What do you want in Metroid Prime 5?
>>737599452It would be nice if we got a metroid game that focused on exploration for the first time in over 20 years. You know, the reason why the series got critical acclaim in the first place (this goes for metroid 6 too)
Titanfall movement
dateable sammythird person cameraspeed booster
>>737599452I'm at the point where I want Metroid Prime 1 2.>>737599807That would be nice.TOO nice, so it must never be.
>>737599452I'd felt like the combat in prime 4 was solid. I especially enjoyed how quickly you could morphball and get back up. I would place bombs then use psychic energy to whip em at people or bomb + charge ball + unmorph in the air to change up combat against the like 4 enemies in the game.I think one of the high points of the game people dont mention is when you return to the lava factory place after it blows. I liked seeing alien fauna doing its own independent thing. Give me more areas like the outside sections of the frozen lab too.I want to see an alien race who built all their structures into the environment if you wanna keep chasing the BOTW open world dragon.
>>737599452>He thinks he's getting more Prime games.Tanabe killed the series for good like he did with Chibi-Robo. Maybe wait another decade for indiefags to start making Prime-likes.
>>737599452PC port so I can install HD and porn mods
>>737599452More CHADlux
>>737599452bring back the other hunters as well
>>737599452Actual open world. Metroid is begging for a huge 3D non-linear game. Several progression orders through the game, and zero loading screens. Also should have call backs and easter eggs referencing every game in the franchise, so it's like a celebration of the series.
>>737599452It definitely should take cues from Doom 2016 and Eternal. I want snappy movement and combat, melee moves that can be chained and combo'd, a space jump that can be used four times before touching the ground, a grapple beam that is used in combat, I want shinesparking platforming in 3D, I want mission structures, I want squad mechanics, I want them to go all out and make Metroid fast again.
>>737599452>unique detailed environments that aren't sterile retreads of Prime 1>either multiple beams with no ammo (Prime 1) or multiple beams with multiple ammo (Prime 2), no multiple beams one ammo bullshit>interesting beam ideas that aren't just fire, ice, and electricity>interesting upgrades that aren't just psychic versions of existing powers>an interconnected room-based world that is bigger than the other Prime games but not open-world, with some sparce fast travel that is unlocked later on in the game>occasional large rooms that serve as scaled-down open areas to appease the open-world goyim>world consisting of one huge planet surrounded by smaller moons or spaceships that you access via teleporters or rockets>increased focus on Sylux alongside another antagonistic force>either kill off or abandon the previous fed troopers and add a couple new alien side characters that aren't on-screen as much>good atmospheric soundtrack (luckily they haven't really fucked this one up yet)That's the general outline of what I'd want. I have my own ideas for possible beams, upgrades, areas, and story beats, but really I just want something that doesn't look out of place next to the original trilogy. Prime 4 felt like an uncanny lookalike that's trying too hard to evoke the feelings of Prime 1 and failing in the process.
>>737606698One of my ideas for the beam(s) and ammo, was Samus should be able to take attacks from enemies, and each taken one gives ammo for their attack, and she can use that attack for the cost of one ammo.
>>737599452An open world exploration based game on an alien world or worlds where you improve your combat and movement abilities to access more areas. With no voice acting.
>>737599452I could imagine these tiny Metroid worlds where the goal is to drop in with little to no abilities and resources, track down a boss, fight it, and bring back a scan of their corpse to the federation.
>>737599807>You know, the reason why the series got critical acclaim in the first placeI thought it was the sequence breaking and speedrunning that made it famous.
>>737607013you thought fucking wrong
Twerking Samus.
>>737607057>>737599807Explain and describe this exploration, because I agree with the anon who mentioned sequence breaking.
If we're gonna do open world, make it so that there is an open world area consisting of several different biomes with their own enemies and the main stages located in them. So you go north and it transitions to a tundra biome with a snow and ice stage, southwest to a desert biome with a Chozo Ruins-like stage, east to a swamp biome with a Torvus Bog-style stage, etc. And make each stage as large as the largest area in the original Prime Trilogy, with returning to the stages for new power-ups and expansions. And in the open world area we can collect resources that allow us to upgrade the power-ups. You get the major power-ups from the stages and bosses as usual, and with the resources you can upgrade them for more strength and additional effects. Get the Ice Beam from the snow stage, then collect things like rare ice shards and cryo wiring to increase the damage, speed of freezing, and give a charged Ice Shot an AoE affect when it hits the terrain or an enemy. Get the Gravity Suit from the swamp biome and collect the excretions of poisonous creatures and gravimetric devices that let you move faster underwater, give you the Gravity Boost from Echoes, and make you immune to acidic water and poison attacks. For the regular Bomb, some unstable geode cores and magnetic ore can increase their damage and radius, allow you to launch Bombs in a direction, and they are attracted to metal surfaces, enemies, and Bomb Slots which allows you to solve Bomb puzzles from a distance. Samus's ship can be where you build the upgrades along with saving and restoring energy and ammo.
>>737607616>And in the open world area we can collect resources that allow us to upgrade the power-ups.This is where I would have concern. What resources are we talking here? I am convinced the green crystals was the wrong way to do power ups.
>>737607616I read farther and I saw your examples. Though I had an idea, of why not just have your scans give you power ups, to incentivise scanning for something more than an art gallery.
>>737599452Tighter resource management and survival mechanics
>>737599452I'd like to meet more alien races!
>>737607707Different things both natural and artificial that correspond to the system you want to upgrade. Each one has three levels of upgrade, each taking different and rarer materials, many you'd need to blast or carve from rocks and ores, and others you collect from defeated enemies. One or more of the systems you find can aid in the collecting process.>>737607760The scans can be changed so that they let you fight the enemy more efficiently. All enemies have a basic scan with basic information, many of them have a more thorough scan that details their weak points and vulnerabilities, and some have an in-depth scan that gives you access to the materials you can get from them. These would require upgrading the Scan Visor. Also some enemies can change tactics or spawn regional variants as the game progresses, which requires scanning them again to see how to deal with their new forms and tactics.
>>737606914That sounds a little too complicated for just one beam, and also a bit too close to Mega Man, but the possible puzzles using it would probably be insane.
>>737609227I was thinking Kirby when I came up with it. It's supposed to be like Kirby or Mario power ups that you use to solve a puzzle, or bank for boss fights.
>>737607013almost no one gives a shit about those>>737607160metroid 1/ZM, super, and the first two prime games have a strong focus on exploration. They do not rely on action set pieces like the later games (+ fusion and not counting the shitty chozodia segments in ZM) and instead let the level design breath with more focus put on unique interactions with the world itself. These games coincidentally also have the best sequence breaking. The focus on exploration (and level design that accommodates it) naturally leads to more interesting sequence breaking anyway.
>>737601286>Maybe wait another decade for indiefags to start making Prime-likes.the best prime game in the last 20 years was an indie title (not coincidentally, the best 2D metroidvania in the last 20 years was also an indie game [hollow knight/silksong]).
>>737609719>metroid 1/ZM, super, and the first two prime games have a strong focus on explorationand that is?>They do not rely on action set pieces like the later gamesthey don't? Prime games have cutscenes all the time>and instead let the level design breath with more focus put on unique interactionsYou're just bullshitting me with this one. There's hardly any of that in any Metroid game.>These games coincidentally also have the best sequence breakingI thought you and everybody else doesn't give a shit?>The focus on exploration naturally leads to more interesting sequence breaking anywayWhat focus? why sequence breaking important all of a sudden? what the actual fuck. You didn't explain anything. You might have some general idea in your head, but you should at least do the decency to articulate it.
>>737599452No millennials on the writing staff
>>737609785This game was so shallow, god damn. People talked about it like it was some class act. I played it and couldn't believe it was just a decent spaceship simulator in a tiny solar system.
haha little tendie thinks he's getting Prime 5
>>737610049prime 1/2 hardly have cutscenes, and having cutscenes doesn't correlate to focusing on action set pieces so I don't know why you would even think that>There's hardly any of that in any Metroid game. It's all over super and prime 1/2. ZM has it too but it's a much smaller game so it doesn't seem like it (they also wasted the new content on proto-EMMI dogshit)>I thought you and everybody else doesn't give a shit?I personally think sequence breaking is interesting but not to the degree where it's necessary. The average person doesn't give a fuck. The fact of the matter is a focus on exploration naturally leads to better sequence breaking anywayIf you don't get it play the games I mentioned then playing fusion/dread/prime 4, the difference is stark and if you can't tell you might be retarded
>prime 1/2 hardly have cutscenesWhat the fuck anon, actually go play them.
>>737610415there's less than 30 minutes of cutscenes in prime discounting the intro/ending, it's all establishing shots for areas/bosses
>>737610463it's everytime you hit a switch, it's everytime you ride an elevator, retard. there's so many god damn cutscenes. Super Metroid NEVER TOOK AWAY CONTROL, it's why it's god tier and Prime series is lesser.
>>737610767evidentially you haven't played super either, since super takes away control multiple times, including the elevators you mentioned.I'm also not sure what you're arguing. Yes, super doesn't have a lot of cut-scenes either, I was praising super too
it's not about taking control at that point, it's about the elevators not being a cutscene, holy retard. You have no clue what the fuck you even meant by exploration.
>>737599452If i see a human face and it's not a visor reflection, then the game has failed at being a Prime game.>>737606546That is not an open world. Open world is a low tree-depth level select, it does not have these interconnections, because it is an interactive form of picking missions from a list. Linear open world games like Shadow of the Colossus also exist, so being non-linear doesn't make it open world. This is just a decent Metroidvania.>Also should have call backs and easter eggs referencing every game in the franchise, so it's like a celebration of the series. Not only are these usually cynical and ass, but no really one wants to celebrate any of the games released after 2004.
>>737610946You can choose to believe what you want, I'm not engaging your silly criteria anymore
>>737599452A cute shota character to protect
>>737599452more green crystals
>>737599452Play as Sylux, explore new power ups.
>>737599452For it not to exist. Metroid has already been raped enough as an IP and the current custodians of Prime have no clue what makes a good game, they only know how to follow industry trends. All the talent left Retro years ago and it shows.
>>737610957Open worlds have maximum interconnections. It's not meant to be some bloated level select, retard. That's a low brow "criticism" that comes from morons who can't into open world games. A signature trait of an open world game is that the world has character, that locations are pivotal and meant to be reexperienced in varied context. Guess what Metroid is all about. Metroid is one of the most fitting game series for an open world debut, because all it needs to make the dream work is more non-linearity, and to eliminate loading screens. When someone cannot envision it, it outs them as a giga retard. I mean, collectibles dotted around the game world like a checklist? what're we doing here, dancing around the overlapping venn diagram here. Just fucking do it, Shia Labeouf, in the woods at night with a steak knife, Shia Labeouf.and call backs are cool, cope.
