The urge to reload
>>737580221dew it, you never know when you may need that one extra round
Has any Shooter had Mag based loading?Where you have to spend time loading mags, and also emptying partially loaded mags that you ejected prematurely?
the urge to unload
>>737580908Red Orchestra had that, and SWAT, though I can't remember from which installment on.
>>737580908Tarkov? You can even discard magazines instead of putting them in your pouch by pressing a specific button iirc but I might be wrong (never played the game).
>>737581065>cute girl That's how I know it's not a girl.
>>737581190Pressing R twice if i'm not mistaken. It reloads faster but throws away the half-empty mag
>>737580908Play Synthetik, bro. That game has super reload autism where you have to do the steps pretty manually, your gun can jam, and other detailed stuff. Before it became cyberpunk, it was some kind of gritty WW2 realsim type game. And I think the OG Rainbow 6 games also were very realistic with the 'no, you just lost those bullets by discarding the mag' stuff.
>>737580908Ever since Tarkov more games are doing it.
>>737580908recent example is counter-strike
>reload with an already full mag>character twirls the gun/spins the cylinder/etc
>>737580221>>737580908While no actual ammunition is discarded when reloading early, in the original Killing Floor doing that is bad because ammo is calculated in magazines left and not fully using mags mess it all, which (often) may cause confusion on the last one (e.g thinking you have 50 rounds left when it actually is just 10)
>>737580908Zomboid has you load mags manually.
>>737581615>reload with an already full mag>character turns around the gun and sudokus
>>737581278I like that synthetik has both separate eject/reload binds and the spacebar bind that can do bothmad respect for people that thrive with the separate binds, I already drop my spaghetti hard enough in high escalation to consider not using the spacebar
>>737580908Rarely. Even the more basic version of partial mags is still super rare in most games. The original ghost recon is the first game I can remember playing that had partially loaded mags instead of a shared ammo pool. It came out the same year as halo and we know which system became more popular.
>quicksave>reload>quicksave
In multiplayer you're better off using the whole mag and letting auto reload take care of you.You die getting punked while reloading more than running out of ammo while shooting someone
>>737580908I have just the game for you.
>>737582447>letting auto reload take care of youChambering a round prolongs the animation in most games.
>>737582659Who just leaves their lasers on when putting away their gun?
>>737580908Battlefield 2
>>737582447so... play anything that isnt cod or battlefield lately?
>game has a magazine-based reloading system>you can't pick up mags you've dropped on the ground
>reload your knife>your character takes a smaller knife and inserts it into the hilt
>>737580908my game does this
>Game doesn't have characters with magically infinite and auto-filling magazines so they have to manually reload one bullet at a time unless you have a spare magazineRE Outbreak was cool and ahead of its time
>>737583394I mean, if you're using a knife often enough to dull the blade/risk breaking it and don't have access to any decent sharpening stones, you could totally reblade a handle theoretically.

>>737580908Receiver (2) is about as autistic as it gets. I really like it.
>>737580908Due Process
>Last man standing on team>Kill enemy player>Reload instinctively>Dead ally on mic: "OH YEAH I'M SURE YOU NEED THOSE THREE EXTRA BULLETS"
>>737580221>stupidly high magazine capacity >can kill most targets in a handful of shots>comically fast reloadWhat’s even the point of including reloading in these types of games?
>>737585119>dead ally on micGames like that specifically don't let dead players communicate with live ones. You are a liar.
>>737580908Mafia (2002) does it. And you can also reload when the mag is already full, losing a full mag in the process
>>737585817Not every FPS was made after tryhards took over
>>737588174>Ugly and rusted gun.I have a strong urge to clean it nnngh
>>737580908Beyond Citadel has Receiver-like controls but things to actually shoot at.
>>737580908Helldivers.
>>737582659I think games like ItR are the best way to train yourself off of reloading neurosis. If you're trying to keep every magazine topped with individual bullets every fight you're going to drive yourself crazy.
>>737580221>Using a keyboard instead of a controller KWAB
Are many new shooters doing staged reloads? Because I've been wondering why games haven't been doing them for over 20 years and it seems like it's only recently becoming a thing
>>737592193>staged reloads?
>>737580908Yes, Rainbow 6 (at least the old hardcore milsim ones) were like that. If you kept reloading after every shot you ended up with 10 magazines with only a couple of bullets in each so you had to actually be tactical with when you were going to reload and actually be aware of how many bullets you have.
>>737580908the old SOCOM games on ps2 did this and i loved it
>>737592639It means the entire reload animation happens in stages. So if the reload animation removes the magazine, you've passed the magazine removal stage, and if you cancel the reload after removing the magazine, when you reload again, you skip the magazine removal part because you've already done it.Traditionally it just plays the entire animation if you cancel the reload regardless of how much you already reloaded
>>737592639the reload animation is split into different stages (mag in/out, bolt/hammer cocked/decocked, round chambered etc.) and the game remembers what state your gun is in if you interrupt the reload for any reason
>>737580221its funny since irl you just dont carebeen a competetive shooter in issf and ipsc for 10 years with a lot of titles won and ... you only reload when you have toand you would think irl experience would change my habits?nope, i press R still after 1 shot ....
