Halo is dead. Infinite was a complete flop.5 is forgotten and was never that popular in the first place. 4 basically killed the franchise. 343 is a joke, they destroyed Halo's lore and world building with dogshit garbage new forerunner canon. They squandered everything interesting about Halo as a universe. I might play the Halo 1 remake, but that's all I'm interested in as far as this franchise goes and I'm sure they will rape it somehow.

The actual game itself was pretty bad too, the prometheans as enemies were unbalanced and unfun to play against especially on legendary and the campaign in general despite showing some interest and promise at the start quickly went to shit. The multiplayer wasn't god awful though, it still felt like Halo 3 / Reach but with worse weapons and maps.
