Why does it look like the exact same game again

if I have tropico 4 would there be any reason to get these sequels?
my gut is telling me no.
>>
>>737562097
No
>>
>>737560053
Because it has been since 3. If you've played one, you've played them all. There is zero reason to keep making this series and even less to keep buying it.
>>
>>737560053
because it literally is. are you shocked?
>>
>>737560053
>tfw dropped Tropico 3 a few hours in
>saw Tropico 4 was more of the same shit
>they've now made FIVE of their dogshit rehashes meanwhile Tropico 1/2 are still great.

Kalypso are such fucking cancer.
>>
>>737564104
How are they even still around? Is anyone really still buying these? The only reason I even have 5 and 6 are because Playstation and Epic have given them away for free, and even then I still haven't played them because I got my fill of it permanently from 3 and 4.

6 is "ok." It's very simplistic, but it mostly works out.
>>
>>737564216
They have other games like Railway Empire.
>>
Once you play Tropico 4 you've played them all
>>
they need to improve how transportation works. it's really painfully simplistic and can randomly shit all over you.
>>
>>737564216
>How are they even still around?
German company massively subsidized by the German tax payer through government subsidies and investment schemes, with a little creative accounting you can make more money off of financial flops than with successes and when you're just rehashing the same game five times and calling it five different productions, that becomes VERY lucrative.

It's why the Gothic and X series devs are still around, I actually like their games (older Gothics at least), but they were never financially successful kek

What would it take for Kalypso to catch your attention with a new Tropico game? What new features would you like to see in the game?
>>
>>737565304
Making the economy more complex? That's the basis for any city builder.
>>
>>737565304
Nothing. I'm not interested in seeing this meme franchiee again. Make a different game entirely.
>>

>What would it take for Kalypso to catch your attention with a new Tropico game? What new features would you like to see in the game?
Pro tip marketer, people don't want "a new Tropico game." You've thrashed the IP to death, the only thing people now associate with the IP is milquetoast rehashes and greedy DLC practices which is reflected in the poor sales.

Quit being lazy and take a chance on something new or drown in the sea of absolutely stellar city builders now available.
>>
>>737564782
The government funding is a small part of their financing and Piranha Bytes are gone, fuck knows why those idiots stayed with Elex when they could have gone back to Gothic or Risen
The X series and Tropico are still around because they provide decent service to their fans
>>
>>737565304
Winter colder islands?
Something like the Falkland islands but independent
>>
>>737565304
Since you sound like you work for the company, my honest and serious answer is this: I want a serious city builder where you play as a ruthless dictator. This joke-y parody/satire version was sort of funny 15 years ago but at this point is as tired and stale as the millenial and Gen X redditors who came up with it back then. I want a genuine city builder that let's me be monstrously evil. I want to genocide sections of my population, commit war crimes, crack down hard on crime and dissent, nuke other countries, etc, and I want the game to do it with a completely straight face and absolute sincerity. That might sound edgy, but I am beyond tired of seeing that stupid cover art character for this franchise and for it to just be one big meme where you create generic island resort towns with tongue in cheek jokes about Cuba that stopped being relevant nearly 30 years ago. I don't have any suggestions about changing gameplay, but I think this series needs a massive overhaul in terms of its tone, aesthetics, and vibe. Instead of hammering me over the head with jokes about the human rights violations supposedly hidden behind the bright colored cabanas, actually let me build death camps and hide them out of sight of my tourist destinations and make me manage these things.

tl;dr Tropico needs to reinvent itself. It needs to be about what it says it's about instead of just being one big dumb joke about that that stopped being funny three installments back.

Tropico set in Africa when?
It would be hilarious to play as Mugabe scamming all those ONG.
>>
I just want to torment my citizens more than what 6 let me do
>>
>>737566276
>>737569547
What the fuck? I was just curious what you would do with this series. The only game I've played is Tropico 4. I'm not even that big of a fan. Perhaps if I had included some of my retarded ideas, such as being kidnapped by the U.S. or a first-person mode, my post wouldn't have sounded so serious.
>>
>>737571413
Your post sounds like and is worded exactly like marketing research questionnaires and surveys. You legitimately came across as someone who works for them. I simply assumed you were the OP as well since absolutely nobody here cares about this series enough to make a thread like this to begin with.
>>
>>737560053
They've made seven of these and I haven't played any of them.
>>
>Take Tropico 4
>proceed to make things more complicated by adding unnecessary mechanics to base game to pad out the same content
>call it a sequel
They took the same exact game and made it more annoying by making you micro-ing everything now.
>>
Looks like trash, just remake tropico 4
>>
>>737574387
They've already done that three times now
>>
All the new editions they added look great. Roads and traffic look promising, Im happy they got rid of the grid, the political compass looks interesting. I hope they add back traits like T1-T3 had. I think it's important and fun part in having to choose negative traits and not just positive ones.
>>
>>737574837
All they've done is add retarded eras, add a bunch of bloat like stealing the Eiffel tower, and strip out all of the sovlful characters
>>
i think i like tropico but the only game that has held my attention is the first
>>
>>737576865
Pirate's cove is also good.
>>
I dont want terraforming in my tropico.
>>
5 and 6 are the only ones I've played and I platinum both of them.
>>
>>737560053
The medals on his uniform look fucked up. I'm pretty sure they just tossed in a prompt and picked the first one that came out.
>>
>>737564216
they also have a pretty lucrative scam operation going on, sending out letters demanding payments for copyright infringements that didnt even happen
