I have never played a single game from any of the following series and I only want to play one or two games from each series (no more). Which games from each series does /v/ recommend? Ideally I want to play the first game in the series and then maybe the objectively best sequel, but if the first game is absolute garbage then I'll play another one.>Metal Gear>Final Fantasy>Assassin's Creed>God of War>Baldur's Gate>Tomb Raider>Far Cry>Final Fantasy>Dark/Demon Souls>The Witcher
>>737506823FC 2 and 3.
>>737506823Final fantasy is listed twice for some reason.I'd recommend Dark/Demon souls. Dark souls or Elden ring is a good place to start.I haven't really played games in any other of those franchises besides the first AssCreed, so go with that one maybe?
>Final Fantasy6. Although 1 does have a bit of charm in how simple everything is.
>>737506823>Metal GearTry Metal Gear Solid on PS1 or pirate the steam 'rerelease' or whatever it is - it's just the emulator plus rom. If you can tolerate the movie gameplay (ie by the time you get to the prisoner like 2 hours in), just play MGS2/3/4 if you can emulate 4(or wait till it's out on PC properly) Five is hit or miss.>Final FantastyV/IX>AssCreedII and if you like it keep going with Exio's stories>GoWPS2 first game. Then the third game.>BGJust get BGEE and if you like it get BG2EE. If you dislike how slow it is, just try BG3 - it's jnot the same style of gameplay and is utter slop but some like it (yes, ir's unfinished, no, it won't be out of beta, yes, it's sold as complete, yes, it's a scam, no, don't buy it, yes pirate it)Tomb Raider. The remasters I guess - try to stick with the tank controls if possible. Also if you have a keyboard it can be played better on that than pad for some (but remastered controls is okay too)>Final FantasyYou have this twice so play VI and then XDark/Demon SoulsJust get Dark Souls 1 and enjoy it on PC with the dsfix mod or the remastered one
>>737506823Metal Gear Solid + 2 on PS1 and PS2 emulatorFinal Fantasy crystal chronicles on gba or ps1Final Fantasy 5 on DSAssassin's Creed 1 on PS3God of War 1 & 2 on PS2Baldur's gate 2 (the first 2 hours are the only good part)Far Cry 2 and 3Dark Souls 1 & 2Don't play the witcher.
>>737507135>Just get BGEE and if you like it get BG2EE. If you dislike how slow it is, just try BG3This. I got into the BG series with BGEE and it was comfy. I actually liked BG1 more than BG2 because it felt more "open" while adventuring, even though gameplay-wise BG2 is better.>GoW>PS2 first game. Then the third game. This too.
>>737507313>Final Fantasy 5 on DSPuh? You mean 3 or 4?
For Final Fantasy, you'll want to play 1-10 without a doubt. For 1 and 2, the GBA or PSP versions are best.3 and 4, you want the DS.5 and 6 aren't too different between GBA and SNES, but the GBA version of 5 has a bonus dungeon and classes. Not sure about 6.7 and 8 are about the same across platforms, might as well play PC.Not sure about 9 or 10.Everything past that is iffy or an MMO.
>>737506823>Metal GearMGS + MGS2>Final Fantasy1 + 3>Assassin's CreedAC2 + whatever you want (except AC3)>Tomb Raider1 + 2>God of War1 + 2Don't play any of the other series, they're unironically shit-tier.
>>737507462I must mean 3 cause I'm talking about the game with the job system.
>>737507867Yeah, thats 3. DS never got a version of 5, sadly.
>>737507675>3 and 4, you want the DS.nice bait
>>737507917The ones with job systems really tickled my autism when I first discovered them just by playing. I believe there was also some type of xp system for weapons in the GBA remake of 2?
>>7375081282 is just weird in general. Its not based on levels, stats only go up when you use them. Get hit? More HP. Attack a ton of enemies? ATK goes up. Cast a shitload of spells? MP goes up.
>>737508229Ah yes. It just feels right imo. Kinda wish Saga got more popular instead of every game turning into a variation of leveling a main level and stats from 1-99 every game.
>>737506823MGS3 because it's probably the best one and is a prequel so it doesn't rely on shit that happened in a game set before it.FF10 probably. Anything 1 to 10 is fine, just depending on what looks good.Ass Creed 2 probably. 3 was when the series started to fall apart and games after that could only hope to be okay.Baldur's Gate 2. That's the best one and 3 is so bad it's not worth playing at all.Tomb Raider Anniversary. This is another hard choice like Final Fantasy because plenty of them are good for different reasons. This one gets across what a Tomb Raider game usually is and it's fun to play.Far Cry 1. Eventually they pivoted to pumping out barely distinguishable sequels. 1 is where it seems like they tried to make the best FPS they could.skippedDemon's Souls is the most fun. I'd play that and if you're in love with it, go to Dark Souls. That applies to a lot of series on that list. Just don't start with DS2 'cause it sucks or DS3 because it feels like a bad knock off of 1.The Witcher 3. They genuinely did get better at making games over time. The first feels like they made an exact copy of Runescape and then tried to make it more fun. 3 is the first time you can just have fun playing it without having to make excuses for it.
>every single reply is an obvious unc30+ bread?
>>737506823>Metal Gear1 and 2>Final FantasyTactics and 7>God of War1 and 2>Baldur's Gate1 and 2>Tomb RaiderAnniversary and Legend>Far Cry1 and 2>Dark/Demon SoulsDemon Souls and Dark Souls>The Wither1 and 3
>>737508757>30+ bread?Yes
>>737506823>Metal GearMGS1 and 5>Final FantasyFF1 and 10. I advise going with the original versions of both, though the PS1 version of FF1 is a decent alternative if you want better visuals and QoL enhancements. Most of the other versions of FF1 streamline it to such an extent and remove so much of the difficulty that it loses its appeal.>God of WarGoW1>Baldur's GateBG1 and 2>Tomb RaiderTR1
>>737506823>Metal GearMetal Gear Solid, 1998, is the best starting point. It's essentially the cornerstone and the beginning of the saga, and an excellent, self-contained story. If you like it, there's a lot more to experience. If not, you got to sample the best the series has to offer.Either way, you should play them in the release order. Like I implied, it's a linear saga, one big story. Always read the games' manuals first, check the "Briefing Files", and try some VR Training before jumping into the campaign.>Final FantasyArguably the FF7 OG, 1997.It was a huge phenomena at the time, and still kinda works as the poster girl for the franchise. Great, moody world, memorable OST and characters, and gameplay that's easy enough for a total newb to get int, but with enough variety and optional content to keep vets occupied.>Assassin's CreedThey all suck ass. Not joking.I was here since the very beginning.>God of WarThe PS2 original GoW1 and 2.Everything after 3 is TLOU-tier slop.>Baldur's Gate1 or 2. But you really must love D&D to get it.>Tomb RaiderThe PS1 original. The first two sequels are alright. The reboot sucks.>Far CryThe 2004 PC original. The sequels are console Ubislop.>Final FantasyAlready answered that.FF6 and 10 are also good stuff.9 is my favorite.>Dark/Demon SoulsThe original PS3 Demon's Souls. No handholding, great world and encounter craft.>The WitcherThe original 2007 game's Enhanced Edition. The sequels are Ubishit-styled console sloppa with Barbie-doll humping scenes and next to no role-playing aspects.
