What's the lowest frame rate you deem acceptable?
>>
25, coincidentally this is the framerate diablo 2 runs at
>>
Depends on the genre, a TBS doesn't need the same frame rate as FPS or a racer. Bigger is better ofc.
>>
>>737600059
30. I'm still mad at Drakengard 3 and Bloodborne
>>
>>737600059
24 is the lower limit of barely playable.
>>
>>737600059
I've gone through Blighttown PS3.

15FPS is "acceptable" but now that I'm on PC, if it dips below 30, I notice it instantly.
>>
>>737600059
600
>>
>>737600059
Is this a Spider-Verse mod?
>>
>>737600059
I feel for that PC
call him Casey jr.
>>
I used to be able to deal with a pretty bad frame rate, but anything below 30 actively messes with me. I recently tried the SMT Nocturne "Remaster" that is locked at 30fps. Shit made it feel like my eyes were straining the entire time. I was eventually able to get used to it, but when I finally sat down and installed the frame rate unlock mod and put it at 165fps, it was night and day.

I can deal with 30fps, but anything below that genuinely starts to make my head hurt a bit playing.
>>
>>737600059
30 on consoles depending on the genre.
45 on PC.
>>
60 bare minimum.
i grew up playing hl and cs at barely double digit fps, so i've been fully submerged in shit before, but no longer. i won't put up with it.
>>
45 is actually better than you'd think, kinda like how 75 is noticeably better than 60 and not too different from 100
>>
>>737600059
>be 12 year old little dumbass
>parents give me their hand me down work pc, try to play world of tanks with it
>getting 4-6fps
>dam this game is pretty hard. maybe I should mess with the graphics settings
>turn it down to minimum, game is now running at 15 fps
>Oh man how was I playing that before, silly me now its good
very funny thing to think about every so often
To answer your question OP, anything under 120 is unplayable unless its turnbased/puzzle/non movement.
>>
20 FPS was common in early 3D games from the mid 90's.
>>
>>737600059
Good for him he's getting some attention. Can probably afford a better computer now. Nice story, thanks OP.
>>
Is it true that as you get older the frame rate slows down?
>>
>>737600059
40 is when i say it's not a good experience but 24 is unplayable for me

My friend played gta sa like this, he had a pentium 3 and that mission where you have to get on the plane with a bike was literally impossible because the plane speed wasn't affected by the low fps, so he got stuck there until his family upgraded their pc.
>>
controllers make 30fps acceptable
on a mouse I consider 120 as the floor
I have a 500hz oled monitor and I see no difference between 250 and 500 on a UFO test
>>
>>737600906
no fps actually increases which affects tick speed

anything bellow 60 fps is trash
>>
60 minimum, preferably 90+
>>
>>737600886
His shitty laptop is full of malware and he tells anyone trying to help to fuck off
>>
60 for third person games which I play using controllers. 144 if I'm using mouse and keyboard.
>>
>>737600059
my modded garry's mod regularly goes down to 10-15 FPS with all the NPC wars i have
i dunno how i can tolerate that but in any other game i feel sick just playing 30
>>
>>737600059
60 on my main rig, 30 on my deck. I'll put up with lower but I don't find it acceptable. I don't miss PS3 Blighttown in the slightest.

reminds of me of the time I pirated cod4 on my shit intel gpu laptop and run with 15-20fps in lowest setting and I thought all games are supposed to be like this
>>
>>737600059
When I had a cheap PC with those motherboard graphics, I used to accept even 10 fps. Played Halo Combat Evolved without shader effects at 10 fps
>>
>>737600059
Probably about 15. But frame generation, interpolation and motion blur can probably push it lower.

For aiming even 60fps isn't really good enough. Frames need to be layered so you can have 180fps on a 60hz screen.
>>
I think I played like call of duty ds games running at like 15 fps probably
R4 makes you download and try all kinds of shit
>>
I used to play wow at 3-10fps
>>
>>737600059
The problem isn't that he's playing at 4 FPS, but that the game is slow.
>>
Did a difficult platforming event in Guild Wars 2 using a replacement PC built out of ancient parts at like 15 fps cause my normal one was being repaired.
>>
Amateurs
I've played Arma 3 missions at like 10 FPS because of 50 mods stacked on top of each other and a shit unoptimized map filled with more trees for more realism
no seriously I actually went through the mission like but I did let my squadmates do most of the killing as it was nearly impossible to aim. At one point the FPS got so bad as VC ambushed us in the jungle I just printed next to a tree praying for dear life as the bullets sprayed hard and whizzed by breaking off chunks of tree and I saw it all in slow motion

15 for my favorite N64 game.

I remember playing crysis 2 with around 20 fps. It was kino because it made the aliens scarier. Years after I got a new PC and replayed the game, I was disappointed that it was incredibly easy and not scary.
>>
>>737600059
I don't get it, why is he going viral just for playing the switch port?
>>
Those GTX guys are a devoted bunch.
>>
>>737603730
I prefer 30fps on console. With lots of motion blur. But aiming needs to be ridiculously high like 240fps to make a controller passable to aim with.
>>
>>737600059
>playable
20 fps, when I first began playing 3d PC games this is what I sat at.
>okay
40 fps
>acceptable
60 fps
>ideal
over 100 fps
>>
>>737600059
Just a couple more frames and you’d be playing Ocarina of Time.
>>
Depends on the game/genre, but I enjoy some games that run at 15fps.

60 fps, simple as
i have also locked my gpu to max 75 fps
that allows for dips while never going below 60
>>
It needs to be a multiple of 30. 30fps is better than 45fps. 60fps is better than 67fps. 90fps is better than 110fps
I will not explain my reasoning.

>>737600059
30
My most recent playground of PTDE ds1 on pc I capped the framerate to 30 to avoid bugs and it was genuinely fine
More soulful even
>>
>>737600059
my squeaker ass played arma 2 dayz on the family computer with no gpu like 15-20 fps it's what made me build my own
>>
>>737600059
Would take a consistent 30fps over 60fps with dips below 58.
>>
>>737600059
50

anything less is SHIT
>>
>>737600059
I used to play one game at 444fps
anyone guess exactly what I was playing?
>>
>>737600059
>What's the lowest frame rate you deem acceptable?
PC gamer. I'm on a new system with a 2017 GPU. 30 FPS is the lowest, as I recall playing games at that FPS in early 00's and being fine. Any lower and I'll get cross that the game is slow. I think it's fair to expect this much from a 2017 GPU, 8GB VRAM, brand-new 32GB DDR5 RAM, and Ryzen 7x 7700 CPU (iirc).
>>
>>737605915
CS 1.6
>>
I get motion sickness if its under 60 now being old sucks
>>
>>737600059
30 but only for turned based rpgs
>>
10-15. It's name is Golden Sun
>>
>>737600140
Isn't that only in yuropoor countries?
>>
>>737600059
I've played a bunch of modded Minecraft at 10 FPS, anything lower gets completely unbearable though.
>>
>>737600059
I used to play WoW at an average of 20-25 fps back in wrath. Lag was so bad in dalaran that i had to set my hearth somewhere else or the game would crash when i ported. Camera had to be pointed straight down overhead style to even get 40fps. moving it anywhere else would immediately tank frames in dungeons or raids. Still managed to clear all raids like that, even getting safety dance in naxx.
