>>737612247the npc drivers were never good. i remember on 360 you could just start a race, stay still for about 10 seconds, start driving, and you would just pass all the racers at the first corner because they were all crashed. on pc after all the fan patches let you play at (reasonably) high fps where the driving is so smooth you can just leave everyone behind almost immediately. the npc drivers also don't always show up in sports cars so those races are even easier.

Unlike GTA V's rubberband hell, 90% of the chases can be ended by just shooting the fucker in the head. If you really handicap yourself you'll see a few scripted events like trucks with barrels falling out of them.

Fantastic. I actually love the driving, IV has the best out of any GTA game in my opinion. Used to play with the bike patch but if you take the time to learn you can drive them just as well in vanilla. People complain about the bikes especially but the Lost & Damned exists secondly as a training course for them.

Really, the only good GTA games are this and it's DLCs, and San Andreas. Every other GTA before San Andreas was awkward and felt like shit to play. They were clearly experimenting with the formula before they completed it with San Andreas. There isn't really a reason to play the other GTA's before San Andreas unless of course you grew up with it and have a nostalgic attachment to it. And GTA 5 is just GTA 4 but worse in every way.
