What are your expectations for the Gabecube?
The Steam Machine looks to be less powerful than PS5/Xbox SeX and will be more expensive so its a hard sell for me personally.
>>
it's basically a pc that runs games worse than windows

It has been fucked by the ram market. A laptop with a x7 368h look more interesting.
>>
>>737554036
A good mid PC for slightly less of what you'd pay. That's the only way it sells.

My gaming PC evolved into an AI/work PC so I'd like to have something to play games on.

However, the decision to - once again - use a GPU architecture that AMD considers a transphobic conspiracy theory they had nothing to do with, means it's obsolete on day one.

>Basically every game worth playing you can play on a Steam Deck
>The Gabecube is more powerful than a Steam Deck
Not really an expectation on itself, but, there's a non-zero chance I can really spend how much they're gonna ask for it when it comes out and I'd imagine scalpers are gonna jump on this shit like rats on a cheese wheel even though at the end of the day it's still technically just a computer and I can dualboot steam OS on my desktop.
>>
I was interested when it was first announced. Then I just built a new PC and put my old one in living room, cancelled all my subscriptions, and use it as a gaming and media server streaming center.

I think the only appeal it would have at it's current price is for consolefags too scared to build a PC and too poor for a prebuilt.

I mean me personally I think it looks neat and it'd be nice to have something smaller in the living room.
Plus it'd be convenient for taking to LAN games instead of my whole ass desktop
>>
i have zero interest in it because i love building my pcs but i hope it succeeds
hope it becomes a mainstay for console refugees and casuals and it becomes a baseline for games to target
also it's going to give OEMs an operating system they can trust and put on their products to increase linux adoption
>>

*better than windows in most cases.
>>
I DON'T CARE! GIVE ME THE CONTROLLER!
>>
>>737558334
doesn't even run the game in most cases
>>
>>737560406
Unless specifically you nigh only play multiplayer slop that specifically is designed to detect and crash if you're playing on linux that's not remotely true.
>>
>>737560406
it does
just don't play garbage designed to suck your life away and enrage you
those games inject spyware into your system and you're so colorblind that you can't spot the aposematism
>>
>>737554036
its a overpriced steam deck pro for people who dont want a portablke
>>
>>737554036
>weaker base PS5
>more expensive than base PS5
>low RAM
>shit wifi like PS4
>immediately obsolete as next gen is releasing next year
Everyone who buys this deserves to get burned by next gen specs creep
>>
>>737562831
>specs creep
my guy, the ps6 won't be a target platform until 2030 and the push for arm compatibility from valve will mean steam games will start targeting phone tier specs
>>
>>737554036
Better than my laptop, so it's an upgrade for my poverty-stricken ass. I haven't upgraded any of my tech since 2020, I feel like a Victorian on kerosene lamps discovering LEDs.

>He does not understand basic marketing
Look at who shows enthusiasm, look at who doesn't.
Look at who is dressed like a literal sofa, look who is dressed like the brightest thing in the foreground.
Look at the person whose hair has literally been styled so that you focus on the other person.
All the new Steamslop marketing plays heavily into this boilerplate subliminal social advertising message of bullshit your pattern recognizing ape brain picks up on, because it's a bunch of animated videos that you get brief impressions off of while doomscrolling the specs pages waiting for the controller to release.
