From what I've seen of the skill tree changes you now have a lot of options for how to use each core, defensive, utility ability but I'm curious about uniques. If say a Druid Zookeeper build has a bunch of great choices but not as many uniques as a werewolf build, it just won't keep up in endgame content. I was listening to the developers talk about it and actively cringing because it's so blatantly obvious that they had no idea what they were talking about. Then they send out prerelease review copies to dad gamer youtubers who sounded like they were actively falling asleep while discussing why they were hyped about the game, despite just telling anecdotes about how they "don't have time to play games anymore" because of their kids, which is apparently a positive for d4. I don't play hardcore ARPGs, I just like the aesthetic, atmosphere, and simple gameplay of some of them. D4 fails in fucking all of this, there are multiple quests where you are required to emote "help" or "wave" or "cry" to do things or support characters, and the writing is so bad that it makes d3 look passable, which is a feat in itself. This makes me really wonder who the fuck is praising d4 for its narrative and graphics, when they are on the absolute floor? You put a few points into passive upgrades and skill alterations but most of it is just clicking on a skill to get like 5% more damage which is what D2 is all about. I don't think blizzard will ever make it substantially more complex than this, so I say they should make it so you get paragon points from level 1 as a separate XP bar. Hell, some of the paragon notables (I do not know the exact terminology) are basically build defining.

Any HC players here? How do you feel about D4? I'm on the fence. I played launch and the two most recent seasons and the defense demands + lairboss oneshot mechanics seem against the spirit of the older games. Build viability is better than previous games but all you have to do to get to top 100 on ladder is not die.
