Thank you to whomever told me about Moonlight because this shit works great
The only problem is my Steamdeck now feels completely and totally useless. It was always too big to take around on trips so I only used it to play games in bed, but now that I can do that with this there's really no point to it. I can't even really justify using it as an emulator because any modern phone is just about as good at emulating stuff
>>
>>737492186
Same ive been using cloud gaming and it makes the steamdeck look like a 40yr console
What controller is that anon?
>>
I'll never understand playing games like these on a portable.
Everything looks tiny, the detail at the distance is completely just gone, even at a high PPI. It's like watching a movie on a fucking phone.
Anyways I would say this isn't a bad solution if latency is as low as it is with moonlight/sunshine on the deck
>>
>>737492186
This is why I got a Odin 3 over a Deck or ROG. They're just too bulky and battery dies asap. My Odin is lightweight and lasts for days without a charge even going heavy on it.
>>
>>737492186
Most soulless way to play vidya is with a phone controller
>>
>>737492186
Enjoy video games and stop complaining about your past decisions.
>>
Remember HVEC is for home, AV1 is for long trips. Knowing these two makes all the difference in the world.

how's your transition going?

its been a game changer honestly OP
>>
>>737493052
he's already using troonlight so pretty good I'd bet
>>
Sell the deck?
Honestly rather than play with a garbage telescopic controller with added android latency and having to fight notifications and the urge to charge the thing (unless you never use your phone for anything else), I would grab one of those premium chinkhelds that can still be used for this purpose and are considerably lighter than the deck without going stupid small (and with better controls for sure).
>>
Deck still mogs all chinkhelds and has 8h of battery when streaming
>>
>>737493337
8-12h is the typical battery life on these premium chinkhelds playing real games. streaming will last you days is the equivalent of watching a youtube video but without the network rape from google.

I really hate this shit.
>>
>>737493052
Folding phones rock
>>
>>737493546
Yeah but you're running android, the most soulless OS imaginable
>>
>>737493337
>has 8h of battery when streaming
Which still isn't as good as a typical phone
If you're planning on streaming there's no point to having a deck
>>
>>737492186
PSP, Vita and DS Lite are the perfect size handhelds.
Give me a steamdeck that's a size of one of those and I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
>>
>>737493785
Deck is nice because it does it all
>>
>>737493648
These handhelds support Linux. They have MESA Support just like Steam Deck.

jack of all trades master of none. Deck is the rainbow neos.
>>
>>737492186
Just install moonlight on it lol
>>

What does it not master

Elaborate because every Snapdragon device is basically a Linux device.

they can't even survive sand
actually not even a fingernail
>>
>>737494204
What about x86 games
>>
>>737494271
not him but winlator exists
>>
Always remember you're necessarily talking with the brain damaged who can't feel massive latency.
>>
>>737494196
deck is a rdna2 device it doesnt even do av1 encode, fsr4, or any of the modern shit.
>>
>>737494306
Sounds like a nightmare to have to juggle another translation layer on top of wine
>>
>>737494271
Have you been sleeping under a rock? DXVK works on Linux/Android. The only requirement is a competent Vulkan driver (RADV on SteamDeck, MESA on Snapdragon).
>>
>>737494398
winlator and forks all use proton/dxvk which is from valve/steamdeck.
>>
>>737494382
I don't need FSR4 and av1 only comes in handy if you use your device mainly for streaming
>>737494490
Disingenuous
Winlator.dev/games-list
>>
>>737494354
system latency is a system issue aka user error.
>>
>>737494578
Notice how every game on there is DX11 or older because thats what DXVK is designed for.

have you tried using the steam built in "play in mobile"?

The steam deck has always been a useless gimmick
>too big and expensive for a streaming device
>too weak to run any games on it's own
There's no reason to ever use a steam deck instead of a phone or a cheap chinkheld that will be running the same indies and retro games people play on the deck
>>
>>737494187
And play with a worse, smaller screen and have to carry around something way heavier in exchange for having no advantage
>>737494354
If you're streaming in your own home it isn't worse than a Wii U gamepad
>>
>>737495159
Indie games I guess
>>
>>737494881
OP here, it is in fact bigger than it would be in horizontal mode, I've used both
That said I hope Google makes a wide folding phone at some point
>>
>>737495159
>There's no reason to ever use a steam deck instead of a phone
Brownest shill yet
>>
>>737495648
you're the one shilling useless garbage when everyone already owns a better alternative
>>
>>737496808
You're a third world nigger that plays on his phone, your opinion does not matter
>>
>>737497016
Explain to me how Moonlight is any worse than playing on a Wii U gamepad
>>
>>737497291
Continue playing on your tiny screen, it works well for you obivously
>>
>>737492186
Moonlight still has too much lag.
Even over an ethernet connection between computers I can feel it being slugish.
Not even playing games, I used it to remote into another PC to use blender.
>>
>>737497404
Do you think I'm going to lug my 65" OLED into my bedroom to play before going to sleep
>>

until games start automatically detecting you're streaming to a portable device and letting you use a separate config for it (like hud scaling for example), streaming will always be a mild pain in the ass
>>
>>737492186
streaming has never once worked for me
