Which guys did you keep for battle? Which guys got benched?

For gameplay obviously.

never played this, none of the characters seem appealing

I bench all fags so that means Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie, Chie and Naoto all get benched.

Chie
Yukiko
Kanji

Sometimes I'd bring in Naoto for clearing out mobs.
Yosgay and Teddie are my professional bench warmers.
>>
>>737637856
In terms of usefulness
>Yosuke = Naoto
>Chie > Kanji
>Yukiko > Teddie
Yosuke and Naoto are both jack of all trades, Yosuke is better for bosses because he learns healing spells and dekaja, Naoto is more useful for grinding because she gets all types of attacks and instakills.

Chie is better at physical damage. She falls of mid game but quickly picks up in the end with some OP spells.

Yukiko is better than teddie in every way throughout the game. Healing, Magic damage and stuff.
>>
>>737637856
Benched Naoto and Teddie, i think i also cunted Kanji off
>>
>>737637856
Yosuke (buffs/damage), Teddie (buffs/heals) and Yukiko (damage) were my go-to because of the phys resist late game bosses have, never changed my team after the halfway point
>>
>>737637856
I rotated them around but Yosuke, Yukiko, and Kanji were my most common team.
>>
>>737637856
When I was playing the original I stuck with Yosuke, Kanji, and Yukiko and benched everyone else. Golden it doesn't really matter as long as you don't double up on weaknesses.

I use physical build protagonist, Kanji, Chie, and healslut Yukiko.
Sometimes for fun I swap Kanji with Naoto for the harem party.
Ted and Yosuke are benched after the early to mid-game.
>>
I've played this game 3-4 times and I genuinely don't remember
The only must-have party member is yukiko
>>
>>737639763
>physical build protagonist
>in a game where the protagonist's stats and skills can be changed every turn and there is no "build" to speak of
Is this fabled zoomer persona fan who only experienced the game through twitter clips?

>Anon can't figure out how to fuse a god tier persona that you never have to switch off of because it's stats/skills/resistances are that good
Do you just fuse the first thing that appears on the list instead of trying to make it as OP as possible?
>>
>>737640254
For 99% of the game I use the most useful personas for the current boss/dungeon enemies
If you're talking about using previous saves compedium then I don't even see the point in talking about builds considering there is nothing in the game that won't get curbstomped by any lvl99 late game persona
>>
>>737640254
You can't cover every possibility in the game with just one persona. That's why the game gives you 12 slots. Using only one persona the entire time is the most boring shit imaginable.
>>
I'm surprised that so many of you bench party members, I always rotate characters when I play a JRPG just to have more options or in case the party gets split at some point
>>
>>737638452
If you're using Yukiko for healing you're missing out on her magic damage. Teddie is better than Yukiko as a support character due to the buffs he gets (matarukaja, marakukaja, and marakunda), and you want to push buff duty off to anyone but Yu since Yu is also an amazing damage dealer. Chie does get the luster candy equivalent, but that's only for the last two dungeons.
>>
>>737640738
I max everyone out at the end and give them their best equipment and then put them back on the bench
>>
>>737640738
In Persona 4 benched party members don't get xp, so you do have to figure out who you want to use unless you're fine with grinding to catch up the people you bench.
>>
>>737637856
The first three. I didn't want Teddie or Naoto on my team at all, and benched characters not getting XP meant I didn't want to switch.
>>
>>737641054
I don’t remember movesets being so tight that you can’t fit a couple support skills on her.
>>
>>737637856
usually ran chie, naota and yukiko by the end. teddy was redundant to me, kanji i never bothered to strengthen him, and yosuke always pissed me off gameplay and personality wise so i always benched him when i could. if yukiko wasnt as good of a mage i would switch her out with kanji
>>737640738
i switched them out more frequently in p5 because you could mid battle. i dont remember if you could in the other games
>>
>>737637856
The real questions are who's getting buffed or nerfed in the remake and who will have the best Theurgy
>>
>>737637856
yukiko, chie and kanji

I hate yosuke and teddy, and naoto is only good for grinding
>>
>>737641054
Salvation(Full party heal and ailment) + Samarecarm (Revive) that's all you need. Chie covers buffs.
>>
>>737641557
It's not that she doesn't have room, it's that the support skills don't exist for her. She gets access to all the good healing skills, that's great but Teddie can also use mediarahan and samarecarm (balm of life is still better). In terms of healing Yukiko does get salvation while Teddie would have to use amrita, but that is the last healing spell Yukiko gets so you're only going to be using it for the last couple of dungeons and its value is only if a boss can both inflict ailments and heavy damage at the same time. However, that's where Yukiko's support stops. She does not get any buffs outside of matarunda. The only things Yukiko can do are heal and shit out fire damage, and she's really good at the second thing so putting her on healing duty is a waste.
>>
Rotated and levelled up everyone. No need to funnel all the exp into just three of them, you'll never be underlevelled even if you're using the whole team.

I kept Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko the whole game. Because I am a loser with no friends irl, I always keep the designated bro character in when I play rpgs. D:

Transgender detected, go back to twitter

I like Naoto and Kanji the most, and they have a combo attack, so I either take Teddie or Yukiko on my playthroughs besides them.

After my most recent playthrough of golden, I hope they make the remake way harder. Golden is too easy because of shuffle time.
>>
>>737640473
Because of the magician card, I find myself using a single persona, because you can get end game skills super fucking early.
>>
>>737642198
I’m confused what you’re even trying to argue against. It’s not like anyone is saying to use full support Yukiko with no fire attacks.
>>
>>737642198
She is flexible. Her ultimate ability hits hard, you can have both boost and amp, and you can have salvation. She does a much better job dealing damage when healing is not needed than teddie does.
>>
>>737643204
The original poster said Yukiko was better than Teddie in every way which isn't true. She's better at dealing damage, her only advantage on healing is salvation, and she's worse when it comes to buffing. I'm not saying that people wouldn't have fire attacks on Yukiko, I'm saying that her doing anything but attacking is wasting her potential. Her healing is more for a break in case of emergency situation, she should spend most of her time using her strongest fire spell or mind charge into that spell if she has mind charge.
>>
>>737643512
You can just buff with the MC who gets every buff and just use another damage dealer instead of Teddy.

>wasting yu's damage potential on buffing
Yes he should be handling buffs while the rest of the party hasn't learned any of them in the early game, but as soon as they can start buffing he should be focusing on dealing damage.

Yukiko, Chie and Teddie. No exceptions

>>

Only real time I benched one was Morgana in 5 because I hate that stupid cat.
>>
>>737637856
Yosuke, Teddie, and Kanji for most of the game (PS2 version). I never really thought about it since I usually use harem parties but with SMT I only care about gameplay viability.
>>
>>737637856
If you didn't use all of them, you didn't beat the game.
>>
>>737637856
Teddie + Yukiko + Naoto
>>
>>737637856
Chie, Naoto, and Kanji for random battles. Kanji is especially great in Hollow Forest.
Yosuke, Kanji, and Yukiko for bosses.
>>
>>737643694
>just buff with the MC
holy shit you're a fucking idiot. why buff with the motherfucker that can do the most damage? the fuck is the point of yukiko then when she doesn't do as much damage as other characters and has less utility than teddie?
>>
>>737637856
Benched Chie as soon as I could, then Yukiko
last I reluctantly benched Yosuke because Teddy is a healer
