Playing on emulator where you can save state and speed up through battles really helps but god damn its a slog getting through so many battles. Maybe im just old and have less time for games but I hated that pretty much 95% of the overworld had battles every 20 seconds, even where you had to backtrack. Everything else about the game is 10/10 though

I hate almost every Megaten game from the mid-late 90s that I've played. Devil Summoner, Soul Hackers, Persona 1 and 2. Not fun to play, none.
I think Metaphor adding a retry button in battle was a good thing. It helps in the early game where you can get fucked over because of an unlucky miss or crit.
