It saddens me that I missed out on this because I didn't have a PC with a CD-ROM drive for the longest time. I played the hell out of Civ 1 and then my next was Civ 3. I got a new PC by the time Unreal and Half Life 1 came out and by that time Civ 2 was not on my mind.

No one "needs" more, but every CEO and shareholder out there won't okay anything that doesn't look flashy or "cool" since they immediately equate "looks good" to "will be a commercial success". And seeing that new games are flopping harder than ever, no one is going to want to risk any money on anything new that doesn't conform to this shortsighted and bullshit metric.
