What does /v/ think of the Ori games? I just finished Will of the Wisps and was pleasantly surprised at solid they were as platformers. Also gotta say that Ori turning into a tree and turning out to be the narrator was a legit surprising twist to me
>>
first game in history made specifically for tumblr users. 2/10, both of them
>>
>>737527542
They're fun. Pretty simple and enjoyable games. Soundtrack was also very good imo.
>>
>>737527542
I liked them more than hollow knight
Combat in 2 is really good
>>
>>737527542
They think it's trash worth nothing more than other trash indie pixel shit made for gay peoples like them.
>>
>>737527839
Same. Hollow Knight can be exhausting. I'm getting too old for that shit.
>>
>>737527542
played both and both were a solid 7.5/10
fun, but nothing special
>>
They're great, the second one especially. Few games feel this good to control and just move around in.
>>
>>737527542
I loved ori 1 and i was really excited waiting for 2 to come out, it ended up being even better than 1
Really great soundtrack and art, the gameplay in 1 was average while the 2nd one improved it to actually be fun.
Also FUCK that worm escape sequence with hard difficulty
>>
>>737527542
They're good. Gameplay is great. The stories insist upon themselves.
>>
>>737527542
I can't wait to see the platforming in the third game. As a tree.
>>
>>737527542
smooth animation, high quality art, best movement in any platformer or metroidvania ever.
Will of the wisps gameplay is peak.
story is kind of meh and contact damage sucks. that shouldn't have been in the game. it doesn't need it because it has an actual combat system with real attacks and hitboxes.
>>
>>737527542
I've always liked them. Good platforming and exploration, beautiful visuals and gigakino music.

Ori 1 is a masterpiece. Peak of the movement and sountrack and atmosphere.
Ori 2 is great but not as good, a lot more dilluted. Partly wasted potential, amazing combat is wasted with extremely lame weak enemies. They wanted so many more cool features, but many of them turned half assed, like the town progression. Backgrounds are way blurrier and less detailed even if superficially prettier. You can feel the corners of the game that are lackuster because of cut corner up the ass. On the flip side theres so many genuinely cool moves, its more ori, and the combat and juggling is amazing when its in one of the better moments. Excellent swimming too
Also the story in ori 2 sucks dick. Kino ending, everything else is Z tier

Genuinely one of my favorite franchises of all time, though mostly because of O1
>>
>>737527542
Damn it, I always get the names of the two confused (I only played the first) and unspoiled it thinking you were talking about Blind Forest. Good game, ending made me cry.
>>
>>737527705
>unc still trippin on tumblr in the big 2 6
>>
Just played through the first one and liked it a lot. I thought the upgrade tree was a little bit poorly designed - some powerups are much more impactful than others and, in particular, I didn't see much reason to invest farther than about halfway through the middle tree.
>>
>>737527542
Both games are solid 10/10s, but they really outdid themselves with the combat in WotW. They're really fun to look at graphically as well.
>>
>>737527542
Could be better.
>>
>>737527542
Good games. I like the first one better.
>>
>>737527542
I like this kind or plateforming a lot more than the precision plateforming
Also both games are really beautiful
>>
>>737535207
that anon is most definitely not an unc cause i am an unc and both me and all of the people my age loved the first game when it came out
>>
Horrible artstyle, same as their new IP, not sure why they like that palette of color

>that sidequest where you help the father find his family
it BROKE me :(
>>
>>737527542
Thoroughly enjoyed both of them, gameplay, visuals, and soundtrack. Though I think the first one was a bit stronger thematically. Felt more like you were going through a fairytale than playing a game. And there are probably very few things that could stand up to the escape from the ginso tree.
>>
>>737527542
Beautiful games with hands down the worse more pathetic fan base a game could ever get ever.
>>
>>737537713
>pathetic fan base
There's a ori fanbase?
I thought HK all the discussion surrounding it
>>
>>737538013
Yeah, saying Ori games have a fan base at all is a bit of a stretch.
It's basically just a living meme living alongside other indie shit and their gay fan bases and hollow knight is the cherry on top.
>>
>>737527542
Very beautiful and great games. 1 is a little short and the combat is kinda shit but Ori's movement has not been matched by any other metroidvania protagonist that I've played since. 2 is just an improvement all around and has a satisfying but bittersweet ending to the duology.
>>
>>737527542

I liked first one. 2nd one was kind of forgettable and I don't like the emphasis on combat over platforming.
>>
>>737538013
>>737538383
clearly you guys havent seen the legion of cringe furfags with ori OCs
>>
>>737541150
I've experienced everything since the release of the second game and got a pick from what there was before it.

90% if not everything about Ori games legacy is just an agglomeration of cringe, misinformation, image damage, and overall disingenuous disservice toward the game both from fans and non. Hollow knight and the release of it's sequel only worsened the situation to 200%.

I don't know about any of this cringe and i want to know more.
Both ori games are just neat games i played on my own.
>>
>>737541903
I cant believe orifag still browses this place. Unbelieavable autism.
>>
>>737543331
Too many things to say.
If you enjoyed the game I strongly suggest you to keep it for yourself, not engage in anything else potentially ruining the game for yourself if you will. Just move on.
>>
>>737527542
I gave the first one a chance and bounced off of it. The platforming was fine, I just prefer my Metroid-likes to be a bit heavier on the action side, and the "combat" in Ori felt pretty uninvolved.

Didn't care for combat. Ori 2's platforming reminded me of the platforming courses i used to draw as kid in class, row after row of levels with lava pits, hanging vines, spikes, spring boards. Then i drew a line jumping through all of the traps but sometimes the line would fall into the spikes. The fluidity of ori's platforming feels like drawing that line in my notebook.
>>
>>737527542
I bought this just to test my new HDR tv.
I only played the first one.
>>
>>737527542
>What does /v/ think of the Ori games?
one of the loveliest and most touching platformers
with such a well balanced atmosphere that I've ever played
call me fag but when I played them back then it even made me cry more than once
>>
>>737527542
I love them a lot. A shame there wn't be another because the studio head is a massive fucking assclown that abused his workers who actually made the game and is now busy trying to salvage his soulslop clone out of early access after all the talented people left.

There are millions reasons for why no new Ori games will be ever made but not a single one have anything to do with the devs and their workplace. And especially at this point everyone who still believe these falsehoods without realizing the truth are completely utter retards.
>all the talented people left.
All those talented people clearly didn't manage to make a videogame that stands out.
>>
>>737527542
The first one was really good, but the sequel felt completely unnecessary, I didn't enjoy it as much. Still, it was funny how the dev was completely mindbroken by HK.
>>
>>737527542
I couldn't finish it. It's garbage. Sure it's pretty, but that isn't enough to make a good game. Combat is hot steaming pile of garbage. Exploration is boring and unsatisfying. Movement is braindead, unsatisfying, and even janky.
You take away the art style, the game has nothing else going for it.
>>
Games suck. Ori turns into a tree. Ending is unhappy.
>>
>>737527542
>What does /v/ think of the Ori games?
Legit. They're good platform games with a good OST. I pirated both and have saved the install files so I can replay them in the future, I only do that to games I really like. The games do ramp-up pretty well with the player's skill to be able to respond quickly to environment with the right mobility upgrade. They're not Metroidvanias as some say, just have a tiny bit of backtracking if you want all upgrades.
>turning into a tree and turning out to be the narrator
Didn't remember that. Hehe. Makes sense.
