Korean + Spanish are your go tos. You can learn the gook language easily within a month for reading start (unlike 5 years in Japanese haha...) Spanish is simple you just need to learn the dictionary as a lot of words sound as they should work within English/Latin origin understanding.

I'd say whichever language you're passionate for the most.
All languages are "easy" until you hit a difficulty wall: For spanish it's verbs, for japanese it's kanji, etc.
>>

As a frog I'm tempted to say french because 90% of the vocabulary is the same, but french grammar is very byzantine and french just isn't a very useful language, unless you for some reason decide to go to Africa.

Video game localizers are low-tier human beings. If you had any skill in this field, you wouldn’t translate games or anime—you’d be paid in gold translating pharmaceuticals, machinery, or legal documents. That’s why only nutjobs take these jobs: they’re low-paying, and only the worst in the field apply for them. They have neither a sense of commitment, discipline, nor professionalism.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, NOT BECAUSE OF THE TRANSLATION BUT BECAUSE YOU WILL GIVE MONEY TO WSS PLAYGROUND AND THEY'RE EVIL
>the main people behind needy girl overdose are nyalra and his small team, wss just publishes it
>the ceo of wss, daichi saito, is the producer of ngo
>the game is successful and sells millions of copies
>since its their most successful published game by far, saito sees this as an opportunity to make easy money and starts mistreating nyalra and the others
>nyalra claims saito abused the ngo team and hasn't compensated them
>saito basically takes over the ngo ip and starts whoring it out for collabs and merch without the consent of any of the devs, who see none of the money from that stuff
>saito starts avoiding japanese media outlets so he wont say anything he can be held accountable for since overseas fans wont know or care
>nyalra and saito are now engaged in legal shit because saito wont stop being an asshole
This is all from nyalra's twitter. And by supporting this game which wss helped develop, anything else they worked on or published, or anything new done with the ngo ip, you are giving money to saito. Do not buy yunyun syndrome, support nyalra and his new company haze denki instead. If you want to play yunyun then stick to piracy!

The reason Japanese is easy is because it has grammatical rules that make sense and are easy to remember. Not similarity. The awful part is the runes, those are very hard to remember.
>>
>>737561829
>is mad after receiving recommendations.
You are hopeless. The grammar is simpler and more structured than Japanese and doesn't allow as much fuckery. Consider hangul being simpler and there being a lot more reasons to learn Korean as there's actively more content being put out in Korean as well so you can immerse yourself in that a lot easier as well by playing a game you already have played through to learn Korean for example. (Hence easier.) With Spanish it depends.
>>
>>737561720
>All languages are "easy" until you hit a difficulty wall
I'll say the opposite.
All languages are "hard" until you surmount the initial walls. For Japanese this is literally all the parts of it since you're forced to learn how to read a ton of Kanji and learn how to parse it all properly, as well as dealing with vocabulary that, aside from 和製英語 and the multitude of other loan words, will be wholly new with no reference to anything you'd be familiar with. You are starting from zero, which inflates the time before you can start making real gains through immersion ("just watching" or "just reading" as some like to describe the lazy, thoughtless immersion process.)
Now consider Spanish, a language that an American already has a lot of freebies in since it's impossible to avoid Spanish in daily life, as well as words that are latin- and greek-derived and you basically get "for free" even if sometimes it can feel a bit backwards. Take "polémico" for instance, describing something that provokes controversy. "Polemic" is a word most English speakers will know, but it isn't high on their list when they go to say "something that provokes controversy." Situations like this happen all the time where the "less common" or "literary" variant of something in English is the more commonly-used in Spanish since Spanish more often defaults to the latinate.
You can start reading Spanish as early as day 1 as well, since you can just skim a grammar guide to get a vague idea of the shapes of verb forms and get into the details later on. It's more important to immerse than it is to understand all the details immediately, since those will come with time and exposure.
>>
>>737562158
If its active, forceful or dominant that's masculine. If its passive, supportive or submissive, that's feminine. Basically if something's stepped on? That's a feminine thing, if its active in stepping on? Masculine. kek. Think of it like machismo! What do foreigners think is super-masculine? Base it on that its almost always right.

Forever grateful to my mother for teaching me english at an early age. I got to enjoy 2 worlds growing up, and now understanding spanish allows me to sidestep the horrendously bad english localizations.
>>
>>737562285
You just ignored all of the grammar. It's "hotel's opposite side on is shop in saw suit wearing want am"
>>
>>737562648
Sure, I considered moving "i saw" into the suit's compound adjective but was too lazy to redo. Of course "I" was inserted and "want" was flipped because that is the translation. They are within a reasonable distance from their context and shouldn't be the main issue in grammar here. It would be similar to complaining about verb conjugation in Spanish. Ultimately, this wasn't meant to be a 1:1 recreation in English grammar ordering but a best effort to help one somewhat understand Japanese grammar.
Lastly, it is only hard to understand if spoken aloud but if you are aware of compound adjectives, it really isn't that bad in text. ESLs speak pretty close to this and a native speaker should be able to decipher the meaning.

The easiest one is the language you're actually interested in.
Most euro languages shouldn't be that difficult, but if you don't give a fuck about spanish or german, then it's going to be 20 times harder than learning japanese, if you were a huge weeb.
But if you want to impress chicks, just pick spanish, italian or french, maybe japanese or korean if you like nerdy weeb girls.

Anyone who says Spanish either speaks Spanish like the indians in western movies or they are native Spanish speakers and don't understand how difficult the language is.

Spanish has a FUCKTON of verb conjugations (there are more than 30 tenses, each one is different for first, second, third person singular and first, second, third person plural) and you need to know all of them to precisely pinpoint the time the action happens or you sound VERY weird, every word has a gender and you must learn them all by memory, as there isn't any rule.

English is the easiest language bar the pronunciation, which is whatever you fucks felt like that day. That's the reason it became the lingua franca.

As an EOS, just pick whatever you like, you're going to have a bad time anyway. If you want to learn something useful, learn Chinese or Spanish. If you want to play vidya, learn Japanese

>>737567723
Too much honesty/integrity. Leftists have no problem lying and using trickery as long as it's for a "righteous cause." Assuming you are American, Spanish is the easiest to learn because it's integrated into society. You can turn almost anything over and get an exact copy of text in Spanish, and you're surrounded by Spanish speakers whether you realize it or not. Most American high schools only offer one foreign language, and it's Spanish, which means everyone is pretty familiar with it. Outside of some oddities, it's similar enough to English in structure.

German will help as a sequental logical language, it's a big reason why they are so good at fine engineering paired with their higher IQ.
Like the Chinese are good with numbers but mostly because they calculate with a language that has no sense of time, they treat fictional money in the futre as if they already have it.
Yet English enables alternative outside the box thinking with multiple ways to portray something so you're blessed with coming up with something that could save your life instead of being a slant eyed chink that goes forward at 100 mph because they never ran into a problem in their life that required them to change course and their way of driving before just fucking dying as they stare a thousand yards ahead.

Not English.
Why German is more difficult?
Cases. Exceptions to the rules. Mostly the cases. English speakers are not used to that.
>>
english is basically the best language in the world and thats why its the lingua franca of earth, despite there being more chinese than there are native english speakers
there are two reasons for this
A. english doesnt fuck around with conjugating verbs. almost every other language fell into this trap of over-complicating bullshit by changing verbs depending on context; english does not do this. a word is a fucking word and if the context changes, its communicated clearly through individual words and a strict logical word order
B. english doesnt have a wacky bizarro land sentence and word structure, because it conforms and matches to the human experience of time. past to future. subject to verb. none of that bullshit about saying what youre doing before you identify whats being done to it; in english, you would say something like 'i saw john today', not some ridiculous bullshit like 'saw i john today' like in some other languages

anyone who disagrees is a salty ESL or a malding weeb

German glues every single word together or something
>>
>>737574168
English is an efficient but lazy language. We've gradually gotten rid of anything too complicated in inflected speech, for the sake of simplicity and time.
So romance languages are easier for us to intuit because Latin itself is pretty simple (Even simpler than English in many ways).
While German is pretty antithetical to the idea of simplicity, efficiency and laziness, despite being closer to us.
Umlauts are a specific case that mess us up because (Americans atleast) are lazy with pronunciation and don't have the ears or care for slight phonetic differences that are vital in German.
>>
>>737575530
English doesn't read as it writes because it's a botched islander language
Ex. "Beach" and "Bitch" sound the same despite being written differently
>>
>>737574168
grammatical gender and verb conjugation are the two big hurdles for a native English speaker learning French, Spanish etc.
Add a third gender, case, a bit of dodgy word order (moving verbs to end of clauses etc), different vocab since English is heavily French/Latin influenced and you get why German is more difficult.
Despite its own idiosyncracies, a Germanic language like Swedish is (at least for me) a much easier one to cope with.
>>
>>737576415
ESL detected
you are absolutely incorrect, beach and bitch sound different and are spelled differently
what youre thinking about is words like 'though' which are STILL superior to other languages because even though (huhuhu) context can change when they're used, THE FUCKING WORD DOESNT CHANGE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO MEMORIZE 20 DIFFERENT VARIATIONS FOR USE CASES.

No fucking way. I'm Italian and English is a billion times easier than Latin. Are you insane?

English is a simple and synthetic language, it communicates things fast in a generic way but it has zero nuance. In Italian you would need to use a sentence express concepts you can express with a single word in English but this also allows you to fine tune what you want to express, whereas English doesn't allow for that.
So, yeah, if you're impatient like me, English is a great language.

My 2 cents:
Trannies from the rest of the world quickly learn English so they can find "communities" that encourage them. This is why most tranny culture is created in English and eventually the anglicisms trickle down to the rest of the world and often looks out of place when plastered in different cultures.
This makes English the language most needing of pozzing, as well as the language most global trannies consume their media in, leaving all other languages free from the pozz.

as someone who recently played a bit of the DQ HD remakes to test my JP the "ye olde' english" in the translated texts was pissing me off seeing it side by side with the japanese.

The basic idea is correct; the original Japanese is full of 2000's Japanese memes, so the English version should reflect that. The problem is that the translation is incompetent. They use modern day memes in a time period it does not belong in, an anachronism, and they replace perfectly legible memes (Rance's gahaha, Fate reference) with their garbage.

“That’s what Jesus meant,” whispers the ghost of Slothrop’s first American ancestor William, “venturing out on the Sea of Galilee. He saw it from the lemming point of view. Without the millions who had plunged and drowned, there could have been no miracle. The successful loner was only the other part of it: the last piece to the jigsaw puzzle, whose shape had already been created by the Preterite, like the last blank space on the table.”
“Wait a minute. You people didn’t have jigsaw puzzles.”
“Aw, shit.”

>>737575530
English is context-dependent enough that even if you mangle it pretty badly in terms of pronunciation and grammar, it's usually not hard for the other person to figure out what you mean, and to do so quickly enough for it to work for casual conversation. That's the main reason it spread so easily. Any two people who both speak English as a second language, poorly, can communicate with it and do so reasonably well.

Sums up my views on this issue pretty much. I don't mind localizations taking liberties to translate the original meaning/intent to a different audience but removing memes/references that any average weeb would understand and erasing all of the cultural and historical context that defines its setting is just egregiously incompetent work if you at all take your job as a "localizer" seriously. it dilutes the piece of art into something easily digestible and unremarkable, which while it might boost sales in the short term(not in this case) it ends up damaging the artwork's soul on a deeper level.

like imagine if someone localized Welcome to the NHK and inserted a bunch of zoomer memes, totally removing it from the late 90's/early 00's era Japan that it took place in. someone reading it 10 or 20 years from now would be completely lost reading that translation.

“He might bite,” Alice cautiously replied, not feeling at all anxious to have the experiment tried.
“Very true,” said the Duchess: “flamingoes and mustard both bite. And the moral of that is—‘Birds of a feather flock together.’”
“Only mustard isn’t a bird,” Alice remarked.
“Right, as usual,” said the Duchess: “what a clear way you have of putting things!”
“It’s a mineral, I think,” said Alice.
“Of course it is,” said the Duchess, who seemed ready to agree to everything that Alice said; “there’s a large mustard-mine near here. And the moral of that is—‘The more there is of mine, the less there is of yours.’”
“Oh, I know!” exclaimed Alice, who had not attended to this last remark, “it’s a vegetable. It doesn’t look like one, but it is.”
“I quite agree with you,” said the Duchess; “and the moral of that is—‘Be what you would seem to be’—or if you’d like it put more simply—‘Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.’”
“I think I should understand that better,” Alice said very politely, “if I had it written down: but I can’t quite follow it as you say it.”
“That’s nothing to what I could say if I chose,” the Duchess replied, in a pleased tone.

This is a known blind spot in translations/localization: references. Obviously this game's translation has major issues, but for people to know references from the 90s or 00s they had to be there unless there's some sort of translation note pop-up made by the creator that says "NOTE: This is reference to 2003 internet meme from Game A".
Most translators for this stuff are people in their 20s from around the world, they're not going to know references from Japan that only made it to 4chan or other niche places 20 years ago.

Unfortunately most non-ENG translations are translated FROM the ENG version. It's cheaper to get a local ENG translator than a JAP/KR/CN translator so that's what they do 90% of the time. So ENG trannies are actually ruining games for the entire world

>but for people to know references from the 90s or 00s they had to be there
I think this kinda thing just adds layers of depth to a game and are integral to people's enjoyment.
Like no one complains that to understand all of Elden Ring's lore you have to go to a wiki or some lore youtuber and jump through a bunch of hoops researching ancient religions, books, magic systems, etc that are referenced in the game. It gives you extra steps you can engage in as a fan of the work to maximize your enjoyment and understanding of the art.

Ironically the same localizers(Dragonbaby) that worked on Yunyun Syndrome also worked on Signalis, and that game is absolutely full of anime, politics, lovecraftian horror, and other random shit that requires a deep dive on the player's part to fully understand. It even has an entire ingame "magic" system based on a real world pseudoscience movement that was based in the developer's home country. None of this can be easily understood unless the player goes out of their way to look for it online or just so happened to already know about it. The game obviously won't tell you. The King in Yellow is literally the core catalyst for the entire game's story and descent into madness and anyone that isn't familiar with the book would be totally confused about its significance unless they did a google search. This kinda thing gives games a lot more lore "depth" and shouldn't be removed from them at the risk of removing understanding.
>>
>>737584269
I'm sure someone using words like "tranime" is well versed in this.
Most modern English translations are done by third worlders because they're cheaper. Places like CR have an office in America or Europe with some overpaid yuppies posting on twitter and goofing off on discord all day, but for the actual work they outsource it all.
>>
>>737559727
I’m from Argentina, it used to be not too long ago that Spanish translations were absolutely terrible, phoned in and just awful. If you wanted to play a Japanese game you had to get the English translation, and for western games you had to play the original. It’s incredible seeing how bad English translations have fallen. They were literal peak and now they’re at the bottom of the barrel
>>
>>737584931
No they weren't. Xenogears translation sucked, so did Tsuikihime+F/SN. Dragon Quest was getting lolcalised constantly. We only started getting some decent translations in the 10's/early 20's (Dies Irae, Subahibi, Muramasa, Black Souls)
>>
>>737585096
You have no idea how bad non English translations were. You pretty much always knew that if you got the English version of the game at least it would be decent and also your best choice. Even if a translation wasn’t perfect you knew it would beat any alternative that wasn’t playing the original. English was always the language for gaming. I don’t know how it happened but they ruined it

japanese translations basically went from dogshit(1980's, 1990's, early 2000's) due to companies like 4Kids thinking "localizing" means "ensuring the viewer doesn't know this work is from Japan and not America"
then we had a bit of a renaissance of localizations in the mid 00's and early 2010's where companies just gave you exactly what was on the box and expected consumers to exercise their own agency when it comes to what media they consume and whether it's "appropriate" or not.
and now we've come full circle with jews trying to inject propaganda into asian media to make it "american" just like 4kids.
maybe in 4 or 5 years we'll go back to having good localizations again.

I do agree with the core message that fascism fucking sucks and it should end, I don't think it's really appropriate in this kind of situation. I 100% want there to be faithful, accurate translations of games, and I highly doubt that this is what the original writers actually wanted. I don't care what kind of mental gymnastics or bullshit people would pull to justify horrible localizations or translations like this, I don't want a horribly localized version of, say, Silent Hill 2 that turns it's masterful writing into the ADV Ghost Stories dub.

We need more people with Sonic Fan autism who go out of their way to mod their games to have more accurate, faithful translations of the original script.

>Localizers are so bad that people are cheering for AI to replace a creative field
Imagine being so insufferable that you are going against Satan and people are siding with the latter.
>>
>>737594462
AI has no soul but it has no agenda either.
>>
>>737588451
This but unironically.
>>
>>737594462
>creative field
No. You translate the fucking text, you do not add your own "creative" content to it
>>
>>737594919
There is always a dose of creativity when translating, even if you are the author and speak multiple languages.
However, I don't blame you for being hostile to the concept since this is the very same Trojan Horse that's been abused in order to fuck everything up forever.

This is actually very common.

Capitalism usually rolls out societally destructive changes by first amplifying and elevating the worst examples of things like unions, universal healthcare, free speech, public education, pensions, etc as public scandals so they can then use them as propaganda to support their new "revolutionary" idea that is just feudalism 2.0. the same people that invest in these horrible localization companies that destroy Japanese culture are also invested in AI companies that are going to make the localizers obsolete. they know that by making the localizers do controversial shit, and hiring only the worst dregs of society for these positions, they can then respond to any controversy caused by their minions by announcing they've replaced them with AI or Indians or just straight up "downsized" the industry like what happened with Gaming as a whole and it'll be met with cheers by the tourists who just want to see their ideological enemies "lose" even if it's at their own long-term expense. obviously I don't feel sorry for anyone involved in this debacle but I do feel sorry for the actual localizers and translators watching this from the sidelines and seeing their industry destroyed by bourgeois schemes while the masses cheer.

tl;dr jews are in control

The people that train it do however.
>>
>>737594529
This.
You honestly summed it up perfectly. I'll go back to supporting localizations when they remove the problem infesting them.
Until then, AI it is.
>>
>>737595083
I think it's more of a case of businesses exploiting a tragedy rather than programming because localizers being terrible has been a meme for decades.
The oldest example I remember is Earthbound where the localizer changed Paula's character in order to make her less girly because he deemed that wasn't progressive enough.
>>

>>
>>737595164
You're retarded. The faggots who push for inclusiveness were all about ignoring the down sides of muslim culture but they never seem to be able to do the same when it comes to Japan. They support shit like Sharia while saying nips are sexist and women there are second class citizens who are always in danger of being raped hence the female only train cars

The Recognitions was a really great book. I'm glad we have at least one other Gaddis appreciator in the thread.

>>737595083
>and it'll be met with cheers by the tourists who just want to see their ideological enemies "lose" even if it's at their own long-term expense
This sums up right versus left politics pretty much. It always amazes me the new ways rich people come up with to distract the populace.
>>

for weeb shit? french I am not joking
>>
>>737595236
no you don't understand anon, everything bad progressives do is actually a psyop by capitalist pigs to prevent you from achieving class consciousness and fighting for the intersectional socialist utopia. progressives aren't really bad, only capitalists are.
>>
>>737561008
Don't bother trying. It's over for you. Best you can do is learn a few phrases and then spend all your time complaining that the language "doesn't make sense" because things are different from how they are in English.
>>
>>737564754

Oh, fucking kill yourself, troon.
They literally did this to themselves. They could not stop forcing their contemporary sociopolitical beliefs where they don't belong, and when people, rightfully, got sick of it, they RIGHTFULLY went to AI.
And now, here you are, refusing to see the issue, and crying "LE CAPITALISM DID DIS!!"
No, troon. You did this. People had zero (0) issue buying localized games 10, 15, 20, and even 30 years ago when you faggots could stop forcing your beliefs into everything for five minutes. Or, y'know, before millennials became localizers.
It's hilarious seeing you say, "w-what about the poor good localizers??"
What "good ones"? Where? Literally point to them. Are they in the room with us right now.

He's actually right, the company credited for the other translations is an AI-assisted Japanese localization company
Supposedly they have actual professionals checking everything over but they're not shy about admitting their whole thing is using AI to accelerate the translation process

Honestly, I hate AI, but holy fucking shit, I genuinely want every single English localizer to be replaced by AI, I want them homeless and destitute until they can no longer take care of themselves and choose to commit suicide.
These people are a genuine cancer on humanity.
>>
>>737595590
>People had zero (0) issue buying localized games 10, 15, 20, and even 30 years ago when you faggots could stop forcing your beliefs into everything for five minutes.
they were still forcing their beliefs in even then. they just weren't doing it as frequently or as overtly.

>What "good ones"? Where? Literally point to them
they don't work in anime, manga, or games translation.
>>
>>737595236
The people hired for localization is usually a publisher decision not a game dev decision tho. Oftentimes these idiots think they can boost sales by appealing to the cutting edge of youth culture but inevitably it just makes people mad and then they pivot and blame the contracted localizer team for doing what they were told to do.

I suspect that's what's going on here, not to defend the retards at Dragonbaby but they localized dozens of other games just fine, including weird Japanese games like NSO that fit into a similar cultural territory, so they definitely are capable of doing a "proper" localization. It's very likely the publisher asked them to add some "spice" and "memes" to the translation and rather than add millennial internet memes that zoomers wouldn't understand, or just 1:1 translating the japanese memes, they thought it would be cool to idk, insert a bunch of zoomer slang and sjw nonsense. Then the publisher saw this and approved it because "we might get the tiktok audience" or whatever and now the game is forever ruined.
>>
>>737595704
But he's talking about the english translation only which we know was by Dragonbaby

you can see they worked on a lot of fairly successful games and didn't pull this shit. even the anime games didn't have outright propaganda thrown in.

That's not applicable to AI translations in video games.
An AI model will never translate a shopkeeper's dialogue from
>ありがとうございます。良い一日を。
to
>Ugh. Thanks for supporting a fascist capitalistic regime that wants to kill all trans folx, nazi chud.
like a millennial localizer will.
>>
>>737595083
Did this "capitalism" force you to ruin a game's translation by erroneously inserting your political beliefs?
>>
>translating "yamero" as "end fascism" and "iranai" as "i'd cut my uterus out if i cld"
I-is this the worst english translation in a video game of all time?
>>
>>737574168
60% of english words are borrowed from latin, but only about 5% for german. You are learning basically everything, but a lot of words in romance languages will have cognates.

Most vidya trannylators are politically motivated retards who infiltrated themselves in the field to push their crap. It's such a low hanging fruit that anyone who can read can do it, you don't even need a degree, unless you are translating shit for a big AAA. Same reason why vidya journalism sucks.
>>
>>737596010
Then they should have known better, even if the publisher was all "spice it up!" (Which is odd that they only asked this of the english translation)
>>
>>737568953
Because we gave trannys or bad actors the reign of culture and look at that they cant produce shit that isn't tranny propaganda

its so fucking weird. i started reading case closed again and only read it in german since i was a lil kid and all those name changes are crazy to me. kamen yaiba is samurai kid, all the westernized names for most of the main characters taking place in japan, canon english sections just straigt up missing because it is in english (that one i cant really blame them). i'm happy the germans are really neat and precise up to a fault, or used to be. i'm guessing most of the other european translations are similar, as i know for a fact the french and italians have a big manga scene.

americans have no respect for culture at all.

That's because they are legitamate normalfags whose only interface with the internet was with and forever was through their phones. Steve jobs created these people by giving everyone access to the internet which was a bad idea and is costing society now gravely. These people literally do not belong on the internet because in a normal world they would've just had a passing interest in it
