You can tell that she didn't want to be there, but she recognized that cooperating with the remaining law enforcement raises her chances of survival. The remakes shifted this dynamic by turning her cover into an FBI agent so she gets to act like she's of a higher authority than Leon, leading him around like he's some lost puppy. In the original, the kiss is a flattering moment because she never made a move on Leon and only decided to kiss him after she had already put herself in harm's way for him. In the remake, she kisses Leon to manipulate his feelings, essentially incentivizing him to do her work for her.It's why in the OG RE4 and in future appearances their relationship develops into a playful one, because they've already been through thick and thin during RE2 and saw the other when they were at their most vulnerable. RE2R flubbing Ada's character resulted in her character arc being delayed and stretched over to RE4R meaning her character arc could only be completed 6 years after she ditched Leon. Because of this, she ends up having to prove her worth to Leon because they still haven't patched things up where they last left off in RE2R.Honestly, while her in-game model is smoking hot, the remakes did more damage to her rep because now you see a lot of people not getting why Leon and Ada were pushed so hard in the first place. In the original, their playful dynamic is a mutual one and it's the result of them spilling their spaghetti in RE2. In the remakes, the dynamic is skewed in such a way that Ada never really earns that trust between them, so it ends up feeling forced when the story pretends as if they were an item.
jill used to be really hot and cool but for some reason they made her look like a racially ambiguous greasy lesbian in the remake.
