WHERE THE FUCK IS IT?
>>
>those display specs
Ewwww ew ew ew ewwwwww
>>
>>737526920
Soon. I believe.
>>
>>737526963
Soon isn't enough. I want it now.
>>
>>737526936
It's better than my Index.
>>
>>737527106
I was expecting to be able to play ITR2 on launch with this thing.
>>
>>737526920
immediately buying the Frame, will toss it on a pay in 4 if I have to.
Controller depends entirely on price.

>>737526920
I've been wanting to replay Alyx since 2020.
I had a Quest but META cancer is so fucking shit, I'd rather wait.
Hopefully it's not more than 1k$
>>
>>737526920
They should just cancel it, its going to be too expensive and once it flops the entire VR scene is going to die.
>>
>>737529832
VR for modders and enthusiasts isn't going to die. Mass market VR died with Meta's attention span.
>>
>>737530946
If the Frame were made for enthusiasts, they should've gone for specs that are more than just a Meta Quest 3.1 with worse passthrough

Hi zuck.
>>
>coming early 2026
>we're almost halfway through 2026
it's fucking over
>>
>>737526920
Facebook killed VR. We had our chance, but Zuck took over the VR train with his infinite money and bad ideas. He poisoned the well. Maybe in 20 years we'll get another shot at it. This time around was a failure.
>>
>>737531313
But that's what the Steam VR is for, an uncucked VR device.
>>
>>737526920
What are some VR QoL features/mechanics that are standard now?
Been a minute since I played a VR title, because I was waiting for this thing to release, do we have anything better than boneworks/Alyx now?
>>
>>737531138
>doesn't require a Facebook account anymore
>incredibly easy to pirate and they haven't banned an account ever for it
>wired and wireless pc pass through
>cheap thanks to fb shouldering half the price so they can corner a market of people that don't actually buy games
Yup, it's based
>>
>>737531345
It's too late now, everyone already gave up on it. There was a time when everyone was excited for VR. Gamers, journalists, developers, investors, everyone wanted in, but Zuck stonewalled them all. Now it's too late.
>>
>>737531313
They poured billions and billions to advance the hardware and keep the concept alive tremendously longer than it should've lived. If Oculus hadn't been bought out nobody would've cared about it after a couple of years.
>>
>>737531606
You don't advance anything by preventing competition. Facebook money was spent hiring and buying up all the competition. They even bought out supply chains they didn't need just to stop anyone else entering the VR market. They bought games just to downgrade them for the Quest and then shut them down. We should be in a VR golden age, but Zuck forced everyone else out and left us with his shitty metaverse
>>
>>737531313
What facebook killed was the possibility turning VR into a shitty crypto metaverse dystopia where you pay money to attend a VR casino while you do a business meeting with your coworkers.

VR will remain a niche until it's extremely lightweight, wireless, has inside-out tracking including hands and body, 180 fov, decent res, and cheap on top of all of that. And THEN you need some major devs to bite the bullet and make some games for the non-existent VR audience to grow it. It'll be a bit still but hopefully it'll happen one day.

VR is great, i don't even use my regular monitor anymore and probably never will again
>>
People keep posting this shit but she's still not dead
>>
i dont care about VR I just want to buy the controller that doesn't suck and should be well supported and just werk on the platform I spend most of my time gaming on.
>>
don't blame zuck for the state of vr, blame john carmack for selling you out to him.
>>
>>737531495
>Still requires a Meta account
>Still requires ID verification to enable sideloading
>Still runs poodroid with a locked bootloader instead of Linux
>Wired passthrough is still just compressed USB streaming
I have one sitting on my desk and I will still say that it is shit.
>>737531606
The concept was alive since the 60s, it wasn't going to spontaneously die. The only thing Facebook did was normalize some of worst practices plaguing it, like appstores and other phone-oriented design, just like how Microsoft normalized Xinput. They introduced a lot of shit that people think of as standard, but which needs to be stripped out for the medium to succeed.
>>737531752
Facebook killed VR desktop development by not delivering the Linux support that was promised in the Kickstarter and they took Microsoft money to use it to push Wangblows 10 instead.
