The only thing I think the game doesn't do great is textures, especially for backgrounds, plus it can feel weird to pick which piece of gear is better. DLC is also a bit grindy. That all being said, I've played through it a few times now and the eventual end game builds you can do are extremely fun, end game you can make any job viable, even beginner ones.

I'm playing Tomb Raider 1 lately, it was one of the first games I played on PSX. The game's controls are rough (I'm playing on emulator, am waiting for a sale to get the remasters) and took a while for me to get used to them, but once I did, while I still think the controls have a lot of problems, it's nice to have to think before platforming, and dying because of poorly calculated jumps, which practically never happens in Crystal's TR games. The combat is terrible though, and it's specially bad to deal with hitscanner human bosses. Pierre in particular is the worst one so far, and I think he'll be the worst one period, because he has a bad habit of showing up out of nowhere and just hiding once you do enough damage. Still, despite its flaws, I am surprised I'm getting a sense of exploration with it, something I thought I wouldn't feel again, and I feel that happens because I actually have to think before jumping, and explore to find something, no easy hints or magnetized ledges.

On top of that I had a part time job but wanted more money so I sent applications before these restrictions, and was ghosted until the restrictions were lifted, so I received plenty of offers to have job interviews just one or two weeks before taking the plane back home. And despite recovering a lot when I went back to my parents' place I still looked like a concentration camp survivor and my family only started to take it seriously when they saw me irl despite me barely being able to speak on whatsapp and telling them I felt sick.

I just take assets that other people have made and use them. or, I assemble a character/outfit in daz (which has some customization to make it your "own") and import into blender. so when I said I build characters/environments, I'm moreso putting assets together like legos. modeling stuff yourself is a whole other beast and a large learning curve but I know it's way easier from a technical standpoint than drawing is, which takes years and years. I definitely recommend you get into it though, it's incredibly rewarding to make anything yourself and you'll be glad you did a year on from now
