storm Vietnam.
>>
>>737493930
No it isn't.
>>
>>737493954
Blue Dot Games is an independent studio formed by key former members of Antimatter Games (developers of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam.)
>>
>>737494101
>key former members

Clearly not considering how hard they botched this kek
>>
Operation Flashpoint was released 25 years ago and has never been beaten. Even the arma sequels fail to capture OFP's magic.
>>
The promo clips from years ago show British troops instead of American and are in UE4, after the Embracer fiasco it seems they just scrapped the whole thing and started anew in UE5 which is why it's such a mess and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the devs quit inbetween.

These unlisted videos show what the game looked like in 2019 and didn't really seem to have progressed much during the open beta 6 months ago.

UE5 absolutely killed this game, as it does all games that use it. What a shame. If they had stayed with UE4 it probably would have been good. It's in utter fucking shambles as of right now though.
>>
oof yeah this game is going to die quickly. its hard enough being indie but you need a big launch to cushion away 90% of your players leaving. if it cant even crack 1k, then when 90% of players leave, theres not even going to be enough players to fill a single server.
>>
>>737482087
Played it in alpha and beta testing.

Game was absolutely terrible every step of the way. Looks and feels like a crappy CoD clone from 2005. Yes that includes the most recent playtests.
>>
>>737494523
Yeah. 11 AM already and it's barely above 800 players. It's so fucking over.
>>
>>737494167
Funny, because the only Operation Flashpoints I liked were Dragon Rising and Red River on Xbox 360.
>>
>>737494629
800 already is fine. It'll hit over 2k by the weekend since it's already doubled and most people are still wagecucking.
>>
>>737494828
No it won't. Peak is always launch day. It has another 6 hours to hit that, and if it doesn't, it never will. Also, 2000 players is still laughably low. It's DOA.

it needs to hit way more than that. especially with an EA release that has limited content most of those people will leave. 90% of 20k, still enough people left to play the game. 90% of 2k, GG.

The base player controller and core gameplay are fine. 83 feels like a functional game, even if barebones. I couldn't say the same about RS2 on launch.

Yikes! I loved rising storm but this game doesn't seem like its anywhere near ready. $30 for an early access game where you basically have to hope the server has enough people in it is not a good look. I'll just stick to buttfield6 for now and wait to see if this game slingshots around.
>>
>>737501494
6 maps on planned launch is on par with RS2 and KF1.

The longevity of 83 will depend on whether they release the tools to make the maps. That's why RO2 and RS2 got so much post-release content, they just paid the modders. Rising Storm was going to be a mod to begin with.
>>
>>737501714
It essentially is. One of Antimatter founders acquired everything '83 related and tried to hire as many of former AMG as possible.
>>
I'm investing all in on '83 coins. You guys are gonna be super jealous once this game pops off!
>>
>>737501943
It's really not. Again, at no point was this ever being developed by Anti-matter or Tripwire. It has no affiliation. Some people who worked on it used to work there and that's all (allegedly, for all we know they could have quit years ago since it's spent nearly a decade in development hell).
>>
>>737501726
Breaks my heart, but I'm doing the same. 500 players on day ond indicates the servers will be a ghost town in a week though. I hope they can turn this around and make a good game, but I'm certainly not giving them the benefit of the doubt today.
>>
>>737499512
That's not what a "concord" game is
>>
>>737501726
What could they even realistically pull off to push it up to even 1/2 of RS2's playerbase from this low of a starting point?
>>
>>737502586
Yes it is. A failed multiplayer shooter in 2026 that is spectularly flopping after 7+ years of stalled development is the definition of a Concord-like.
>>
>>737502680
Lower the price by half, fix the gunplay, make it actually feel like RS2, and add some more maps. Bare minimum to even be worth giving another chance. UE5 alone is standing in the way of it being decent though.

Realistically this game and the developer are shutting down within the next month, it's flopping way too hard for it to end any differently. They haven't said it, but the unsubtle vibe from the devs is that they are basically out of money.

Even with how rough this game is now, if it had around 10,000-20,000 people playing I probably would have kept it instead of refunding. These games are always at their most fun in their first few weeks when the playerbase is large and full servers are easy to find, and cheaters/hacked community servers don't exist. But 500 people? It's so dead it hurts. That's only about 6 full servers for reference.

Based day of infamy bro. The graphics where absolute shit and the gunplay was sourced garbage but damn did they try with the shitty bones they had.

I feel almost entirely done with these big milsim games. Feel like I've played them all and they can't really offer me much.
When someone makes a strong effort to bring back a planetside-style MMOFPS call me up for that

>>737499512
Concord cost 375 million dollars to make.
>>
Better than I expected, but I couldn't find a populated server for the Frontline game mode, which sucks. It feels a bit undercooked and basic, while somewhat serviceable. Player count quite low and dropping also. I'm going to refund for now and keep an eye on it.

so did planetside 1, don't matta, they're interesting games with ideas that are barely explored by shooters, planetside 1 especially

"good gunplay" is overrrated do interesting mechanics you can only get so far with fodder for youtube gun animation compilations

I don't know what the budget for this game is or was, but just doing some quick math and assuming 600 people own the game and didn't refund and subtracting Steam's 30% cut, they devs have only made ~$11,340 today.

I don't think that's gonna be enough lol

Game flopped hard but youre the biggest retard itt.
>>
>>737505794
The game peaked just above 800 players just before sharply dropping down to 600 a couple of hours ago, and has remained below that ever since. These are the only numbers to work witn and it seems pretty clear that the total ownership is not much higher than the assumed 600 (despite the current players being 530). I'm being generous here. Obviously there could be a couple hundred more owners than what I used to find out that total, but they definitely have not sold more than 1000 copies with the playercount as it is I can promise you that. Regardless, they've made at best maybe $15-$20k on a game that certainly would have cost hundreds of thousands more than that to make.

The problem with these type of games is basically that Hell Let Loose exists.
And therefore they will always be compared to it, and crumble horribly in comparison.

Speaking of, I just got invite to HLL Vietnam, high hopes for that one to be "the" Vietnam game from now on. RS2 was alright but way too limited still.

HLL and those Squad-lite games suck because they have these shitty logi parts that drag the game down. No I dont want to go in the cuck truck and drop off boxes while everyone else gets to have fun and play the game. No I dont want to flank 100 miles and not see a firefight for 10 minutes, and if I do get into a fight, it will be like against 4 people because the maps too fucking big. I want to spawn in, run for 20 seconds at most and have to fight a heavily fortified position that i cant simply walk 10 minutes around, I and my team NEED to kill the 30 people holed up in the objective through well timed pushes and call-ins.

red orchestra 2 filled a really nice niche of having autism milsim combat in a small map so you aren't spending your time running from points. battlefield is the only game out there now that has players.

Bro nobody likes these bush sniping games, Squad did it first so that's why it still has a playerbase even though it's fucking garbage, none of the imitations last. I'm still mad Rising Storm 2 is dead because they didn't include bots or PVE so you're forced into the PVP sweatfest which nobody stuck around for after a month.

U dont drive logi trucks in HLL though unless you really want to, supplies for bases are usually dropped by commander via parachute

And nothing is stopping you from joining a squads that are going frontal assault on the next objective, that will always be a constant firefight

The only real problem is when you have those gay russian front maps like Kursk, where if theres a good crew in a tank they can just close off large sections of the map (since its just plains lol)
>>
Deep down I think we all knew that six months wasn't enough to fix all the crap that made it such a letdown in November, especially considering they had more than enough development time by that point, but still sucks to see.

A few weeks back I had a dream that I was back in RS2 having a blast in the jungle. Almost tempted to reinstall and try to see if I can experience some of that again, but at this point I feel it's better to let it remain a fond memory and move on.

That’s what they tell everyone. Those who were invited to the first wave of the closed beta test get a Steam key sent to them.
>>
>>737512187
Since you have to link your Steam to sign up, they'll probably just add it to your account automatically when it starts. That's what I would assume.
>>
>>737511836
I remember the sound of getting headshotted in RS2 at the release. Fucking earrape with how loud it was, especially when wearing a helmet, for something that you can almost never see coming. Was one of my biggest peeves with the game at the time. Months later they added an audio setting to lower it which made it fine, but I don't know what they were thinking not doing that at the start or at least setting it at a more reasonable volume.
>>
>>737488086
I know. I spoke heavily against the absolutely retarded decision to have the BTK be 2 shots for 5.56 during the alpha. Low an behold: everyone used the FAL with long barrel because it could 1 shot like OG Insurgency then when they nerfed that the m14. Dishonest jerks.

Is '83 the replacement for the Kino that is Insurgency though? I will only buy if I can 1 shot 1 kill for high lethality gunplay.
>>
RS2 was great on launch but any time after that, it was over. Did they ever even patch the RCEs? Servers were maintained by russian hackers that gave players computer AIDS if they connected to those servers, which were the only servers that existed, because the hackers DDOSed all the normal human servers. That's what killed the franchise.
>>
>>737513173
Every time I want to play RS2 again, I remember this and decide not to. A shame because it was a great game. Those hacked servers were such cancer and last time I played they were all there was and disguised themselves as legitimate ones (which are really just redirects and not real).
>>
>>737512732
There are only 450 people playing this right now, so no, I don't think it's replacing a damn thing.
