>He's literally trying to stop every and new live service games
There should always be an offline game there. In my opinion the ones that are primarily singleplayer because it's just unacceptable for that to ever go offline. But even in the case of multiplayer we need to go back to the same old server browser system seen in Valves games for example. Nobody even wanted these shitty new systems. In a lot of cases they were made for closed off trash consoles to limit what you were allowed to do with them.

Games are sold as products because they are products.
Then game studios sell games as services despite still being products (this is generally what we refer to as 'fraud' in the civilized world)
Some nobody points out how this is obviously not acceptable
Time passes
Now the EU is involved in regulating game studios, which could've been avoided if they merely didn't sell goods as services and fraud hundreds of millions of people.

The EU may have been created by socialists and by some actual pro soviet communist individuals but i don't think many people are complaining about this one specific field because otherwise there was no other angle to pursue in forcing a European company like Ubisoft to ship an offline and comply.
In the grand scheme of things to care about what the European Union overreaches and over regulates on many matters simply no one cares when its about video games in this scenario.
Why would anyone? you've gotta be working for a company yourself to find it all so bothersome.

There's a reason there's expiration dates on food packaging and the fact that you are told its purchasing a license (revoke-able) and not a purchase of a product (something you own permanently without caveats.) You will own nothing and be happy is WEF mind-set therefore more communist than private-ownership promoting SKG initiative. You fuckers lost: ROPE AND SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE MOUTH!

>>
>>737533110
The core argument against it is that it will be a huge blow to live service developers, which is most likely going to be bad if you like live service games. They will probably have lower budgets because they'd be making less money because people would just wait it out until they go EOS to play the offline version.

>>
>>737535531
I don't quite buy that argument, waiting for EOS sounds like a non issue if it happens in 10+ years.
>>
>>737535531
I play Genshin and I've spent probably a bit over $100 on it.
I obviously wouldn't have spent anything on it if I knew I could just unlock everything for free later on.

Now, most people aren't like me and they would probably still throw money at their gachas. but there are people like me out there and it would affect their bottom line. Especially since live service games are in competition with each other.

Adding in another factor that keeps players away from the games(waiting until they EOS to do everything as if it were a normal game), would just decimate some live service games completely. like those random games someone picks up to check out then get hooked, some of these people won't even bother picking the games up to do dailies for years when they could just wait for the single player experience that would come out eventually.
>>
>>737535650
that's what I'm saying, if people want to play a live service game they're not going to wait until EOS, they're going to want to play it when there's tons of people playing said game. If the game is really popular then who tf is gonna wait for a hypothetical future point in time, when there's nobody left playing it, to jump on board? The live service player brain doesn't work like that, least of all the ones that actually spend money on that crap.
>>
>>737535770
>if people want to play a live service game they're not going to wait until EOS,
Some will, in fact I would say most will for certain games because playing live service games is a huge time investment, you can't really play them all.
>>
>>737535818
But if there's no more development going on, no more content being released, then who's gonna pick up a live service game from ten years ago for free, rather than a current, popular one, that they can play with a bunch of other people?

A large number of gacha games have systems that let you unlock absolutely everything worth utilizing just by playing more, but you can speed up the process by paying money. There are situations where the devs use tools they don't own the license to which would make it illegal for them to distribute.
However the obvious solution to this is making sure you're using tools with a more lenient license from the ground up.
Pic related was an excuse from a dev about why they couldn't do official mod support. They teased modding for years only to tell people at 1.0 it was impossible.

Why do people keep lumping in gacha games like SKG applies to them? The games are typically free and you have the option to willingly pay for extra skins/items/gambling currency if you have no self-control. At best wouldn't they just have to make an offline viewer or something for the stuff you paid for (wouldn't even be required to include your favorite characters/stuff you got for free) rather than develop a full offline version of a game you never even paid for? I would love it if this did lead to real offline versions of some gacha games being made, but I don't see it happening.

>but there are people like me out there and it would affect their bottom line
No it wouldn't, live service games don't get by by a random user deciding to spend $5 on the anniversary, they get on whales deciding to spend $5000 every month

Because they ARE live service and apparently Japs consider killing their products to be a good thing.

>I would love it if this did lead to real offline versions of some gacha games being made, but I don't see it happening.
they had been doing this for quite some time now and it's slowly becoming an industry standard, for "reputable" companies at least.

>bend the knee
That's a hell of a framing to put "reluctantly letting customers play what they purchased" into

Amerifats defend "corpo rights" because they have been so brainwashed by the idea of the "american dream" (never existed unless you were born in the right tribe) that they believe they are just a day away from becoming the next billionaire, so they have to go against anything that could potentially make it hard for them to be the one fucking the poorfags over for a profit in the future

There's nothing political about not wanting videogames to be unavailable to be played ever again and become lost media at the whim of some random corporate suits

I might be willing to make a 1 time purchase to have free reign of a gacha and all its events. X-Dive Offline is a bit surreal.

I also think they are trying anything to improve their general image among gamers.

I can confirm this, I met a Japanese girl working in my country that I regularly talked with to practice my beginner level japanese and she said she is way more free here than in Japan.

Ubisoft ripping people off is literally what kicked off this whole movement, dipshit. How could they possibly be truly "on board" with a movement that started to combat their greed and negligence?

>Now the EU is involved in regulating game studios
Even though game companies are being made to provide offline support for games, this can obviosly still become a huge problem.
Game communities have been able to provide offline support in the end, anyway. ElDewrito is an example.
