Never hated gacha but didn't quite "get" them. Only one I had any interest in was Fate/Grand Order because I was already a Fate fan.

Eventually someone told me I could get it on my phone by making another region account (since it wasn't available in Europe at the time) so I did and started playing. Got pretty into it, enjoyed the early story for its fanservicey character cameos and enjoyed the later story for being legitimately interesting. I love the character designs and enjoy the gameplay (albeit I recognise the game is most fun after you have a stacked account, early on its a lot less fun).

I play it every day, and I buy one big pack (£80~) every two to three months to do daily 1SQ rolls and GSSRs.

I've tried other gachas but none of them stick. Typical reasons for me dropping them are annoying dailies (Genshin, Uma Musume, Arknights) or gameplay not interesting me (Blue Archive). The longest I've stuck with another gacha is Honkai Star Rail however I dropped it after a year or so when the Penacony arc ended as 3.0 didn't interest me at all. I haven't put money into any gacha other than FGO.

At that point I had to ask myself whether the rest of the systems were good enough to support everything by itself and it just wasn't, even though it was alright.

I have never spent money on a gacha and I haven't played a gacha (aside from trying a new one for a few hours to see if it's any good before dropping it) in like 3 years.

I'm sure if a gacha game released that had really well designed systems and mechanical depth ON TOP of extremely strong writing, I'd be excited to play it. Certainly I'm on the lookout for one. But gacha games are very very low quality on average for whatever reason. One day there will be a gacha game that's actually good and I suspect it will take over the world, considering how effective even very shitty gacha games have been at monopolizing people's time and spending at scale.

Hated gacha and refused to play them even though I fapped to some FGO characters a lot. Schez, Scath, Raikou, Nightingale, etc.
2022 summer I was really fucking bored so I decided to try Genshin since Yelan was new and so hot. Was surprised by the fact it actually felt like a competently made game, more than I expected it to be.
Since then I've bounced around and played lots of them. Never spend more than the $5 monthly though. It's all you need unless you're an OCD character collector.

The last few I played were Shantae:Risky's Revenge. Which is honestly just okay, Routine, which after the first attempt at scaring me I dropped, plus I was starting to hate that it's apparently Squint At Text:The Game. Age of Empires 2 which I'm currently playing, Scarmonde which I've nearly beaten, and I periodically hop onto the MMZero/ZX collection. I always thought the dailies for these games were negligible, it is the FOMO events that are often gated behind story content that was the pain in the ass.
At one point I was juggling four gacha at once and just could not keep up anymore.
When playing one or two it is easy to postpone it a few weeks or until the last moment, but having to spend half of my weekend every week on trying to keep up was more draining on my mental health than playing several MMOs at once used to be as a teenager.
I quit everything but ZZZ and finally get to work on my steam backlog after years of not playing real games.

The bigger problem these games have and one of my main dislikes about gacha is that even the characters that are interesting and get put effort into them eventually get forgotten in the story and meta once new characters need to be shilled.
In the games where the older characters don't get forgotten entirely, they at best get relegated to only appearing during some event once a year.
