this was unexpectedly kino, the only worthwhile remake
>>
>>737592857
the only modern RE game that is actually worth a replay, despite its shortcomings.
>>
I actually borrowed this for ps4 a few years back. I wasn't expecting much and ended up playing through all the endings and shit for like 3-4 days straight.
Then I bought RE3 when it came out and was incredibly dissapointed. havent touched the series since. I might try 9 later. I already played re4 on ps2 I'm not playing it again. First person RE is also too scary for me if i'm being honest.
>>
>>737592857
4chan doesn't realize that most people didn't care about the zap system missing because the rest of the game was so good.
>>
>>737594940
did you play claire A leon B or vice versa?
>>
>>737595195
Yeah, I did twice. I played more Extreme Battle.
>>
re4make was good
>>
re kino
>>
>>737595282
it really wasn't
>>
>>737595391
It was so good that it made the original obsolete.
>>
>>737595391
yes it was
>>
so re schizos are like, basically women right? Don't they argue about who gets to sleep with Leon and that tank controls were the superior control scheme?
>>
>>737592857
REmake 2 was close to perfect. If A/B had more differences to them how in the original it'd have been a perfect remake.
They actually cared here. All assets and systems handcrafted just for this game. Zombies falling apart based on where you shoot them looked fucking gnarly.
Then REmake 3 happens. All the systems already exist as they were made for 2. Lots of assets are re-used. And yet it somehow ships with less content? How? This should've been a free slam dunk. All the Raccoon City assets can be reused. Dismemberment system and all the other misc systems all already exists. But somehow HERE they decide to cut it short.
>>
if you hate 3make then you must hate 2make or at least dislike it
you didn't play the OGs if you don't agree with this
>>
>>737595908
that's retarded kys
>>
>>737595908
>if you think x you must think y

literal woman logic, kys
>>
>>737594705
I payed $80 for RE3, only for it to be 7 hours long. At 12$ a hour I swore off the series after that. Ill rent 9 from a library if I ever figure out how.

The truth is that RE4R is an excellent game that improves on the original in several aspects but is still overall not as good as the original, but is full of hyperbolic manbaby uncs who aren't ready for that conversation and only consider the remake not only a bad remake but a bad game altogether by virtue of being a remake of RE4
>>
>>737595908
>if you hate <game that adapts 40% of the original> you must hate <game that adapts 80% of the original>
false equivalency retard

*but /v/ is full of
>>
Remember the eternal rule of the RE fanbase: whatever game you like most YOU ARE WRONG AND DESERVE TO DIE GET SOME FUCKING TASTE HOLY SHIT
>>
>>737596137
go ahead and name what it improves over the original, several aspects as you say should be easy
>>
>>737592857
>Strategic dismemberment on the zombies
>Mr. X and zombie mechanics making stealth and careful planning a viable tactic
>All the references to the OG to show that they cared
It's not perfect but RE2R is so well made. It's so sad what came after.

>>737596297
4>1>8>2>7>3>5>6

Shinji Mikami raped my uncle and this is the ontologically correct ordering.

insane how bad they bungled RE3R

Actually, RE2 remake is dogshit. Your main character incessantly blathers to themself and it gets irritating, the removal of fixed camera angles takes away the cinematic composition that came with them, Mr. X is more of an annoying pest than he is a good stalker like Scissorman from the Clock Tower games, Claire is ugly because Feminist Frequency convinced everyone that having beautiful characters in your game is sexist.

Essentially, everything that made Resident Evil 2 memorable in the first place was hollowed out. The only reason I can come up with for this game's inexplicable popularity is because pigs love slop.

>>737595780
I don't know what you're saying. The aiming is janky as fuck. You can have the barrel of your gun shoved down a zombie's throat and still miss because the bullets come from the reticle on the center of the screen.

the Original RE4 already had an elegant solution to that problem by putting a laser sight on all of the guns.
>>
>>737596137
I hate the demake screeching, but RE4 was the second worst demake Ive played beat only by tactics ogre.
Its a petty autistic compliant but killing all the fun camp but forcing me to block a chainsaw with a knife was just emblematic of the spirit of the game. Zainny in all the gayest ways.
>>
>>737595195
>did you play claire A leon B or vice versa?
What is that? I'm only aware of Leon and Claire, and their second run.
>>
>>737594940
Nobody ever cared about the zapping system it was a meme.
>Will you take the pouches or the machine pistol?
>every other weapon and herb in the game respawns for scenario B though
Fanboys who hope you never play the game will pretend it's about both playthroughs running simultaneously even though both characters have to put out the helicopter fire and solve the exact same puzzles.
>>
>>737597596
>the removal of fixed camera angles takes away the cinematic composition that came with them
The original devs would have wanted them gone anyway, they were just a means to an end because of the hardware of the time.
>The only reason I can come up with for this game's inexplicable popularity is because pigs love slop.
Resident evil has always been a slop series for normies.
>>
>>737592857
Loved Leon's playthrough.
Tried Claire and got filtered by the multiple ammos for the multiple handguns she gets and ran out of ways to attack and stopped early on.
>>
>>737595282
Yeah, Re4make is great.
>>
>>737594940
if only there was some medium where OG RE2's zapping system could have been expanded upon
a second chance, a redo, etc.

>the only worthwhile remake
Have not played it yet but I also get this sense about it in regards to the modern RE remakes (2, 3 and 4). I know that they did a shitty rush job on RE3make when they could have made that one even better than the original had they added a campaign mode for Carlos and kept the environmental choice sequences intact as well as all the areas. Fuck them for removing the clock tower. And then RE4 absolutely did not need a remake since the original is a masterpiece. It is one of the greatest games of all time. The only really egrigious thing for RE2make imo was the refusal to do proper A/B scenarios for both characters when they both should have had it. I get they wanted to do a much more in depth remake since tank control, fixed camera with pre-rendered backgrounds is just too much for the normie today. Fuck them but it is what it is. I'm probably going to get around to RE2make sooner than later and might buy RE3make if I like it enough. I will most likely never buy RE4make unless I get it super cheap though.

Also fuck RE3make for making a shittier looking Nemesis. The original design is super iconic and should have been left fully intact.
>>
>>737597664
It didn't know if it wanted to embrace the camp (parrying chainsaws and quips) or reject it (lampshading and removing "silly" setpieces) to make the setting more realistic so it just came off as confused and toothless
>>
>>737598838
Better put

>And then RE4 absolutely did not need a remake since the original is a masterpiece. It is one of the greatest games of all time.

i much prefered the action horror of re4make over re2make.
i feel like horror vidya only really works when you are in first person. all the third person re games trying to be scary just never did it for me.
>>
R3make had better gameplay.
>>
>>737598385
yea it was awesome and revolutionary, you wouldn't know about that tho since you're just playing inferior remakes of the masterpieces we grew up with.
>>
>>737599385
Anon, I owned the original. It's not as good as the remake.
>>
>>737596085
I bought re3r for $5 weeks ago, quit during carlos rpd chapter

Feels bad being a centrist in a fanbase sometimes.

I think what people dont grasp is being a hater is a losers position. Im not proud that I payed $70 for RE4 remake and had a bad time. The guy like you who enjoyed yourself is the winner here. Every time I complian about a game Im hoping someone can explian to me what Im missing.
>>
>>737599986
sorry about your shit taste
>>
>>737592857
i finished claire A on the ink ribbon mode for the first time a week ago, it was alright after i started shooting out legs instead of wasting 12 bullets on headshots, also you guys bitch about the new ivys being lame but i think they're pretty scary with really good sound design
>>
>>737595391
you lost, crowbshat
>>

>pls give tips
you can flash him and he'll fuck off for like 20 seconds, he absolutely wouldn't leave me the fuck alone moving the bookshelves in the library so i had to do that
>>
>>737592857
It's probably my favorite RE. I prefer spooky puzzles over the action shit and I also prefer the third person shooting. I wouldn't mind if they went back to fixed angles but this is just the gold standard for me
>>
>>737598730
Just walk everywhere. He can hear you stomping around just as much as you hear him
>>
>>737592857
it changed enough to be its own game but not so much that it was unrecognizable.
