My friend is creating a bullet hell game. This is his first try ever, he is doing all the drawings, animations and shaders himself, without AI. He's also doing it old school way, by learning it from youtube instead of just vibe coding shit.

He's expecting it to flop, but i've been telling him that it looks decent and that he actually has a chance to do 1000 sales, which is what eh would consider a moderate success. Check it out

But dude is SWIM? I dont really understand you, if you are implying that i would be able to finish any of ideas i had, thanks, but i am way too lazy to get past a certain point. Especially since i am always overreaching (trying to use raylib, love2d or shit like that because engines annoy me). So instead of making anything that is playable, i just make shit demos in frameworks that are interesting only to me.

It definitely looks good. I'm a bit protective of bullet hell games, and I'm worried there won't be much of the "dodging bullets" part. This isn't exactly trying to be Touhou, but I would've put like a radial bullet spread and aimed shots to get the player to move somewhere they won't get shot.

Yeah as of now to survive you must chase the enemies or something. I'm not that into this genre so i dont know much, i just talk to him about linux support and shit like that, which i will test before release

Game doesn't actually require you to use your brain that much, it's a chill game, the only thing you need to use your brain for is the upgrades which you can buy in tech tree or smth

But yeah, game is not my genre either, i'm just trying to gather more opinions on it, since our friend group will probably just jerk each other off whatever we do or create

I don't see how that's even a video game. It's just vampire survivors with geometric shapes.

Tech tree is inside the game, not outside (vampire survivors upgrades are permanent and out of the game right?)

There are also bosses, it's definitely more idle than i would like it to be, but not as idle as clicker games or shit like that which is unplayable because there's nothing to play.

Probably the worst thing about indie dev, in my opinion, is devs who just make shit slop because they want to showcase artwork or music, instead of game design. If you aren't interested in game design, please do not make games.
