>Superboss forces you to fight them in a very specific way following a set of undefined rules you must abide by or die
Does anyone else hate superbosses like this? Simon from E33 did this shit too

>Simon from E33 did this shit too
You can delete him in a few turns or even 1 by stacking damage multiplier luminas on Maelle to oneshot him.

Simon Says bossfights are always shit.

The inherent limitations of turn based systems make it tricky to design superbosses that aren't either this or just a huge stat check.

>If you don't have a specific setup for your Immortals where all they do is doublecast magic (Even the strength-based attackers) you literally cannot outdamage the boss compared to what he heals at the start of each turn.
>The only viable Mortal is Sed solely because he has Double Item which allows him to heal your Immortals without magic.
>Turn 3 is a literal 50/50 coin flip if you survive or not with absolutely no way to prevent it because it all depends if he one-shots your team or just heals himself.
>If you don't kill him by turn 4 or 5 it's impossible to beat him due to not having the MP to out-DPS the healing anymore and the setup time allowing him to do the coin flip again on turn 6.
>If you die it takes a realtime hour to come back to try again because it's one of those dungeons where you can't save at all during it and there's a superboss every 10 floors.
>The only way you can possibly cheese him is if you get a Rose Quartz by grinding a specific enemy on the 20th or 30th floors (That can also one-shot half your team) which has a drop rate of like 0.001% and then spend like four hours teaching it to every single Immortal on your team.
>All this does is allow your doublecast time happen in one turn instead of two so you can actually out-DPS him if the fight takes too long.

Simon doesn't have a particularly bad set of rules?
Aside from
>if you die you DIE
and having to use both parties.
Hell, his real superboss fight is just reflexes and timing, like the rest of the game.

He limits your playstyles into solely parries. He's nowhere near as bad as Elizabeth but its still annoying
>No shield builds or i steal them
>No tank builds because I'll bring you to 1HP. You can heal around this but its still annoying
>No dodge spam or i'll kill you with the long attack/3 hit versions of his attacks since the dodge cannot dodge those successfully
>No Planning around two parties or i'll kill them too
>No revive spam beacuse i'll wipe them off the playing field (unless slowed or you have quick characters)
I have beaten him but its just annoying, even worse with the DLC version
>>
>>737624363
Well, yeah, he's the parrymaxxing boss.
... or he'd be if clea unleashed didn't exist, but you get it.
He's the boss for people who want the hardest parry challenge.

Honestly I don't even think Simon is a bad fight but i do think that forcing you to do phase 1 every time actually is shit considering how fast Simon can wipe you out
>>
>>737624514
Simon is only bad in that as anon said it severely limits your playstyle to just one thing if you want to do it "normally": parryslop. There's nothing else in the game like this.
However the devs at least still let you go full ham and instantly one shot him or just stunlock him forever thus denying him of even a single turn with a properly built Sciel, even with the damage cap and high HP challenges to the point you never need to even parry or dodge once.

>and having to use both parties.
Which was the dumbest, gayest shit ever.
