I’m pissed off that the hidden blade has been relegated to a single button animation. No longer is it used as a weapon in combat. In fact Altair perfected the hidden blade combat, so it makes no sense why they wouldn’t add it as a feature in Resynced. It’s been a fucking feature for the first six mainline AC games.

I can’t believe this immersive detail is overlooked by the modern devs, only serves to show they worked on this “project” to showcase it to their LinkedIn.

Then again, Edward is just a pirate not an assassin, and has no assassin training.
>>
It kind of looked silly having the playable character swinging his wrist/palm at people.

Huge (or was) AC addict
Got bored half way through Valhalla and dropped the series. It isn't the same as it was. Lootsloppa.
Did AC Mirage not have it either???? I heard that game was a le heckin return to form.
>>
Unity did it best. Hidden blade combat is flashy but it invalidates picking any other weapon. Ezio walks around like a mall ninja advert but counter killing with the blade alway is the simplest, most easy option. The hidden blades supposed to be HIDDEN. Then the other weapons you choose for all out brawling are an actual choice

I never understood this one, he took the assassins clothes and gear then became the best assassin in the world
>>
>>737526678
They could have created unique Hidden Blade combat animations for Kenway. He’s a pirate, just create something akin to brutal brawling technique. Cheap kicks to the knee cap, Head-buts, just crazy tavern style fighting and Hidden Blade thrusts thrown in and it would have been perfect.

Instead, despite calling in every Ubisoft studio around the globe, they reused Valhalla parkour animations and Skull and Bones assets.

When you look past the “mirage” this game is a lazy copy paste Jeet coded slop of the year.
>>
You can tell by the fake enthusiasm of Matt Ryan (Edward Kenway’s Voice Actor) that he’s hiding his disgust for the developers and Ubisoft in the interviews.

Seriously, go take another look at it. He probably sees Assassin’s Creed as some sort of Fast and Furious tier franchise equivalent for the gaming world.

You’re telling me instead of choosing the game that started it all, they went for the quick cash grab because they wanted to imitate Black Flags success with Skull and Bones?

Disgusting…

It hasn't been a feature since Unity. You haven't even been able to Wolverine claw it since then. There have been more games without the ability to Wolverine it or use it combat than those that have had it. They also established that outside of the Hidden Blades Altair made they're all fairly fragile because only his group's were made of Adamant. The Japanese Brotherhood introduced the dagger-esque usable ones in combat which the American Brotherhood adopted, but Edward doesn't use those, he uses a normal one. Ezio had one of the Adamant ones I think.

This is valuable information. Just quick thinking, this reminds me of the Disney Star Wars scenario where they just rewrite the lore to fit their insanely lazy and uncreative gameplay/story telling.

It’s like yeah we didn’t animate the hidden blade flicking animation or create multiple assassination animations because the hidden blade is actually quite fragile… right…
>>
>>737528871
This was already established back between Brotherhood and 3 I just forget which one did it specifically. You learn about the Adamant stuff with the Hidden Blades because Altair did it. Maybe it was Rev? Maybe Leonardo said it? But that's a reason why they can handwave it now.

He learned on the fly and was already good enough to kill a real assassin at the beginning. He has eagle vision so he's not normal.

It was the second game when Ezio visits Leonardo, I abruptly remembered because I replayed it a while ago.

Also I think it’s funny you mention that because the Assassin that Kenway killed (Walpole), according to a quick google search he’s cousins of Britains first Prime Minister, and he was going to sell out valuable information to the Templars.

This guy had his own fleet (remember the first mission of AC Black Flag?) and he couldn’t afford the “fancy” hidden blade that Leonardo built for Ezio several hundred years ago in his basement?
>>
>>737526572
AC died with 3 anon... you could argue it died with 2.

Adamant is Isu metal that only existed in their time period and was harvested by enslaved humans. We even see an altered version of the practice in Odyssey's Fate of Atlantis DLC. Altair could only do it because he had the Apple and knew of how to do it because of said Apple with the implication being he broke down PoEs the apple showed him to do so. Walpole would have had to find some sort of stash of the stuff and an Apple to be able to forge it.

I'm also surprised there are no RPG mechanics from what they've shown because the original leak got so much of the actual content here correct. They probably walked that back early on. At least the tools seem way better to use because they repurposed the ability system to facilitate it so the Rope Dart actually looks fun now. It does look way too much like Mirage's parry-focused combat though so I hope normal attacks won't be completely worthless like in Mirage.

If it wasn’t for Assassin’s Creed 3 pushing the limits of the 360/PS3 generation we would have never had Assassin’s Creed 4 and it’s massive success. I personally believe the Kenway Trilogy is far better than the Ezio snoozefest. The Ezio trilogy is like a middle aged guy’s mid life crisis fictional biopic.

Also I remember the only complaints for 3 was the downgraded mission when you’re running through soldiers in the midst of battle that appeared in the trailer.

Now somehow it’s touted on /v/ as the game that killed the franchise? Give me a break.
>>
>>737529614
The combat animations alone are so over-exaggerated you would be lead to believe they hired a Bollywood actor for the animations. The Brits in the trailer don’t duel in a refined and calculated manner (as they did in the OG). It’s so fucking garbage that the entire trailer just hyper focuses on the graphical updates with a few gimmicks like a pet added to the ship.

The future of gaming is just a competition to see who can create the first forever game. They want you to live your entire life inside the fucking game lol. Harkening back to GTA Online it’s what they tried to do and almost achieved at launch.
I remember when it first launched it was prosocial, easy to befriend and cooperate with other players, etc
Now it’s anti social third worlders flying around in an oppressor griefing everyone with an inner monologue.

Anyways, the gist of it is that all these companies (including META with their VR bullshit) is they NEED a forever game. Their corporate greed won’t cease until every loser is doped up with energy slop in their veins and a screen attached to their face, spending every single monetary value they can scrounge to keep their millennial daughters and H1B pets employed.

3 was always hated here. I've been here since way before the AC1 launch and the AC1 launch threads were why I even bought the first game. I was here for the launch of basically every game (Though I tuned out with Syndicate outside of launch threads) and can back that statement up. Feel free to convert this Unix timestamp if you want as I saved it from threads when 3 was announced here.
>Also I remember the only complaints for 3 was the downgraded mission when you’re running through soldiers in the midst of battle that appeared in the trailer.
People vehemently despised that High Profile actions like tackling and gentle pushing were automated instead of manual feeling like it casualized movement as now you didn't have to worry about running through crowds anymore.
People hated that climbing became significantly faster and more casualized as it meant you had to think less about handholds and could just effortlessly move around anything with people fairly regularly arguing that the Hook Blade was a bad addition to the series or at least what led to this happening.
People hated having to play as Connor and being forced into a second tutorial for over an hour to learn how to skin animals, tree traversal, and the bow when Haytham left such a strong impression.
People despised Connor, absolutely hated him. I can't think of a single time people spoke positively about him until the Foraken novel had its epilogue letter read by Connor's VA that people started to warm up to him as a character.
CHARLES LEE was such a meme here that every thread had people spamming it and to this day still has people memeing about it.
I don't remember people talking about ship combat outside of saying they hated the 100% syncs.
People constantly complained about the Charles Lee 100% sync requirement.
People despised the Illuminati fast travel tunnels.
People nonstop complained about how buggy it was.

I concede. From an early zoomer this game encapsulated everything I loved and was lead to believe America was, is and should be.

That game for me was the American Dream, now seeing the state that Ubisoft is in, that dream is dead.

In an alternate future we would have all poured in our fervent attention to detail into future installments of the AC Franchise.

Now every single time Ubisoft announces a new game I’m constantly berated by the ungodly sight of someone who doesn’t belong there working and further destroying the achievements of greater Men than them.

fuck ubisoft

>>737530569
The only things I liked about AC3 was how absolutely brutal the combat takedowns became and Haytham. Everything else about it was ass. Rogue is still my favorite story in any AC game
>>
>>737526786
Mirage is even worse because they discourage combat
>>
>>737528506
And also Unity they explained that the French Brotherhood is a bunch of old school idiots which is why there's only one hidden blade.
>>
>>737533379
Yeah it’s essentially a capeshit game, but they should name the new witch AC game: Dead Souls that was aborted by the Witch that directed these shitty games.
>>
>>737533379
You can do combat in Mirage just fine it's just that it's forced parrying as normal attacking is either constantly deflected or you deal like no damage. The only difficult enemies are the Odyssey dual wielding moveset guys that come at wanted level 3.
