Been on a bit of a pokemon binge lately and I need to rant about how bad unova is.Unova is fucking awful, its fucking so so so unbearably terrible and not for the reason people say. I dont care if theres a pokemon based on an ice cream cone, that makes no difference to me, there have always been bad designs, in fact, I actually like a lot of the pokemon selection in unova, thats not the problem. The problem is AT LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE POINT OF PROGRESS SOME FAGGOT HUMAN CHARACTER SHOWS UP TO YAP AT ME FOR AN HOUR! The gen 5 games feel so much longer than they really are, I dont think theres a single town in all of unova where you just enter the town, fight the gym leader and then go to the next route without any extra bullshit cutscenes. Every single section in the whole game is interrupted by some asshole that has to shove dialoge down my throat, and its never efficient, characters just talk and talk and talk and talk and dont fucking stop. Picrel literally had me stomping on the ground like a child and yelling "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP LET ME FUCKING PLAY THE GAME SHUT UP!" and thats really not characteristic of me, I havent raged at games in years but this dumb waffling cunt just brought out the worst in me. Playing this immediately after platnum really put it in perspective, what were they thinking? Its fucking awful, unova is awful awful awful. Also the map is a fucking circle because fuck making an interesting game world I guess.
It only gets worse from thereBy the time you get to Gen 7 you can't walk more than 5 steps without an NPC turning up to talk at you for half an hour

>>737506514evil organizations take a backseat in most of the games. in BW, the story is much more involved, so they are in your face from the very first town you reach to endgame. that's the unfortunate tradeoff with a story-driven game. like the other anon said, gen 7 is simply awful; it's nothing but cutscenes, dialogues, a 4-hour tutorial, more cutscenes, more dialogue, 5 seconds of gameplay before another interruption of cutscenes/dialogue.

i stopped pokemon at gen 4 and even then i remember raising an eyebrow at the conga line of NPCs that usually stop you at a new townit wasn't super annoying or anything yet, but i could tell where the series was heading from there
