Can we agree that SupCom has the best moment-to-moment strategy and, thus, the best castability? T1 spam, T2 pushes, T3 rushes, and experimentals vastly change up the status quo throughout a match. This can happen on land, as navy, and in the air, massively diversifying what happens every game. Moment-to-moment storyworth is *the* defining aspect of fun. The more fun it is to describe, the more enjoyable it is.
starcraft 2 solos gg
>>737578868Stop fucking spamming this thread, it's the third one I've personally seen already in as many days. 80% of all new FAF players bail because the hardcore playerbase is so experienced they just get stomped and every comp match only lasts until someone gets enough T3 bombers to snipe the ACU anyway. Maybe if Nomads was more successful there'd be new blood, but there isn't.
>>737579583We can have an RTS thread per day. If you don't want to, you can literally just hide the thread and not post. If you do want to, what are you complaining about? The OP is a perspective we really haven't talked about. And you would find it really important. Objective quality based on neural linguistics is huge.

>>737579583>Stop fucking spamming this thread, it's the third one I've personally seen already in as many days.Yeah its weird there was a fuck load of rts threads filled to the brim with SupCom, BAR and Zero-K autism given that /vst/ is a thing
>>737580537/vst/ gets one or two posts per day. We should absolutely have a /v/ thread until we can keep up a /vg/ thread.
>>737580798If you don't have enough engagement to keep the topic alive organically, take the hint and fuck off instead of polluting a space adjacent to but distinct from the correct one because you think you're entitled to other people's attention.
>>737581002>Organically.People don't know about or browse /vst/.>The correct board.I see you don't really have an argument but your headcannon. One RTS thread per day is absolutely welcome.
>>737578868Hell fucking no. I tried to play coop FAF and it was a buggy, boring, piece of shit.
>You can zoom in on the minimap by scrolling, and it has strategic icons.Kino. Clicking around on a minimap with one zoom and a bunch of dots is unimmersive, detracting from arguably the biggest feature of RTS, feeling like you're controlling a real battle.
>>737581002Oh sure and leave space for very important topics like "twitter screencap" and "gacha game" and "steam charts" threads
Any good casts? Here's the one I'm watching.https://youtu.be/yPYhWoPjXEw?si=CzJo84UaC4K50GtM.I'm not sure if I like Seton's. What do you think? Dual Gap has an extra land slot, which can be far more involving than air or navy.
>>737579583>Maybe if Nomads was more successful there'd be new blood, but there isn't.Even then I don't think there is much the supcom MP community can do to bring new players to try it out by themselves, unless they get a well known youtuber to review the game thus leading up a spike in the playerbase the game is doomed to have the same players doing the same plays over and over.
>>737578868The SupCom shill is getting me to hate this game already
>>737580537/vst/ kicked them out
>>737584275How the fuck did they manage that? Explains why they're here, and trying to skinsuit an FAF thread while claiming to be speaking for all of the RTS community. If they'd come here quoting Generals they'd have gotten a much warmer welcome.
>>737580798If everyone interested in the subject went to /vst/ you'd get a lot more posts.
Zero-K is the purest form of RTS.https://zero-k.info/mediawiki/Cold_Takes/14_-_Free_Factories_For_All
>>737583040That ending is really good. Anyone saying T1 spam isn't relevant an hour into the game hasn't seen this.
Zero-K has perfected RTS. It is the most RTS RTS of all RTS.https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/334920/view/518611248440410918
kill all ta-like niggers
>>737588296Go back to your normalfag thread.
1,000 years in the future, RTS gigachads full of testosterone, IQ and chest hair will be playing Total Annihilation derivative games. There will be trillions. Meanwhile the MOBA normalfags won't even play video games anymore, they will just consoom.
>>737584275How exactly can a dead board kick anyone out?
I find BAR more fun to play and watch
>>737589223Why?I find BAR to be really cramped. I don't think people should play more than like 6v6. Also, I much prefer Share Until Death Assassination.
Does BAR or Zero K have replays?
>>737590520https://zero-k.info/Battleshttps://www.beyondallreason.info/replays
>>737589223This, the smaller scale balances decision making a bit better. It's more impactful.

>>737592007Randy's tourney 1v1s are some of the most interesting RTS matches I've ever seen.
>>737591748SupCom experienced players have similar strategy-and-counter times over the course of games. I don't think it's hard to have meta times. Do you really think less scale is beneficial to experienced BAR players? Doesn't the power creep of SupCom feel much better and more strategic across all the buildings and units available? Isn't there much more player fantasy?I *would* say that various strategies can have extremely competitive times. It's maybe not always advantageous to solo build vs. the enemy team when you could always be more efficient with cooperative strategies, but a lot of options can be really effective. I think the choice between lower level spam and higher level rushing (including experimentals) is much more skill expressive than what I've seen of BAR. Ecoing can have players at multiples of unaware or inexperienced players, but this increases the importance of scouting and taking safety measures like shields and tactical missile defense, which can be easy to do.
>Want to watch videos on my phone.>Almost out of data. Are there any like $60 phone plans with unlimited data?
SupCom is so innovative. Utilizing the universal energy density of a diamond could indeed lead to mass fabrication.
ok I'm done giving ta-like fans the benefit of the doubt. you are all clowns who play your game at retard baby level and can't even tell the difference between strategy, tactic, and unit composition.
>>737596036"I'm making air" is a strategy. Deal with it.
>>737596694brainlet god
>>737596036I literally could not give less of a shit, I'm not interested in other RTS because they do not and will not minimize the parts of RTS that are not fun.
>>737596036You do not comprehend the fundemental concepts of RTS.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHCXLuTix58
>>737583485We need a platform that brings people together to play the same games and discuss quality. I'm not sure how any available platform could handle "everyone", but we need a way to mass communicate the preferences of everybody to companies, CEOs, and lead developers.
>>737596984What game?
>>737596036I don't think TA or anything descending from it should even be considered in the same genre as other RTS. God knows I don't want to share it with you people.
>>737596880Not an argument. You could say my tactic is 20 air factories producing units and my unit composition is ASFs, but my strategy is absolutely making air.
>>737597632I can't tell which side you're on.
>>737597887Not the one that enjoys Starcraft. I thought the game sucked in 1998 and still do.
>>737597887Total Annihilation is known as the God of RTS for a reason.
>>737597995If this is your god then I'm an atheist
>>737597836still wrong. I will explain it on last time.a strategy is your overall plan for winning the game based on your knowledge of the game, the matchup, the map, your opponent, etc.>I'm going to use early aggression to secure the resources in the center island which will give me economic dominance in the long term>I'm going to use air units to attack my opponent's economy because this map's terrain makes it difficult to respond with a ground army>I'm going to all-in because I'm ahead 2-1 in a 5 game seriesthese are all strategies.a tactic is an action or sequence of actions meant to accomplish some kind of short term goal as part of your overall strategy. >I'm going to use a nuke to destroy my opponent's static defenses so my army can attack without losses>I'm going to use a flying transport to move my army over impassible terrain so I can attack from an unexpected angle>I'm going to make my unit production right outside my opponent's base to reduce reinforcement timethese are tactics.a unit composition is simply stating what you intend to build. it can be part of your strategy or it can be a reaction to your opponent.>I'm going to go infantry>I'm going corsair/dt>I saw my opponent made knights so I switched to camelsthese are statements about unit compositions.a build order is a predetermined sequence of actions meant to get you to a desired game state at the start of a match. your build order depends on your overall strategy.>9pool>2 stable knights>crypt lord fast expandthese are build orders.
>>737598975"I'm making air" has the understood "to have air superiority". You can't say that's your tactic because it's not an actionable or short term maneuver. You can't say it's your unit composition because it's not what would generally be considered a specific mix of units.
>>737581552>You can open as many minimaps as you like and put them on multiple screens and have them each track different units Blizzdrones need to stay silent when a supreme commander is talking
>>737600293if "making air" is enough to be a strategy your game must be laughably simple. even playing as pr*toss in starcraft you can't just make carriers and expect to win. you have to be on the right map for it and have the proper economy to support it, and in the end you still need some amount of ground army to clear the goliaths after you snipe all the tanks.
>>737600797Watch >>737592007 >>737597435 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVzOQMr5ZSEYou will be amazed.
>>737600797>even playing as pr*toss in starcraft you can't just make carriers and expect to win.I would think that's a map size problem. Here again, we find the vastly increased strategy options deriving from various designs in SupCom. Navy is another.>The huge amount of naval interactions.
