The only time Rance annoyed me was in 5D when he tried to fuck some youkai girl, then when she finally snapped and revealed her true form he killed her
Other than that he was pretty damn great in the games I played - Kichikuou, VI and Sengoku

All three of the GTA story mode characters pissed me off. Michael the most, then Trevor, then the monkey. I wasn't able to make it far in the story, they were just so shitty.
Just used the game as a fuck around simulator mostly.
