We also did this in DT in a setting that was free from all danger and it was boring as sin, and no while the writing was bad it was still the premise for the story that was the culprit. There is no meaningful reason, no defining objective, no wind that is pushing me or anyone else to need to explore Garlemald post-Endwalker.I don't hate Garlean lore, I just understand that it was passed up.
Obviously the next big multi-expansion story will be about finding a way to safely merge all the shards back to normal. And then in 10.0 it'll either put the game in maintenance mode or completely remake the world with all the previous shard locations on the source now, with the First ones combined into the ARR zones.
