>Great games with horribly designed final bosses that leave a bad taste in your mouth, ruining your ideal first run experience I'll start, Balders Gate 1.
>>737534619You can't make a fighter boss interesting in AD&D so they were fucked from the get-go.
>>737534619wayfinderdecent grindslop game with some of the worst boss fights ever
Were you trying to maintain the illusion that this franchise hadn't jumped the shark yet? Let me shatter that for you.
>>737534619Played through BG1 recently for the first time.Is it the expected experience that most major fights feel like clusterfucks that you have to wipe to a few times before figuring out how to cheese? I know I can partially attribute this to having a party of three fighters and only one mage, but encounters like the group at the top of the Iron Throne at the end of chapter 5 or the doppelgangers at Sarevok's coronoation felt so far beyond my ability to fight "fairly" that I felt like I was fundamentally playing the game wrong somehow.Thankfully the game is generous and gives you a bunch of tools to play around with, so I was never stuck for that long on anything. Ended up killing Sarevok with boots of speed+throwing axe, just kiting his melee ass around and only throwing from a safe distance.
>>737536508Yeah don't worry about it too much. AD&D is remembered fondly because it had great fluff, it's mechanics are retarded and BG1 did nothing to attempt to fix them.
