what's significant about 2014
>>
>>737599747
Letting the reward for defeating a boss be solely the ability to move to the next screen hurts replayability
>>
>>737599814
especially when you need money, but the game wants you to farm mobs instead of just giving them as rewards for defeating bosses and optional bosses
it's so retarded
>>
>>737599814
Only if you don't find fighting the boss fun, in which case you weren't going to replay it anyway.
>>
>>737599892
well they aren't exactly nine sols bosses

and build variety is severely limited, in part by not having money that you should be getting from killing bosses anyways
>>
>>737600042
I couldn't really get into Nine Sols, which is a shame, because it looks amazing, and I'm sure it would be fun if I got used to it. But I've never really liked parry-focused action games. It feels too passive to me.

I see what you mean if it comes to bone shards because it's annoying to run out when you're trying to use your tools on a boss and you keep dying.

But with rosaries, I don't really see what you mean. I never really felt an enormous amount of money pressure in Silksong. Most of the time you come across a new vendor, you can buy most of what you want except for maybe one or two things. It wouldn't make sense if you had no limitations at all and literally never had to make a choice between what items to prioritize buying. Although if you were dying a lot and kept losing your money because you couldn't make it back there to recover it, I can understand how that would be frustrating.

Everything beyond the next screen is a reward for beating the boss
>>
>>737601138
you really should get into nine sols

as far as silksong goes crests, charms and tools dictate the playstyle which dictates the replay value to me since I don't really see any of the bosses to be incredible
I'll say that some of the levels are incredible though, but not nearly enough for me to add it to my replay roster

rosaries are needed to buy charms and tools and the fact that you don't get at least something from defeating a boss (or optional boss) really diminished my desire to continue on a new run after I already beat the game

nine sols is completely different, the build variety is less but the bosses are so fucking good that it keeps me playing it's seriously king of the genre
>>
>>737599631
Why do bosses need to drop something? The reward is progress.
>>
>>737601768
and the crests are all mid to late game

beast is the only one I can think of that you can get "early" and it's not really anything special and requires you to get more tools anyways which costs money (rosaries)
>>
>>737599814
No it doesn't.

>bosses drop... le nothing
The bosses that don't give you a reward are Moss mother, Lace (first fight), Moorwing, Fourth Chorus, Sister Splinter, the Deep Docks brothers, GMS (not sure if it counts though since she's a final boss depending on your ending and she does technically drops pale nails but you can only get it later), Cogwork Dancers, Conchflies, Seth and Zango. So, I'll give you 10.5 counting GMS as half. Google says there are 47 bosses, so congrats OP on being almost a quarter correct.

I find bosses fun but I want a reward that displays my achievements means something other than merely a subjective sense of accomplishment that just allows me to keep going forward.
If all you can offer is beating the boss itself for a reward might as well just make it a boss rush
>>
>>737601884
You only need run/dash to get wanderer I believe.

> I want a reward that displays my achievements
That doesn't make it bad not to get that. These are games about exploration. Being able to access new areas (and everything within them) is a massive reward in itself.
